Post your questions about the game here, and I'll do my best to answer. I will say this though...

...it deserves the great reviews it has gotten, it is a wonderful, wonderful, video game. I'll check back here frequently, so let's talk about this game now!

Sincerely,

...Downhome...

I got it too.

I am in awe of how cool this game is.

Just walking around scanning stuff is fun!

Of course...the first major enemy I found killed my ass easily...I haven't even made it to the planet yet.

Will you guys buy it for me or do I have to wait until Christmas?

Buy it yourself, you lazy whore! :D :D :D

BPS, how could you possible let that first boss kill you? Sheesh man, seriously. :P :P :P Myself, I'm at the second boss now and have yet to beat it.

Holy shit... Planet Gamecube gave it a 10.0! That's insane.

So, my questionis... how frustrating is the control scheme?

I played the demo. Biggest gripe, hell Only gripe, is you can't strafe and move at the same time. You have to lock onto an enemy to do so. No enemy? You're SOL. Don't know if it's like that in the final version though.

The control scheme is fine. The only thing is that you can't look any dirrection other than the one you are moving in, you can't turn and look around like in other FPS's, that and like in most other FPS's, the jumping can be tricky at times, that's it.

Have you ever played Goldeneye or Perfect Dark for N64? The movement is very similar to those games. Turning and walking are both done with one analog stick (Dual Analog fans might find this awkward at first, but you'll get used to it fast). The control is awesome. Firing missiles is now done with a new button, rather than selecting missles and hitting the "fire" button like in the other Metroid games. I really like this, cause in the older games, I'd always be wasting missles because I forgot to turn them off after I was using them.

Switching visors and beams is great. Like someone else said, the only tricky thing is the jumping, but you're going to get that in FPS.

I can't say enough good things about this game. It's classic Metroid gameplay wonderfully translated to a 3D world.

:gas:

I agree with the last post, and I have to add...

I've played alot of FPS games in my time, but this is the first game with a first person perspective where I actually felt like I was in the game.

It's that engrossing.

You know, I got the same sensation a while ago. Best game on the Gamecube. Hands Down.

=D

I wanna know if anyone has had it crash on them yet. I've read reports that upto 40% of the initial games shipped have a bug in them that crashes under certain conditions.

If thats true, my luck with buying buggy games (most notably No Mercy, among others) its probably a good thing that Im waiting on this game.

Last I checked, I was about 50% done with the game and it hasn't crashed on me at all. Where'd you hear this from? I haven't heard this rumor yet.

Did you hear that from Planet Gamecube (most reliable Gamecube site out there)?

Please, say you didn't.

err..close..

Theres a whole thread (and a couple of smaller ones) about it on the Planet Gamecube Forums.

Nothing official about it on the actual site though, yet..

The major thread..

I've only had one Cube game crash on me (SSX tricky..) and it only happened 1 time..

Of those 3, I like Metroid Prime the best.

If you want multiplayer that rocks then go with TS2, which I also like.

Medal of Honor has some really good levels, and some not so good ones...but it's still a prety awesome game.

I haven't played Timesplitters (I heard it was good though).

I did play Medal of Honor for PS2. It's a good game, but Metroid is a lot better, in my opinion.

I picked up Metroid Prime today and I have to say that I'm really impressed. Retro and Nintendo really do deserve all the kudos they've been getting for this one.

This game is a big step for Nintendo.

It's their first full fledged GOTYC.

XBox had Halo last year, PS2 had GTA3 last year and GTA:VC this year, and now Nintendo has Metroid Prime.

At least according to the phenomenal reviews.

3 tens from EGM...damn

I doubt MP will get any big Game of the Year nominations from any magazines/websites other than those affiliated with Nintendo or only cover nintendo. Everyone's gonna pick GTA:VC as the overall console game of the year, which is honestly a shame. I've played the MP demo a couple times, and aside from only getting like 10 minutes, Im sold on it being the best game for the Gamecube so far to date, but only for the next 3 1/2 months..

This game is incredibly overhyped.

I mean, it's good and all. But games like these come in with enough hype to choke an elephant and six weeks later everyone goes back to thinking "Meh."

It's a very well crafted game. It's not a perfectly crafted game, though and it's not without it's flaws. I'm getting VERY tired of these cracks and crevices and hills that look big enough to stand on but aren't. I'd be remiss in not mentioning that the AI either floats around in their own little circles or CHASECHASECHASE until death.

I was impressed with one of the Space Pirate enemies jumping up on my platform and then dodging a shot, but I turned the corner after it to find it in a crouch position in an empty hallway and it sat there and let me blast it to death. I'm sorry, but that's not very smart.

The two selling points seem to be either:

1. "Dude, it's METROID."

2. "Dude, the GRAPHICS."

Maybe I don't like it because they fleshed out the first person gimmick all they could but didn't provide a very good FPS. Maybe I don't like it because they made enemies and levels for a very good 3D adventure but make me spin around like a madman in a wheelchair looking for everything to shoot and scan. Or maybe I'm still bitter because I was the only guy who thought Super Metroid was as much fun as an Ass Sandwich.

Whatever. Best GameCube gamer ever so far. Game of the year? Nah.

I think MP is game of the year. It has great atmosphere and control. Even the people who wanted to hate it had to admit it's cool. If you want to talk about games that are overhyped, see "Vice City." Prime, however, delivers.
