So what is it the "The Game", the Iron Bowl, Paul Bunyan's Axe, or something else?

My pick is Army-Navy. Always try to watch that game no matter how bad both teams are.

Voted for other, and picked the one I get emotionally involved in - the UCLA-USC rivalry. These teams have a habit of beating the other one when the other one is heavily favored. This is one of those games where you say screw the point spread and hope to God your coach motivated your players and your players have lots of heart, because that ends up being the difference. With both UCLA and USC having great seasons, this year's game is shaping up to be a good one.

The longhorns vs. the aggies. Any rivalry that involves kidnapping the opponent's longhorn steer mascot, killing, cooking, and eating it deserves to win.

Clemson/Carolina. The Texas/A&M story is pretty bad, but have they ever come out in the opposing team's uniforms and held a fake practice before the stands rushed them and pound them into bloody pulps?

I think not.

insert dumbass trophy and you got a game!

SMU vs TCU for the Iron Skillet

Hey the Trophy's are tradition. The Old Oaken Bucket, The Keg O Nails, and my personal favorite Chief Cadoo. The 6 1/2 foot Wooden Indian that Stephen F. Austin and Northwestern St. play for.

Some of been around since the turn of the century like the Little Brown Jug (Minnesota-Michigan), and others like the Land Grant Trophy (Penn St.-Michigan St are new).

The Little Brown Jug was left by Michigan in 1903, and Minnesota told them they'd have to beat them in order to get it back. The rest is college football history.

Instead of playing football, wouldn't it have been easier just to buy a new bucket?

This year is Clemson/USC's 100TH meeting. You can only imagine how this state is right now. Everything south of Columbia is for Carolina, everything to the north is for Clemson, with scattered pockets of fans in each half of the state. This place is at a fever pitch.

Other- Grambling/Southern U. Bayou Classic is always entertaining especially the "Battle of the Bands." And also Notre Dame/USC and Notre Dame/Michigan

As an OSU alum, I had to go with Michigan-Ohio State. Win or lose, the riots afterward were always great fun.

I wonder how those goofy rivalry trophies started... Anyone know?

Akron/ Kent State is for the Wagon Wheel! Not that anyone cares, but according to lore, the founder of the University of Akron was looking for a site for a college in Kent. His wagon became stuck in the mud at the future site of KSU, and was later found. It was then awarded to the winnner of the annual KSU/ Akron football game, the fierstest MAC rivalry in the greater Akron area!

The only game I care about today. The one I grew up with. Alabama beating Auburn.

Two words: Iron. Bowl.

Fuck Auburn! Alabama played like shit! I am so pissed right now I can't see straight. Bama is the best team in the SEC and they fucked around and got beat by Auburn. At least they are on probation so it really doesn't matter.

I hate Auburn. If I didn't hate emoticons, too, you'd be seeing one that vomits and cries right now.

What, no Kent St./ Akron? Oh yeah, they both suck.

Another Kent Stater? On our Forums? I thought I was the only one.

Anyway, it's gotta be Ohio State-Michigan (as it's always a good game, unlike some of the other ones I saw today), and it almost always costs one of them a shot at the national championship.

ya know what would be a good rivalry if either school ever wanted to play each other in Football?

this is a Basketball rivalry.

Arkansas v. Mizzou.

But.. to sample the local stuff.

Nebraska v. Kansas State has potential as a rivalry. KSU-KU doesn't, since KU sucks cock. KSU-MU doesn't, for the same reasons. Once KSU blows out NU in Lincoln, then maybe KSU-NU won't be so fun either.

Modern day trophy game..

Alabama v. Texas A&M (or SMU). Winners get conjugal visits despite repeated violations of rules. I doubt they would ever dare to gave the NCAA death penalty to the Crimson Tide.

It would cause fans to rally for UAB/Auburn "Plastic bowl" games in the mean time.. ;)

I'm not a kent stater, but both of my parents graduated from ksu. In fact my dad was tight end/ quarterback/ safety during his five years there. He even caught a td in the game against eastern when they broke the losing streak
