ROH QUESTIONS

Do they film all the shows? Can you bring signs? Are first row worth the $30 a ticket? Is there autogrpah signings or anything of that nature? What can one expect?

Trying to decide if I should go or not.

Yes, they film all the shows, that's how they make a profit. The best they can do with live gates is break even, so far.

You can bring signs, but outside of the usual bunch of mark yahoos, it's a heavily smark crowd, so it's discouraged.

First row aren't worth $30 a ticket, there's a good view from anywhere at Murphy Rec, and the building is so fucking hot a lot of the first rowers leave and you can take their seats.

When I went (9/21) there was an autograph signing/photo op/fan festival, I'm not sure if that's a regular thing though.

Of the three ROH shows I've seen, here's what you can expect.

There are three major portions of an ROH show:

1. Spotfests from guys like Red, SAT, Divine Storm, and Special K (Insane Dragon/Izzy, Brian XL, Dixie usually).

2. Very matwork-intensive, psychology driven matches from American Dragon, Doug Williams, Jay Briscoe, Donovan Morgan, and until recently James Maritato.

3. Very stiff hard-hitting matches from Low Ki, Samoa Joe, and Homicide.

The main eventers (Ki, AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels) can generally work all three of these styles very well and float between them.

There's also usually one garbage brawl involving Carnage Crew, Hit Squad, or Natural Born Sinners (Boogalou of NHS is in XPW now though), and couple of comedy matches with Dunn & Marcos, Christopher Street Connection, and the Boogie Knights.

Overall, I'd highly recommend checking out Ring of Honor, they look like they're on track to be the next ECW-like cult fad.

Edit: For sheer markout value, it's cool to see a lot of the TNA X-Division guys live in an intimate setting.

Also, you gotta see the TWA students in action, they're incredible. Paul London and Michael Shane are the next big breakout stars in the indies.

If this'll help, here's a breakdown of the current roster:

Guys who rule:

Low Ki, AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, Red, Jay and Mark Briscoe, Paul London, Michael Shane, Steve Corino, American Dragon, Doug Williams, Samoa Joe, EZ Money

Guys who are good/above average:

SAT, Divine Storm, Donovan Morgan, Special K, Da Hit Squad, Tony Mamaluke, CM Punk, Colt Cabana, Bio-Hazard, Don Juan, Scoot Andrews, Homicide

Guys who suck:

Carnage Crew, Prince Nana, Joey Matthews & Christian York, Xavier (I know he's had good matches, but the ones I've seen have all sucked)

Guys who are funny:

Boogie Knights, Christopher Street Connection, Dunn & Marcos.

Im going to the 1/11 show which is in west miffin pa....so im not worried about the sign thing, I was just gonna make something fun like "CYNICALPROFIT IS A SMARk GOD" just so I could make the board a little pissed if they ever saw the tape and make anyone who watch the show go, what was that all about.

I hate Prince Nana. ROH is really good. Definately worth going. I was kicking myself for days for not going to the Wakefield show up here in Mass.
