I don't have any contentious statements to make, but I wanted to make some announcements without starting my own threads and this seemed like a good place to do it. I finally picked up Yankee Hotel Foxtrot a couple of weeks ago, and after a few listens, I can definitely say that it is a contender for album of the year, though in my mind it hasn't knocked out Source tags quite yet. But maybe it will after some more listening.

 

Also, I'm not sure if I've said anything negative about Neutral Milk Hotel around here before, though I might have because I used to really hate them. If I did, I apologize, because I was wrong. I re-listened to In the Aeroplane Over the Sea tonight, and it's a fine fucking album. I don't know what I was thinking.

I can see where a disdain for Neutral Milk Hotel arises--one could argue that they can come off as precious and (gasp!) pretentious. However, anyone who would say that is an ignorant fool, as In the Aeroplane Over the Sea is a wonderful disc. Glad to see you've come around, Cannon.

I don't like the Doors. Never have. The music was boring, and Morrison's self-important "poetry" was laughable at best; tedious at worst. They can go on tour and make records all they want for what I care.
