Guest Nevermortal Report post Posted November 17, 2002 Ring Of Honor ran in Wakefield, MA at the Americal Civic Center on 11/16, drawing a reported 500 fans for their sophmore effort in the market. Full results of the show saw: *Mark Briscoe and Dream Partner Christopher Daniels defeated Jay Briscoe and Dream Partner The Amazing Red. Daniels announced before the bout that Mark had joined his heel faction The Prophecy. Daniels scored the pin on Red with The Last Rites. *Alexis Laree pinned the Christopher Street Connection's Mase in a mixed match. *ROH champion Xavier pinned Jeremy Lopez in a non-title bout. This was said to have been a solid wrestling match. *Da Hit Squad defeated Tony Mamaluke and Matt Thompson. Thompson is a Texas Wrestling Academy (TWA) trainee. The storyline was that Mamaluke gave him a tryout as his partner. Mafia pinned Thompson with the death valley driver. *In a ten man tag team match, The Amazing Red, The Maximos, Chris Divine and Quiet Storm defeated Special K of Joey Matthews, Izzy, Slim J (NWA Wildside), Deranged (NY and NJ indies) and Angel Dust (Azrael on NY indies). This was said to have been an amazing aerial bout. J was knocked out during the bout and was taken to the hospital. He was told he did not have a concussion, was released and is OK. *Samoa Joe defeated The Ring Crew Express (Dunn and Marcos). *Paul London and Rudy Boy Gonzalez defeated Michael Shane and Bio-Hazard in a Street Fight. This was the blowoff of the Shane vs. London feud. *The Carnage Crew of HC Loc, Tony Devito and Masuda (TW trainee) defeated Fast Eddie (TWA), Don Juan (TWA), and Alex Arion (NECW) *Homicide defeated Samoa Joe in what was described as a hard hitting bout. *AJ Styles pinned Christopher Daniels to retain the #1 contenders trophy and earn a championship match against ROH champ Xavier at the promotion's 12/7 debut in Hamburg, PA. The Prophecy attacked Styles, who was rescued by Jay Briscoe, The SATs, and Amazing Red. They shot an angle backstage where Styles asked Alexis Laree to be in his corner on 12/7 (to offset Prophecy valet Simply Luscious) which led to Th Prophecy laying them out in the back. *In a 30 Minute Iron Man Match, American Dragon Bryan Danielson defeated Doug Williams by scoring the only fall in the bout. The promotion is planning a Best of Three Falls rematch. Notes: Despite drawing 500 fans on two consecutive occasions, the promotion will not be returning to the Americal Civic Center. The local township has banned pro wrestling events from the building, stemming from issues with a Billy Graham benefit show that was run in the venue. There were no problems with ROH and the building, but it was over the management's hands as it's a township issue. ROH plans to return to the market when they can secure a new venue....The promotion filmed the show for a video release on (Obviously) RFVideo.com....The promotion debuts in Hamburg, PA at the Fieldhouse on 12/7 with Abdullah the Butcher & Homicide vs. The Carnage Crew and ROH champion Xavier vs. AJ Styles. Wakefield, MA's township sucks my balls. I hope they find a new venue quick, maybe one closer to the Rhode Island line. But anyway, to the card. Seemed good but doesn't seem as good as last week's card, although the Briscoes match looks like something I might want to watch.
