And #1 is injured right now. Damn. That's a lot of money.

Duane Starks? Christ, he's making more than a few people who might actually earn their money. I was glad to see him leave the Ravens, since watching him get BURNED and OWNED by most receivers in the league got tiresome week after week. You want a chink in the armor of the Ravens' dominant 2000 D? There he is.

Kerry Collins is the 5th highest paid QB?!?! Wow!

I can understand Carr making that much because of those #1 pick rookie deals, but Collins at $7.5+? Wow.

He stepped up big during the playoff run to the Superbowl though. His size (or lack of it) is his biggest problem as he is manhandled by the more physical receivers. The fact that he is the 2nd highest paid CB this year and within the top 25 overall is laughable.

Marty Booker makes over 7 million. He's a good receiver but I'm suprised he makes that much.

-- Alright, the Jets pay $9,000,000 to a guy WHO SNAPS THE FUCKING BALL.

--Larry Allen at $13 Million? Ouch, and on top of that, he's out for the year with an ankle injury.

-Carr, Peppers and Williams each have long rookie contracts, so the top class of wideouts(Boston, Harrison, Owens) and backs (S. Alexander , Holmes and Green) will balance out the salaries when their contracts are up.

-Where the hell is Brett Favre?

Yeah, I really can't comprehend how a centre can be making $9 million +. There are a lot of players up there who are probably making a LOT more than they deserve, but hey, the same can be said for any sport.

Favre only pulls down $6 million a year, not enough to make the list.

Poor guy, only $6 million. Must be rough on him.

I didn't mean it like that. I meant "only" as compared to the others. Kinda like saying only so many people died in one disaster as compared to another.

Out of curiosity, how much do the top CFL players make? A comparable amount, except in Canadian dollars?

Hells no. CFL teams have a VERY low salary cap as compared to the NFL's, and most players have to (or at least choose to) work other jobs in the off season as a way of making more money. They make more than the average person, I'm relatively sure, but nowhere near what their counterparts in the NFL are making.

For example, a recently retired Montreal player (Jock Climie) was also a lawyer.

I didn't think they made all that much, considering how the practice squad guys were treated, according to The Rock's book. It's kinda good though, as they're forced to find a way to contribute even more to society, whereas only the smartest of NFL players actually think about life after the millions are gone.

The center is important, damnit!

Hey, Mawae is a beast. Not to mention one of the few guys on the list who's actually earning his money this year.

I consider Carr's salary combat pay. Not to mention there's probably a hefty insurance policy included.

LOL -- I was thinking the same thing when I saw this list.

Now I'm starting to understand even more as to why the Cards are one of the worst franchises in all of sports...

I think that some of the numbers are skewered because they include signing bonuses in the figure.

While the signing bonus money is paid all at once, it's really spread among the length of the contract.

For instance, McNabb just signed his contract and got the signing bonus. Next year, the salary is probably more around a couple of million a year, which is his base salary.

Also, Trotter is really only going to make around 4 Mill a year on average, the signing bonus makes it look larger this year.

That's not how signing bonus works.

If you get a 20 million dollar signing bonus on a 5 year contract, it counts 4 million a year, despite giving it to him up front.
