Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted November 19, 2002 Okay, why don't we, the SmarksBoard music forum venturers, devise a list of the 100 greatest guitar solo's ever, as we see fit? Of course, it won't please everybody, but we're aiming for the majority. Now, what I need are: 2 people to help me keep count and track of the nominees (PM me for details). Each reply to contain 10 (that's TEN, Roman numeral X) nominees for "best guitar solo ever." Allt hat is required is the song, the band, and preferably who does the solo (as many songs have more than one solo). If you list a solo, and then aforementioned solo is repeated in separate nominations by different people, it will be looked heavily upon by the "solo committe" (basically me and the 2 people to help out with this). After 100 solo's are collected and tallied in total, voting will begin. After the first round of voting on the 100 solo's, 2 divisions will happen in the same voting thread: NORMAL and LOSER'S. When voting, you will be asked to place a number, ranked 1-10 with 10 being the best and 1 being the worst (NO 0's or decimal places will be considered; with decimals, I will round DOWN to the nearest whole number). A song's total score will be counted by myself and my 2 assistants, and the scores will be posted in the next round of voting. Might seem a little confusing, but I got NO sleep last night (as much of a pussy as it makes me sound, I was crying until 2:30 in the morning because my friend Timmay died last week, and his wake was yesterday {and his funeral is today, hence my not being in school, so I can post this}), so cut me some slack. EXAMPLE OF THE VOTING PROCESS: From VOTER A "Song A" - 7 "Song B" - 2 "Song C" - 10 "Song D" - 3 "Song E" - 5 "Song F" - 5 "Song G" -3 "Song H" - 8 "Song I" - 10 "Song J" - 6 From VOTER B "Song A" - 8 "Song B" - 1 "Song C" - 10 "Song D" - 9 "Song E" - 2 "Song F" - 8 "Song G" -5 "Song H" - 3 "Song I" - 7 "Song J" - 4 The total points for each song would then be as follows: "Song A" - 15 "Song B" - 3 "Song C" - 20 "Song D" - 12 "Song E" - 7 "Song F" - 13 "Song G" -8 "Song H" - 11 "Song I" - 17 "Song J" - 10 Hope that helps. Soooo...GET NOMINATING~!

Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted November 20, 2002 If Iommi's getting mentioned then it should be for songs like A bit of finger/Warning/Sleeping Villiage or Black Sabbath. Van Halen's Eruption has to be here on principle, as does Captor of Sin, War Ensemble and Born of Fire by Slayer. There'll be more when I think of them. Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted November 21, 2002 Nah, I'm going to be fair about this, just to avoid any controversy about the first annual TSM golden whammy bar award. This isn't metal exclusive, by the way...Nominate anything that doesn't suck, hell, nominate something that does, but you'll probably get made fun of for it. Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted November 22, 2002 Okay. Now, since I'm really busy this weekend (going to a show tonight, and I think I'm still seeing The Misfits tomorrow night), I'm leaving my two Committee Members (who shall remain secret) to PM each other to decide on what solo's get in, and what solo's don't. To be fair: The song must be relatively well-known. If a song has been nominated more than once (as a few of the songs have been), it is automatically in. Hmmm...scratch that. I'll send my picks for the 100 tomorrow around 2 in the afternoon to the committee members.
