Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 I was watching highlights the other night and I think the Rockets were playing the Timberwolves, not totally sure. For some reason he D'd up on a guard or small forward. They did a cross over and Yao shuffled his feet and fell backwards without contact. It was funny as hell. They showed the opponents sidelines and they were all rolling on the floor laughing their asses off. edit:it was Stephon Marbury and the Phoenix Suns
Guest razazteca Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 guards can do lay ups easy on Yao Ming, but if you seen the highlights against the Mavericks, you would see another classic........Yao Ming slam dunking on Shawn Bradley! Yao Ming is nearly unstoppable on the offensive side, hell he only missed 4 shots all season! Within 10 feet from the net you cannot stop Ming, as seen by Bradley trying to play defense on him.
Guest ant_7000 Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 What you expect PG's can easily blow by Centers but he fell so it was funny. Yao is no joke like some people thought, I didn't think he was going develop this quickly.
Guest Choken One Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 Yeah, he was a bust for about 10 minutes...Then Steve Franchise went "Yo, Big Fucker! Step Up!" Yao goes "Yassum". BOOM! 19 pts on Shaqless Lakes...ok lucky break...WHAT? 30 on undefeated MAVS? Damn...he be real for now...Can't wait for the REAL SHOWDOWN of giants...Shaq-Yao. Oughta be a classic just for Whatever dumb ignorant statements Shaq makes.
Guest The Electrifyer Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 I never believed in all the Yao bashing by many skeptics, I always believed in him, but I was surprised when I saw him hit 30 points on the Mavs. I knew he was going to break out of his shell, but I expected it to be next season when that happened. The thing that really gets my attention about Yao is his feild goal percentage, which is now .720... very impressive for a guy who can shoot jumpers. Just give Yao some more time though, this is his first season outside of China, wait till he gets comfortable.
Guest ant_7000 Posted November 23, 2002 Report Posted November 23, 2002 He dropped 18 tonight in his 1st start and grab 8 boards.
Guest The Electrifyer Posted November 23, 2002 Report Posted November 23, 2002 That 18 points was Houston's leading scorer, he also got 4 blocks and Houston got the win.
Guest Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye Posted November 26, 2002 Report Posted November 26, 2002 Shaq/Ming would be interesting to see just for how well Yao can handle getting really physical and banging with a man like Shaq. Oh and I would fall on my ass with confused feet against starbury's crossover to.
Guest El Satanico Posted November 26, 2002 Report Posted November 26, 2002 I also figured it would be a season or two before he broke out. If he's doing this well already just imagine when he bulks up some.
Guest Redhawk Posted November 29, 2002 Report Posted November 29, 2002 Yao reminds me of Ivan Drago from Rocky IV... (Dale Davis and Yao line up for the tip-off to their first round playoff series) Dale: It's go time, rookie! Yao: I must break you. Dale: What? Man, don't get busted on by my boy Rasheed! Yao: You will lose.
Guest Polish_Rifle Posted November 29, 2002 Report Posted November 29, 2002 Yao has actual basketball knowledge so he will never be a big, useless lug like Shawn Bradley. He actually has very good fundamentals, so I see him producing in the league as long as he continues to build on his upper body strength.
