Recommended Posts

Guest godthedog

eh...probably ***1/2 or ****. very very good match, but the iron man match absolutely blows it away.

****. It was certainly something special, but missing that certain something.

Probably ***1/2. The fact that they actually had a title change for an untelevised match at a TV taping and the fact that Bret Hart beat Ric Flair via submission pushes it to ****

I really enjoy this match, although it's fair to say that the Ironman Match was better.

I'd go **** for the title change, and ****.75 for the Ironman Match.

Best wishes,

Andy

This match is one of the reasons I paid 3 bucks on Ebay for the Smack 'em Whack 'em tape. It's **** easy.

The other good match is Bret vs Shawn in a ladder match for the IC title, although its not as good as some of the more famous ladder matches..

Nope. It was recorded on a hand-held, so it's basically a bootleg, but you can get it from basically any tape-dealer. It's worth every penny.

The only thing you'll have to worry about is quality. The other matches on the recording are Money Inc / Nasty Boys, Bigelow / Typhoon, and Taker / Papa Shango...but the Ironman is the only thing noteworthy.

I think Money Inc. vs Nasty Boys went about 15 minutes.

Best wishes,

IIRC the Typhoon/Bigelow match is where Typhoon's fat ass breaks the ring isn't it? He goes into the corner to bounce off and breaks a whole rope off.

I don't recall noticing that before.

Most of that match has been released commercially on a video called Bret Hitman Hart, his Greatest hits , in the uk, this video has also got the 1st ever Bret/Shawn ladder match on it

I'd call it ***, I didn't get the feeling they were comfortable working together.

You're talking about the Iron Man match?

The saskatoon switch is on the same Coliseum tape (Smack 'em, Whack 'em) as the ladder match, unless you're talking about a whole different tape altogether.

I'm pretty damn sure it wasn't released in the UK, although you do get another Bret/Flair match on Invasion 1992, probably the least favourite of their matches.

The saskatoon switch was available on Smack em Whack em over here but now Silvervision can't sell the tapes it may be hard to find

I don't think the Iron Man match was ever released on Video by the WWF was it? I always thought just the tape of the house show was available.

Check auction and tape trading sites. It'll be a multi-generation boot probably, and you'll be lucky if sound and picture are decent enough to view.

I was actually lucky enough to get a copy off eBay about 3 years ago that I could swear is 1st generation. The quality is superb, probably the best I've seen in all the handhelds I've come across.

***, meaning it was solid. The match kinda bored me actually.

I used to enjoy the Ironman match, but the more I watch it now, the more I find flaw with it. Anyway, here's my rating on all the Bret v Flair matches that I have seen.

Wrestlefest '92 comm - ***1/2 (their best match)

10/12/92 - ***

01/09/93 (Ironman) - ***1/2

01/24/98 - ***1/4

Both have had better matches with other opponents.
