Survivor Series Live Report

I was there live, so here are some various thoughts from the live crowd (at least the section I was sitting in), match-by-match:

-Crowd loved Hurricane and Goldust (obviously) and hated Regal and Storm (also obviously). That one's a given.

-The 6-Man Tag was way over with the crowd, and the place went absolutley crazy for the Dudley reunion. Lots of ECW chants in my section for that one.

-Not a lot of Saliva fans, apparently, as people cleared out of the arena when they came on to go get food. The crowd was dead for the start of the Kidman-Noble match mostly because most of them were still out at the concession stands- mid-to-late in the match, when most people were back, the crowd got into it, especially the near-falls in the ending.

-The Women's Title Match the fans weren't into at all. This was another bathroom/food break (why the fuck don't you just go BEFORE thes how, during Heat? That's what I do, anyway).

-The crowd was apathetic for Big Show, some boos though, and went CRAZY for Brock. New York loves Brock, it's very true- but the crowd died as soon as Heyman pulled the referee out of the ring. My section seemed to be filled with more than a few smarks- quite a few people (besides myself) audiably yelled out that Heyman was going to turn on Brock after the video package and interview (it was kinda obvious). They completley shit on the ending, of course.

-The Triple Threat Tag Match was interesting, because the crowd was 3/4 for Edge/Rey and 1/4 for Angle/Benoit- and that was mostly out of my section. We got about five "Let's Go Angle" chants going. But the whole crowd auidably groaned when Edge pinned Angle- even the guys rooting for Edge and Rey wanted the Guerreos to be eliminated first, it seemed. And of course, the Guerreos winning the titles was the wrong decision- like the Show ending, the crowd didn't give it heel heat, they just shitted on it.

-Obviously, you know what the reaction to Steiner was. MSG loved him- in the line to get out, Steiner's various catchphrases replaced "WHOO!" and "WHAT?!?" on the lines in as the favorite things for inpatient people to yell while waiting to get in/out.

-Finally, the crowd was HOT for the entire Elimination Chamber- everyone seemingly had their fans, including HHH, as everyone got a pop coming out. RVD, however, clearly had the most cheers, along with Booker in second- so of course, just to show that WWE knows what it's fans want oh-so-well, they're the first two eliminated. It took a lot of HBK (who the NYC fans were majorly into) to get the crowd back into the match after the Booker elimination- and they were already half-out-of-it from the RVD elimination. HBK winning got one hell of a reaction- I don't know how it came off on TV, but it was one of the loudest reactions I've heard since HHH came back to the Garden in the Janaury RAW (and even the HHHaters must admit that was pretty damn loud). I was personally rooting for HHH for two reasons: HHH dropping the title to a new face in a Singles Match, either Booker or RVD, after another month will mean more than losing the title in a 6-man clusterfuck, and I'm still a mild HHH fan from the 2000 run, so I don't really mind him (I don't love him, either). HBK winning the title was, at least to me, the wrong decision- but MSG sure was happy with it.
