What does everyone use as their digital camera?

Please provide a couple of thoughts as well.

 

I noticed a few days ago, that the RAW brand was coming to Hawaii. Well, what would a "Smart Mark" be without visual aides that I will post up on this forum board?

 

Anything in the $10.00 (SKBF, got me a deal? ) to $300.00 range is all I'm looking for, BTW. I can't really distinguish one from the other, so that's where "the smarks" come in.

 

Any help is GREATLY appreciated, honestly.

I was an early-ish adopter, so my camera is only an HP Photosmart C200 camera, it's a 1 Megapixel deal, so I can usually get up to an 8X10 print out of it. It has a 2X digital zoom, which as Jericho might describe it is the Drizzling Craps. If you are looking for a zoom camera, make sure you get OPTICAL zoom because that is the kind that looks good.

 

I take lots of pictures with my current one and I'm generally happy with it, but I'm hoping to get a really expensive one in time for my honeymoon.

I've got an early model Olympus (can't remember the model offhand) with 2Megapixel, 2x optical and 1.5x digital zoom and it's never done me wrong. It's not good for making 8x10s but since my stuff is either gonna stay jpegs or 4x6s I haven't had cause to complain.

 

And I concur with Razor on optical zoom - it's a MUST for the camera. Anyways my recommended brands are Canon, Olympus and Sony. I can't remember what Canon uses but Olympus uses SmartMedia cards and Sony uses their proprietary stuff. I dunno if that'll influence you one way or the other but there you go.

 

Oh, and this isn't the best representation (since I had to scale down the photo size somewhat) but here's some pix from trip to NYC last September. It'll give you an idea of the photo quality.

Hmm.

 

I got a Fuji Finepix 1.3 mp camera ($149 retail value) for free when I got Windows XP at Staples last year. I like it, but I wouldn't have paid 149 bucks for it. The photo quality on the optical zoom is fuzzy. The two pictures below are from the Smackdown I went to right after Royal Rumble in North Charleston, SC (Where RAW will be next Monday Night) - this was the Smackdown where Vince was in the Chair with the nWo logo on it..

PC Magazine (www.pcmag.com) recently posted a review of many, many digital cameras. Generally, you can get a quality 2.1 or 3 megapixel camera for under $300. There's no reason to spend anymore than $500 unless you're really a photography enthusiast.

Checked my camera this morning. It's an Olympus D-460, but I don't think they make those anymore. I have heard good things about the D-550 though.

 

Also, if you're buying the camera at a store, don't forget to bargain for a lower price/other stuff. If the camera doesn't have a direct USB connection, get one for whichever media card it uses (or a docking station in the case of some). A camera bag/pouch is also a good thing, and of course spare cards never hurt (since the one they give you won't hold too many pix). Milk them for all it's worth.

My Wrestling Pics

 

Cortusey of WebShots, here are some of my wrestling pictures. Most of them are on the lowest resolution possible because at the time I only had an 8 meg card, and was hoping to actually meet some of the wrestlers outside of the Garden, when I interned up the block.

I got Olympus D-520. No complaints at all. It also takes mini-movies along with the pictures.

Mine is a Canon Powershot A50. It's 1.3 megapixels, but my biggest complaint is that it uses a $13 disposable battery, which understandably sucks to replace.

 

For the pics I took in the House Show report, I used my roommate's camera, a Sony Mavica FD-88. It has much better zoom and uses a normal rechargeable battery, but the main reason I took it was that I couldn't find mine.
