Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted November 18, 2002 Yea, but everyone did; it was the point of the match. It's not like HBK did anything special like blow out his knee or crush his larynx or anything.
Guest Paranoid Report post Posted November 18, 2002 But there are alot of people calling HBK a "cripple". From what I saw at SumSlam and from what I read about SurSers, he is far from a cripple. But being a huge Clique fan in general I could be wrong.
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted November 18, 2002 Well, he's certainly not literally a cripple, but compared to what I've read about his past, he's still a shadow of his former self, and aside from his storyline with HHH is in no position to work with or put anyone else over. Guest the pinjockey Report post Posted November 18, 2002 I want to see him wrestle more than once every four months though before declaring him to be back from his injuries. If he can work a full schedule and put on solid matches then fine put the title on him. I think it is silly though to put a belt on him when you have no idea how he is going to hold up even in the short run.
Guest Paranoid Report post Posted November 18, 2002 I still hope he puts over RVD. Jericho is over enough already, RVD could use the push more I think.
Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted November 18, 2002 I wouldn't have minded HBK winning the title, if he was back in some sort of full time shape, however knowing full well he just won so he can hand the belt right back over to Triple H next month leaves a sickening feeling in my stomach. Same here. If HBK returning a job to HHH was/is neccessary, he could have easily just laid down for HHH sometime in the match tonight and that would have been it. Then HHH could have actually put over someone more meaningful like RVD or Booker T. Honestly, after two high profile bouts, I don't need to see anymore of this Michaels-HHH feud. The steam isn't there anymore......Michaels took it to him now twice and beat him. Theres nothing else to prove from a logical standpoint, HBK dominated HHH. But hey, at least none of the 5 had to do a job for HHH in the match, on a side note. Could have been worse.
Guest EricMM Report post Posted November 18, 2002 I'll eat my words if I see HBK headlining 4 shows a week like everyone else on the roster. But that's such a fucking joke.
Guest TheAnvil Report post Posted November 18, 2002 So without much effort he outlasted everyone else and won the match against 5 other guys, what a great guy HBK is. Well...he was the last man in. It's not like he did a HHH and lasted the whole match. He sat in his "chamber" for 20 minutes while everyone got worn out. Did you watch the match?
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted November 18, 2002 Shawn is barely 5'8" 180 and that is stretching it. Nah, he's bigger than that. Not a hoss or anything, but he's around 6' 200lbs ish.

I've met Shawn on three different occasions and he is no where near six feet. I am 5'11 and he looked up at me the entire time we spoke. On topic, I don't think HBK buried everyone last night. Like someone else said, he sat in his chamber most of the match. I figure HBK will retire completely as the champ tonight or lost to HHH (if he can wrestle) at Armaggedon. Guest Brian Report post Posted November 18, 2002 It's hypocritical. HBK can have the title but Brock can't? Because Brock can't work houseshows? WTF!
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted November 18, 2002 The RVD isn't good enough to main event argument died the minute that the titles went on the Big Show and a non-wrestler. Everyone will have to drop that now.
Guest snowfan Report post Posted November 18, 2002 It's hypocritical. HBK can have the title but Brock can't? Because Brock can't work houseshows? WTF! You expect anything else from Yawn or Crips? Look the WWE empire doesn't have "double standards" it has "triple or quadruple standards". The only way yesterday could have been worse would have been if they had brought back Bret and had Yawn kick him in the head during the ME. Vince knows he is one good shot away from joining the rest of the Hart Foundation(since no one cares about Neidhart)in permanent retirement. VKM managed to highlight everything I hated about 1996-1998 in one show..... Good work WWE.
Guest jester Report post Posted November 18, 2002 I believe HBK will only be wrestling HHH in any meaningful capacity. Maybe they'll let him do a quick superkick as part of a six man tag and that's it. HHH will still be the focus of Raw, so he'll be after the champion. There might even be a face/heel turn in there somewhere. Do you think HBK will go anywhere near RVD...especially now that RVD injured HHH? RVD is getting no rub these guys. Guest EricMM Report post Posted November 18, 2002 But listen all the other wrestlers work 4 days a week, including champ HHH. Will Michaels work that? Cuz if not there's no way he should be allowed to be an "active" wrestler, and with two different brands, I expect the champ to be at a house show!

