I'm surprised by the Timoth Dalton love, he's usually considered the worst, but he gets more flack than he deserves. It's just that he was an abrupt shift from Moore and harkened back to Connery without his charm and humor. Now, Brosnan is someone who has those traits down and he's really coming into his own. They'll be hard pressed to replace him when the time comes. Moore had his own way of doing things, but he hung on way too long, should have ducked out after For Your Eyes Only. Connery though is the man who made the series in the first place and understood the character better than anyone ever will.

I heard on some special that each generation has their own Bond and that man will always be special to them. I think that explains the Dalton love. For a small group of people in their late teens and early twenties now, Dalton was their Bond. I wonder if anyone can consider George Lazenby to be theirs?

Dalton ownorz all. Connery may have been more suave and well-rounded but no Bond ever fucked up shit good with such sadistic glee as Dalton did in License to Kill.

I like Pierce Brosnan, followed shortly by Sean Connery. All of the other Bonds never really did anything for me, although I am a mark for any Bond movie.

I also love all the Bond movies, but Pierce is my favorite Bond. I'm not really sure why, he just seems like the most interesting of the 5. I also really liked The World is Not Enough, which it seems like many people hated. Go figure. Maybe we should start a favorite Bond Movie thread.

I voted for Connery, but Dalton is a close second. He was the least charming of them all, yet I always found him to be the most likable one. Go figure. He was the Anti-Moore--more of a badass, less of a gambling womanizer, and was very believable in the role of a secret agent. Roger Moore was like Hugh Hefner as James Bond.

 

I love that shot in The Living Daylights, where you first see Dalton's face (when he hears the scream and whips his head around).

I read Adam West's bio and in it, he said he met Cubby Broccoli in England while they were still searching for a new Bond and he offered him the job. West refused, saying he didn't think a non-Englishmen would be accepted in the role. He thought he could do the part, but the fans would reject him.

 

What I find odd is that Roger Moore is the only true Englishman to play him. Connery is Scottish, Dalton is Welsh, Brosnan is Irish and Lazenby is Australian. If you count the spoof Casino Royale, then David Niven is English too.

Voted for Connery, he was the first and his movies are still the best.

 

If I had to rank them I would have Brosnan next since he is a good balance of Moore's pretty boy style and Connery's slightly tougher persona. Moore goes next for longevity if nothing else. Lazenby next since he was in one hell of a good movie. Dalton last because he was sorta dreary and nondescript.

I voted for Connery, he almost made a cameo in the new one but for some reason that got cancelled.

I believe Brosnan has said now that he will do 2 or 3 more as long as he feels physically able to do so.

 

I've heard some mild rumbling about Clive Owen, who's the guy from the BMW commercial films, but it will most likely be a fairly unknown actor.

Bronsman is a good Bond, I have to give him that. And I would be glad to see him do a few more. But like most other sequals or series, they wont get better with every one.

I voted for Connery, who just ruled as Bond. Brosnan is good, but no one captured the smug charm of Bond better than Connery. I absolutely loathed Roger Moore, and I'm pretty indifferent toward the other two, though I tend to agree that Dalton gets a bum rap he really doesn't deserve.

1. Pierce Brosnan. I like his style and persona, and his manner of speach is the best of any of them. Brosnan is one of my favorite actors period, actually. Goldeneye is my favorite Bond movie.

 

2. Sean Connery. He did a great job with the role, I just like Brosnan's style a bit better. Most of his movies were good, From Russia With Love being the best.

 

3. Timothy Dalton. His more serious style was a breath of fresh air, particularly when he portrayed "Bond with a grudge" in License to Kill.

 

4. Roger Moore. Too many tits and ass jokes and stupid innuendo. He was in a lot of good Bond movies though, For Your Eyes Only being my favorite of his.

 

5. George Lazenby. Totally non-descript, a bad actor, and his only movie was not that great IMO.
