Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted November 20, 2002 Let's look back at the ratings just short 3 year ago. November 15, 1999 6.3 And now almost 3 years later to the date. (last week's show) November 11,2002 3.1 Here's the card from the 99 show November 15, 1999: Mankind defeated Val Venis...Kurt Angle pinned The Godfather...Gangrel defeated Chris Jericho by Count Out...World Heavyweight Champion, The Big Show, pinned Davey Boy Smith...Jesse James pinned Hardcore Champion, Al Snow, in a non-title match...Test pinned Billy Gunn...Hunter Hearst Helmsley defeated Kane by Disqualification...The Big Boss Man pinned Rocky Maivia. -------------------------------------------- Other then Rocky and Mankind the roster difference isn't so much where you think the rating would cut in half This baffles me...I know that Raw's ratings are in the crapper as of now...but does it shock anyone else that only 50% of the people who watched then are still watching. That's really hell of a number And yes, I did use last week's number cause it was a little weaker...but I'm sure after this week's ppv spike it'll setlle back down in it's little rut. Guest buffybeast Report post Posted November 20, 2002 That episode of RAW that scored a 6.3 occured during the peak of the wrestling boom. Those fans who left, 3 million of them, moved on to something else. And Vince is trying to woo them back. Won't happen.
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted November 20, 2002 Could happen but the WWE needs something to grab the attention of the fans again.
Guest buffybeast Report post Posted November 20, 2002 Well, it won't happen overnight.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted November 20, 2002 well there was another wrestling show which Vince in total egomaniac mode wanted to beat every week. I believe that 50% that left were DX marks, once they over killed the stupid clone of nWo the marks left.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted November 21, 2002 Here was WCW's ratings on that same 11/15/99 night: November 15, 1999 3.1 Same as WWE's last week. So on that night alone the ratings were a combined 9.4, and last week the scored a 3.1. It's even freakier knowing only 1/3 of people who watched wrestling on Monday night back then watch now. Damn, I hadn't thought of it that way. So wrestling has lost more than six million viewers in three years. That's scary.
Guest Basswitch Report post Posted November 21, 2002 Its happened because people are tired of seeing the same old worn out story lines and shit wrestlers for champs. When ECW went bankrupt the fans who watched that watched WCW. When WCW went they stopped watching it all together. Now people are not watching it, and many people who would be starting to watch it are turned away. It is because they think its boring and stupid. Back when Stone Cold first fueded with Vince it was brilliance, WWF was booming. That storyline was believable. I mean who has not wanted to beat the shit outa their boss before. Now this necro shit... It's so unbelievable that many fans are turned away. Hopefully NWA TNA will fire Vince Russo and become some real competetion for the WWE soon (like in the next 2 years) or i fear wrestling... may be gone for good. I wouldn't say that, because wrestling fans don't have the selection that they had three years ago.