I think you and just about everyone else expects to see the champ at house shows, too. This along with the roster split would explain the pitiful house show attendance figures. I would be pissed if Shawn remains the champ tonight yet doesn't work house shows, which I think he physically cannot.

The endings to the two "main events" were sad, and really shows the condition WWE is it. Horrible stuff. RVD could have easily become a main eventer last night. Same with Booker. WWE sez "No elevation for you!"
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted November 18, 2002 Well from the sound of things RVD was mega over last night, like HHH and HBK were. Now the latter two had been the focus of TV all month, while Van Dam did nothing. That says alot right there. Plus...the crowd was said to be super pissed when he was eliminated...which should tell everyone that you know...they wanted to see him win. Everyone but Vince of course. Guest The Mighty Damaramu Report post Posted November 18, 2002 SpiderPoet nobody is ever happy? Is that why everyone constantly praises Smackdown? Damn us for not being happy but praising a show! What do we know? We're a bunch of heartless bloodsuckers that don't like anything. Listen. I'm happy with good wrestling. SD! provides that. I'm happy with a champ who is booked strong and has great matches that mean something AND can back it up in the ring.(so crips doesn't count) That is why I wasn't happy with HBK winning. He can't wrestle full time and he can't put on a match anywhere near the level that an Angle, Benoit, Guerrerro, or even an Edge can. And I'm entertained by those guys having great matches. Like I said I will eat my words if he puts on great matches every week and jobs the title to Booker/RVD/Jericho(1 of the 3) at the next PPV. But as it stands right now he's going to hold it like the European title and drop it to his friend in a bad match. I'll be happy. When the great workers dominate the main event. Guest The Mighty Damaramu Report post Posted November 18, 2002 And once again....I don't care about the fucking pop they recieve. That has nothing to do with how good they are in the ring. Hogan/Rock.....great pop and the match blew hard. HBK......great pop but can't back it up in the ring anymore. HHH...big pop but can't wrestle worth a shit. RVD......good pop and can back it up. Benoit.....little to no pop and can back it up with his arms and legs broken. Hmmm.........pick which of those 4 I like!

I don't get where this idea that RVD can wrestle any better than HHH came from. They've both degenerated into boring crappy formula workers, its just that they are boring in different ways. And as far as Benoit goes, I'd argue that the pops his matches start getting by the time they reach teir climaxes are a lot more meaningful and powerful then any of the other three you mentioned. I've never seen a tenth of the crowd involvement in an RVD match that I have in some of Benoit's matches over the past few months alone.
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Report post Posted November 18, 2002 And even if the crowd sat on there hands I would still love Benoit and his matches.
Guest The Hamburglar Report post Posted November 18, 2002 And even if the crowd sat on there hands I would still love Benoit and his matches. Ah, but that's the point. The average crowd does not sit on their hands for the vast majority of Benoit's matches(unless they are with RVD). Put simply, Benoit's matches are too involving for the fans not to get into it. I'll still never forget Wrestlemania X-7, when Angle and Benoit did that amateur shit and the crowd just lapped it up. There are very few crowds that do not appreciate a good match and good workers. Guest subliminal_animal Report post Posted November 18, 2002 All this pop/worker talk is fine, but someone can be the best worker ever and the crowd doesn't really care? You don't push them to the main events. Hell, you could even argue that doesn't make them the best worker ever. Technically, a good match is one the fans enjoyed. But blah on me. And for the record, I'm not some dumb mark. A professional wrestler is sleeping at my house right now. He's my best friend in the world, and has attempted to get me to train and get in the business myself. For some reason I'm assuming this Josh Daniels from PWF or Quiet Storm. Am I right? I think I'm psychic. Look the WWE empire doesn't have "double standards" it has "triple or quadruple standards".
