Guest cynicalprofit Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 http://www.wrestlecrap.com/deal112202.html Ooooh! Can I guess what Val Venis' new character is going to be? He said he was going to pay attention to the details, so I bet WWE is going to create a "Smart Mark" character so they can ridicule all us internet fans. Just a guess, but if it's right, you heard it here first. I can see Vince doing this to make fun of us, why, because hes a fucking moron, I mean what else can you call a guy who looks down on his own fans. But seriously, THERE GOES ONE OF MY WRESTLING CHRACTER IDEAS...bastards. Still if they played it right, they could really make this character a hit, atleast to a certain amount of the audience.
Guest ShooterJay Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 A character like that would completely fly over 95% of the people's heads.
Guest El Satanico Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 Yep making jokes at the expense of their most loyal fans. Great business move there Vinnie.
Guest cynicalprofit Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 A character like that would completely fly over 95% of the people's heads. You really think we're 5% of his audience?
Guest HoffmanHHH Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 At least. The net is a pretty common thing, and wrestling fans look up wrestling on the net, and pow. My guess would be 10-15%.
Guest cynicalprofit Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 im willing to be its more like 30% due to the ratings at their lowpoints being around the 1. range and ecw which was mainly internet fans geting around a .8 ratings. Thats about 1/3 of todays ratings.
Guest BA_Baracus Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 Who cares? Val Venis will be playing the character, so no-one will notice anyways...
Guest cynicalprofit Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 No one cared that Stone Cold Steve Austin was the Ringmaster...yet he turned out just fine.
TheFranchise Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 lol, ringmaster I think McMahon likes Venis anyway, rememebr he tried to push him into main event status against Austin and Rock and he just wasn't ready...
Guest Choken One Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 Smart Mark Venis..excuse me I mean Morely. Appros. they used Venis for this though.
Guest mach7 Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 I can see Vince doing this to make fun of us Someone's a little full of themselves......
Guest Youth N Asia Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 Either way, I'm sure he still won't get over. The missed the boat when they didn't change him in into someone normal after the RTC broke up...now he's had the gimmick way too long and it's just going to stick. And I'm sure more net fans stuck around over the non net fans...cause even when the product's bad we stick around to bitch about it.
Guest Zack Malibu Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 They should have turned him "normal" while he was in RTC. Drop the Venis name, denounce the gimmick, and go to being Sean Morley, or give him a new name, certainly something better than "The Goodfather". I agree on the point that he's had the gimmick far too long, and now he'll most likely be stereotyped, no matter how hard they try to push him.
Guest ryankeast Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 I really do still see a lot of potential in Morely. I think he is a decent enough worker and very good on the mic. The WWE don't want him to denounce the Venis character too much on TV as the fans will chant at him during his matches and he will never get away from his old gimmick. I think he has a chance of putting his past gimmick behind him and moving on.
Guest jester Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 If Venis is going to be a Smark, does this mean he will cut promos in which he calls HHH "Roid boy" and "Cripple H", or "Mr. Stephanie"? Or tell him that he kills everyone's heat and isn't that over despite being backed 500% by WWE's marketing machine? Or tell him that he only has his spot because he's banging the boss' daughter? Make fun of him by inserting "uh" every second word? Now that might be interesting.
Guest Brian Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 Sean Morley's already a smark. He doesn't need a gimmick.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 A character like that would completely fly over 95% of the people's heads. And 3% of the remaining 5% wouldn't care.
Guest crandamaniac Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 If Venis is going to be a Smark, does this mean he will cut promos in which he calls HHH "Roid boy" and "Cripple H", or "Mr. Stephanie"? Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 I can see Vince doing this to make fun of us Someone's a little full of themselves...... Well considering he's taken cheap shots at the Internet Smarks numerous times, I doubt think anyone here is being full of themselves.
Guest Kinetic Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 I think you're all missing the big picture here. According to this logic, it's only a few short steps from being an internationally-renowned porn star to being a smart mark. If that holds true when you flip it around, well...I can hardly contain myself.
Guest Mulatto Heat Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 *yawn* Cheap shotting the smart marks isn't going to motivate me to watch RAW again. Sorry.
Guest converge241 Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 a lot of people are assuming this as a fact i mean i could say hes going to have a new gimmik of a statiscian by hearing "pay attention to details" hell he could be a jizzmopper they have to be pretty observant as well they need to find some may to adapt his political views and how he expands on them into the wrestling character which is nigh-impossible
Guest dreamer420 Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 I would really like Sean Morley to get over in whatever the WWE is planning for him because the guy really deserves it. He is top notch in the ring when given the chance, but was always dragged down by gimmicks.
Guest Fook_Hing_Ho Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 I thought he had a real chance to get over when he was with Trish, but the feud with Chyna absolutely destroyed his credibility until he became the evil ice cream man in the RTC.
Guest commie_050 Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 He DID cut the greatest heel promo of all time though, something to the effect of, "I used to devise clever sexual innuendos purely to amuse the fans ..." and he threw Rikishi off the Smackdown stage. I applaud anybody who throws Rikishi off the stage.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 "HELLO SMARKIES.." I doubt this will happen, but then again they did have the Coal Miners Glove on the wheel, and a bunch of other stuff that only smarks would possibly get..
Guest RenegadeX28 Posted November 23, 2002 Report Posted November 23, 2002 Hmmmm...I don't know how this character would be a great success.... I have always like Venis, and I am hoping they go with a better direction than "smart mark."