Guest ShooterJay Report post Posted November 17, 2002 Yeah, the same town that lets those KKK demonstrations go on bans pro wrestling events. Way to go Wakefield. Eh, because I have no car at school, it's actually easier for me to get to Philly than Wakefield. How about running in the Wonderland in Revere? ECW used to run there all the time, and there's still indy shows there on occassion. As for the show, the first one in Wakefield sounded better, but this sound okay also. Guest Joe_G Report post Posted November 17, 2002 They need to can the sound guy, who made about 3,000 mistakes during the night. The crowd was yelling "TWO" after two counts, which got real old real fast. Mark Briscoe and Dream Partner Christopher Daniels vs Jay Briscoe and Red: Good opener. Daniels rules at working the crowd. Why oh why is he not in the WWE? Red gets beat on for an eternity but makes the hot tag. Briscoes brawl on the outside and Daniels hits the Last Rites on Red for the pin. Alexis Laree vs. Mase: Wow, this sucked, but they kept it short. I guess Buff E did retire. Laree wins with a top rope tornado DDT (I think, it wasn't terribly well executed). Xavier vs. Jeremy Lopez: Simply Luscious gets on the mic and says we don't deserve to see a title shot, to which a fan yells back "No we don't," which I thought was funny. No heat because no one gave Lopez a chance in hell. They did some pretty good nearfalls, though, and it wasn't a bad match. Great moment as Lopez is making a comeback, and he screams "Come On" in a really whiny voice, which earned many imitations from our section. Xavier with the 450. Da Hit Squad vs. Tony Mamaluke and Matt Thompson: Thompson is some tall guy (they billed him at 6'8 but that may be pushing it) who can fly. He pulled out a springboard body block and a top rope lionsault. Too bad he's greener than Kermit. Hit Squad as faces is weird. DHS win when Thomspon eats a burning hammer. Not much here. The Amazing Red, The Maximos, Chris Divine and Quiet Storm vs. Special K: Special K here was Insane Dragon, Deranged, Azrael, Slim J, and Joey Matthews (Dixie was on the outside on crutches). They're quickly dubbed "Team Skinny Punk" by the guys behind us, although "Team 12 Year Old" would also have worked. Well, as far as spotfests go, this was pretty unbeatable. Lots of indesribable moves and swank quintuple teams. SAT and friends win after about 25 minutes. If you like spotfests, find this match. Samoa Joe vs. Dunn and Marcos: Wow, Joe got fat since the last time I saw him (which was a UPW internet match with a so-so picture, so maybe he's always been beefy). Squash-o-rama as Joe slaps around the two scrub and pins one with an Island Driver. We thought Homicide no-showed, and by the end of the night he probably wish he had. Paul London and Rudy Boy Gonzalez vs. Michael Shane and Bio-Hazard: Looked ok from what I could see, which wasn't much, as they kept brawling on the floor. London set up a ladder between the guardrail and the apron and stood on it like he was going to do a shooting star press to the floor, but I guess Biohazard tripped him up and he crotched himself on the ladder. OUCH. London does hit a shooting star press in the ring, which is bee-you-tee-full. Rudy tries the Rey Mysterio fake dive, but fucks it up to an amazing degree. London and Rudy win, and I don't have to hear the bad guys music at all. The Carnage Crew vs. Fast Eddie, Don Juan, and Alex Arion: Juan had a cartoon bomb on his tights, prompting many "This guy's the bomb!" and "He's gonna explode!" comments from our section. Not a bad match. Bad guys win with a spike piledriver from the top. Homicide vs. Samoa Joe:: At one point they just started slapping the shit out of each other and it was the stiffest shots I ever saw. The guys behind us commented "Jesus, he's not your wife, Joe." Homicide also deposited Joe on his head with a backdrop suplex. Homicide wins with a roll-up. Much better than I thought. Someone yelled out "I choose you, Samoa Joe," which was really funny for some reason. AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels: Real good match. The "TWO" yelling was in full effect here. Styles wins with the Styles Clash, then the big melee breaks out. Should have ended the show with this match. American Dragon vs. Doug Williams: Some of the crowd wasn't into this, as we have already been there three hours and they weren't in the mood to see a lengthy match with lots of mat wrestling. Still a great match. Dragon hits a Dragon suplex for a fall at the 17 minute mark, and that was the only fall of the match. Probably should have put this one on right after intermission. Dragon is probably thinking "I've worked the Tokyo Dome. I don't need this shit." Still a match I want to see again on tape. Good show. It was up there with the 8/24 show. Can't wait for the next show...oh wait. Eat a dick, Wakefield.

Guest converge241 Report post Posted November 18, 2002 Great show, id rate it the same as the first. I wonder why they didnt announce the next show..I figured they would have that all set based off the advance ticket sales Slim J of Special K took the bad bump right in front of me (middle o front row section B) he was gone, eyes just totally glazed over I felt bad cause of course we were giving him tremendous heat prior to that (all Eminem related) LOndon's fall on the ladder was BAD..i dont know how he continued best matches (in order) Styles- Daniels 10 man tag Ironman the 2 thing got really old really fast i was hoping they would do some one counts just to shut them up Earth to ROH : Xaiver has no heat (except for our AC Slater chants, but we get sick of that quick) Hilarious moment: Chanting You Suck Dick @ the CSC guy and him giving a big thumbs up lol the music was screwing up left and right wrong peoples music songs in the middle of matches that el gigante bastard had the worst look ive ever seen on a wrestler they need to update the facilities there..one at a time in the bathroom is not good i cant wait till the next home show, even with the minor gripes this was a blast Joe G, what section were you? Guest Joe_G Report post Posted November 19, 2002 I was in section B, second row from the back. Pretty good view (at least when the big guy who sat in front of me left halfway through the show). But there won't be another Wakefield show. The township banned it as detailed in the first post of this thread.
