Guest HBK16 Report post Posted November 21, 2002 Im not sure of it was Sting but last night at around 1130, I was skimming the channels and came by one of those 24 hour religious channels. Well I pass by it and I see a small wrestling ring. Probly like 10 by 10 feet. And whos in the middle of it? Sting. And he is being jumped by some guys. He even has his costume and a bat. Full makeup. And everytime they came in and he kicked them out of the ring, he would claim that God gave him the power. Then they attacked him with a chain then he broke thorugh it and everyone was cheering and then he said he had faith to break the chain which he really didnt. Then he went on and preached to a crowd of people. It was really weird. I am wondering if that was the real Sting.
Guest areacode212 Report post Posted November 21, 2002 You know the current wrestling landscape is sad when you read something like that, and it actually sounds kind of cool.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted November 21, 2002 TBN channel scares me with the Tammy Faye Baker look alike and here multiple wigs and then there is Bible Man, the religous super hero. The constant shrilling of Left Behind movies gets boring also. it was probably the real Sting, he is not the only psuedo-celebrity to make apperances on the channel. Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted November 21, 2002 Yeah...that was durring the Ted Debiase/Nikita Koloff thing...they showed a show they did with Sting. I forgot to mention the cheesey Sting stuff when I put up the Debiase thread.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Report post Posted November 21, 2002 Sting is a born again Christian so it was him. I think it's rather cool that he's doing that kinda thing, you know giving up the chance to make big money with the WWE to preach to people. I'm no religious guy but I apreciate that. Guest Choken One Report post Posted November 21, 2002 Shawn will join this thing shortly...Hopfully...Sadly, The Christian Broadcast Network has a better wrestling show then WWE.
Guest converge241 Report post Posted November 21, 2002 were you the same guy who sent it to the Torch? or was it just aped from there?
Guest BobBacklundRules Report post Posted November 22, 2002 I'm waiting for HBK vs. Sting in a who loves God the most match. I can see it now, two alters with a man praying at each and whoever gets accepted into heaven the first wins. At least it'll be better than the elimination chamber. (Im in no way dissing christianity because I am a christian, I'm just pointing out that using wrestling as a platform for bible thumping is stupid. Just like that one christian wrestling indy fed a while back in texas, THE FACES WON EVERY MATCH, look it up im not joking.)
Guest Choken One Report post Posted November 22, 2002 Who were the heels? Johnny B. Evil? Wearing a Red suit with plastic Rey Rey Horns?
Guest BobBacklundRules Report post Posted November 22, 2002 the faces were all different kinds of angels with the main eventers being jesus, david etc. and all the heels were different demons and the devil
Guest BobBacklundRules Report post Posted November 22, 2002 it was on a wrestlcrap type website a while ago, i can't find it now. they didn't have religous costumes just the names and the status
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted November 23, 2002 I respect Sting and DiBiase for doing that. They obviously aren't doing it for the money, just the love of their lord.
Guest deadbeater Report post Posted November 25, 2002 It is all about the storytelling, folks, something that is quite problematic in the WWE today. Christian wrestling if done right, could be a lot of fun, especially if they add Shawn Michaels, Charles Robinson, Jericho and especially Molly. Some of the major wrestling stars also have done the Bible wrestling circuit. Eddy Guerrero jobbed practically all summer and most of the fall, yet he made #1 in many lists. Why? Because he is allowed to tell wonderful stories in and out of his matches. The villains, heels and demons are there to carry the stories any way they are allowed to, before they get their comeupperance. That's why wrestlers, even the good-natured ones, want to be heels.
