Guest treble charged Report post Posted November 23, 2002 Say you're of legal age (or, even if you're not, I guess) to buy alcohol, cigarettes, lottery tickets, or other things with age restrictions on them, are you asked to show ID, or are you able to get what you want hassle-free? I can't buy booze yet anyway, and I never buy cigarettes, even if someone asks me to. I'm not going to aid and abet their habit. I don't get carded buying lottery tickets, and I've determined that I stopped being carded when I grew the Lincoln beard. I'm afraid to shave it, I'll look 15 or something. I ceased to be carded for R-rated movies around the time I was 19, though I was actually carded when I saw Punchdrunk Love about a month ago, at the age of 23. To make it even better, I hadn't shaved in a couple of days, so I looked way older than I was, AND it was a weekday afternoon. Once in a while I'll get carded while buying beer or something, but since I look older than I actually am (The fact that I'm starting to lose my hair is finally working to my advantage! And I havn't been carded for Beer or anything like that since I became legal, hell even when I was underage and using a fake ID I normally got away with it. HOWEVER, anyone who doesn't know me will instantly place my age at about 16-17. It's quite funny meeting people at work..."What school do you go to?" "Dalhousie University." "WHAAAAAAA?" Quite humourous the other day actually...Picked up a 6-Pack, and before I got NEAR the counter, the guy was like "Let's see some ID." As I'm pulling it out, he asks "You just turn 19?" "Actually, I'm 20 in less then a month." He gives me one of those "Bullshit" smiles, and I hand him my ID. His jaw hit the floor. No one believes my age... And there is a liquor store where my friends buy cigs and I go cuz I am the only one out of my group that drives and they know we are under age but they dont give a shit. I solved that buy whipping out my credit card/ATM card ahead of time.. I don't buy cigarettes and I've pretty much stayed away from trying purchase my own alcohol (not being 21, yet..6 months away..) I've always looked older than I am - people tell me that all the time. Hell I had a stripper tell me I looked 26 or so - not sure if that is a compliment (I'm 22). Last time I went grocery shopping I picked up a six pack and didn't get carded. That's the first time I can remember not getting carded since I turned 21. Strip clubs, of course they card. They could get into deep shit if the cops raid the place and find out they're letting minors in.
