Guest MrRant Report post Posted November 22, 2002 Bill Maher Moves Back to Cable Good to here as I enjoyed Politically Incorrect most of the time and it would be interesting to take some of that aspect and put it on HBO where they could say pretty much anything. Guest cynicalprofit Report post Posted November 22, 2002 Im truly suprised, he pissed off A LOT of people in the industry. But still its great news to have him back.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted November 22, 2002 I'm glad to hear that. Politically Incorrect was the only political show i ever watched and i missed it when it was cancelled.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted November 22, 2002 Another show no one will watch. Maher just isn't popular with most people, and this won't be any different.
Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted November 22, 2002 Politically Incorrect was 100x better when it was on Comedy Central before ABC anyway. Cable should be a good move for him.
Guest cynicalprofit Report post Posted November 22, 2002 He gets to swear, Im all for it.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted November 22, 2002 Bah, I could care less about BM. Although I did find it funny how he seems to be a pro-military guy and got run out of ABC because of making some "mean" anti-military 9/11 remarks. I liked Pol. Incorrect's idea, but I didn't like how the show was executed. However, I never saw it when it was on Comedy Central...
Guest cynicalprofit Report post Posted November 22, 2002 I thought they kicked him for making anti bush anti government remarks.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted November 22, 2002 He said something that woulden't even make a blimp three months later...Over recations all around. Good thought...He can replace Dennis Miller...
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted November 22, 2002 He made some crack at how our military was cowardly by shooting missiles thousands of miles away at a target while the WTC attackers had "guts" to blow themselves up. Here's the actual quote: “We're the cowards. Lobbing cruise missiles from 2,000 miles away, that's cowardly. Staying in the airplane when it hits the building -- say what you want about it, that's not cowardly.”
Guest Kingpk Report post Posted November 23, 2002 As long as he doesn't think people want to know what Z-level "celebrities" (i.e. Bruce Villanche) think about world events and not overstock the show with Liberals that beat up on the only guest that isn't, he should do ok. Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted November 23, 2002 I'll watch it. If it's no good I'll come back here and bitch about it. And the world will continue to turn.
Guest Vyce Report post Posted November 23, 2002 Oh good, I was wondering what he'd do now that he doesn't have a forum to voice his idiotic opinions. That show DRAMATICALLY changed once it left Comedy Central. Back on CC, Bill would actually let his guests voice their thoughts.....and wouldn't bitterly argue with them over it. When he moved to ABC, it degenerated to Bill voicing HIS opinion about whatever, and as soon as a guest gave an opinion that differed from his own in the slightest way, he would jump down their throats. At first, it was amusing, until he got increasingly bitter & cynical, and then it just lost all humor and appeal to me. But don't be fooled - Bill didn't get fired for making anti-government / military commentary. That's just his spin. He got fired for making anti-government / military commentary and having SHIT ratings. If he had been pulling a decent ratings point, he'd have never been canned. Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted November 23, 2002 Maher said on his last show that the ratings were actually very good and at times rivalled those of Leno and Letterman. I agree though how Bill always had to get his way on the show - like how they would be arguing something and if he were losing he would bring up something that he was always in the right in. It annoyed me. But, with that said, it was probably the only show I watched that made me think - which normally would be a shot against myself for not watching any intellectually/politically stimulating television - but today there just aren't any. Guest Flyboy Report post Posted November 23, 2002 Good thought...He can replace Dennis Miller... Dennis Miller is funny... very funny at times.. Bill Maher on the other hand.....
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted November 23, 2002 Maher said on his last show that the ratings were actually very good and at times rivalled those of Leno and Letterman. On his last show. Big deal. He wasn't doing anything in the ratings prior to that last show.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted November 23, 2002 "That show DRAMATICALLY changed once it left Comedy Central. That's because there wasn't enough time on ABC to get his guests' thoughts in because of the 20 commercial breaks...
