Guest Incandenza Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 So I'm listening to E.C.'s Imperial Bedroom and I totally dig the title. What are some loved album names around here?
Guest Kinetic Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 I'm a big fan of phrases as album titles, rather than enigmatic one-word titles. As such, my favorites are probably If You're Feeling Sinister, Girls Can Tell, and Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere. That's not a definitive list. I'll probably come up with more later.
Guest The Metal Maniac Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 Piece of Mind - Iron Maiden So Far, So Good, So what? - Megadeth When the Kite String Pops - Acid Bath (Sorry if I stole your heat AoO, but I love this title so much)
Guest Youth N Asia Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 "Hitler Bad, Vandals Good" by The Vandals
Guest LooseCannon Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 I'm drawing a blank at the moment, but Songs about Fucking is a great album title.

Guest Incandenza Posted November 23, 2002 Report Posted November 23, 2002 More Songs About Buildings and Food--Talking Heads We Have the Facts and We're Voting Yes--Death Cab for Cutie
Guest Kinetic Posted November 23, 2002 Report Posted November 23, 2002 I believe that if we were to have a vote, Songs About Fucking would win by a landslide. Never mind that most of the people here have never even heard of Big Black and even I can't lay claim to having heard anything they ever recorded. It's just a great title. Not to mention a pretty bitching cover, fo sheez.
Guest Incandenza Posted November 23, 2002 Report Posted November 23, 2002 And for those of you who haven't seen said cover:
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted November 23, 2002 Report Posted November 23, 2002 That's cool shit. And guilty as charged here for never having heard of them. I probably wouldn't like it, but that's to be expected. Killer name and cover, though.
Guest Kinetic Posted November 23, 2002 Report Posted November 23, 2002 They were producer Steve Albini's band in the 80s. He's best known for producing the first Pixies record, PJ Harvey's Rid of Me, Nirvana's In Utero, and also Bush's Razorblade Suitcase, surprisingly enough. From what I can gather, they're a kind of loud and heavy version of what came to be known as "industrial." There's a big chapter on them in the absolutely essential book, Our Band Could Be Your Life.
Guest Incandenza Posted November 23, 2002 Report Posted November 23, 2002 allmusic.com lists them under the following labels: Post-Hardcore, American Underground, Noise-Rock, Indie Rock. I've heard nary a track by Big Black--I believe LooseCannon has this particular album, though--though I do have another Albini-led band's album, At Action Park, by Shellac. They're pretty f'n noisy.
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Posted November 23, 2002 Report Posted November 23, 2002 Shellac is Albini's?!? Wow, that's something I really truly didn't know. Makes sense, though. I'd like to weigh in for Depeche Mode's Songs of Faith and Devotion. A good album with a farkin' beautiful title. I also like Violator as a title. Heh. Violate. Heh.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted November 23, 2002 Report Posted November 23, 2002 Dead Kennedys' Frankenchrist is a pretty good one.
