Guest the pinjockey Posted November 23, 2002 Report Posted November 23, 2002 Is anyone else watching the man who should be the Heisman Trophy winner Larry Johnson put on this show? He is already over 200 yards halfway through the second quarter.

And I don't care who it is against when you run for over 250 yards in one half you are good. Look at one of the other Heisman hopefuls, Willis McGahee, against Rutgers a 1-9 lightweight he ran for less than 200 yards and he played the whole game. And at least he had a passing game to deflect attention, everyone and their mother knew the ball was going to Johnson and they still had no chance to stop him.

I knew he needed over 250 to get 2000 and I thought he had a chance to do it, but I never thought he would ever be able to go 15 yards past it and not even play in the second half. I'd pick him to win it, but if he isn't going to I think he should at least be in the top 5 for Heisman. Every running back played against a bunch of weak teams, but he is the only one who ran 2000 yards. I think that should count for something.
Guest El Satanico Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 He may get invited to New York but he isn't going to win it. Voters see the Big Ten as a weak conference this year. And the fact that he was held to under 100 yards in his games against the top teams in the Big Ten is going to hurt him. I still stand by Ken Dorsey winning it unless someone has an amazing game next week to put himself firmly in the lead. All the voters will be watching next week and just one amazing game by a player next week could earn a player the award in an close year like this. It'll either be Dorsey or someone no one expected winning.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 Carson Palmer should win the Heisman. He's put up the numbers against the toughest schedule in the country. I don't think Dorsey is a lock anymore. It wouldn't shock me if he won, but Brad Banks seems to be gaining momentum. The only problem for Banks is his season is done and the voters might forget about him.

If he had played in the second half he would've broken Tomlinson's single game record of 406. But his games against Iowa, Ohio State, and Michigan (I think) will keep him out.
Guest jimmy no nose Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 ESPN's Heisman watch has Iowa QB Brad Banks in first place right now. Both Dorsey and McGahee got more first place votes, but he took enough second place votes to put him over them.
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted November 25, 2002 Report Posted November 25, 2002 If anybody from Miami should get the Heisman, it should be McGahee for saving their asses twice(Pitt and FSU). As far as I'm concerned, Dorsey blew his chance in the Pitt game during the first half.
