Mike, if you're into shoot style, I'd definately check out Shamrock's early work. He has a great match with Naoki Sano (who's one of the most underrated performers ever) that if you're into the style, I think stacks up well against his match wis Michaels. But then again, shoot-style isn't for everyone.>>

Nah, not into shoot style. I have seen nothing of Sano since the VERY early 90's (his matches with Liger and his brief run in the not-good SWS). Honestly, the only time I REALLY liked Shamrock's work was around the time he won the I-C Title.

The WWF pushed him as this monumental bad-ass; a kick you in the face and MAKE you like it kind of guy. That character worked for him and his ring work (IMO, not a strong point) seemed to work a little better with that character as well.

<<And get the Bret/Flair and Bret/Owen iron man matches if you don't have them already. >>

Got both of them (took me forever to find a really good VQ copy of the Flair/Hart match). Terrific matches and it makes the abysmal WM12 match that much more odd (OK, it wasn't ABYSMAL---but it wasn't good)

I still attribute THAT to both men basically obsessing over the time and neither guy going along with the more intelligent choice of having multiple decisions.

60-minute, one-fall matches work best when the match is not announced as lasting an hour ahead of time. If the fans KNOW a match will go 60 minutes, the wrestlers would be wise to try and slice the match up into smaller increments (through multiple decisions)

             -=Mike

Shamrock's UFC matches are way better than anyhting he did in the WWF. I loved him in the WWF but you are really missing out if you haven't seen him in some of his classic matches in UFC.
