Guest Youth N Asia Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 Is it just me...or is Vice City way easier the GTA 3...I mean in 3 I used hella cheat codes, and in this one I don't have to. And they say the city is 3X bigger...I'm not seeing it, I already seem to have this one down where as I never got the one on 3 down where I could set myself to go anywhere. Feel free to contribute anything.
Guest GeneMean Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 How far in are you? I think it does come across as a little easier in some aspects due to the slight changes in targeting.
Guest EQ Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 I felt this game was a lot easier and shorter than 3. Like previously stated, they say the city is bigger, but it doesn't really feel that way. I got up to the last mission, and it's very hard... since I refuse to use cheats, I haven't gotten around to beating it yet (Metroid is taking up my gaming time right now)
Guest The Man in Blak Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 I've beat it...and, let me say, it is much easier than GTA3, mainly due to the weapons you get at the end. The only way that they make it more difficult is that they have cops jump out in front of you on the road half of the time, just to insure that you have two stars (an ultra cheap method if there ever was one). To me, it's really a great "expansion pack"...but it's not much of a standalone game. I had a lot of fun when I first started playing, but bug after bug (gang members pulling me out of cars for cops, cops "skating" to my car at high speed) and the fact that it felt like I was playing the same game I was last year kind of wore me down. Vice City's a good game, but it's certainly not that revolutionary and, in my opinion, it's not even a candidate for GOTY.
Guest Kingpk Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 Yeah, I'd agree that Vice City isn't my GOTY, since it's essentially GTA 3.5 (but that isn't necessarily a BAD thing) and there are more original, worthy candidates out there (Metroid, Sunshine, etc.). I thought the plot was kinda weak (you could call the ending about halfway in).
Guest The Notorious CRD Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 Some parts are easier, but there is still some challenge to the game. GTA 3.5 would be an accurate title and that's probably why Vice City isn't GTA4.
Guest EQ Posted November 25, 2002 Report Posted November 25, 2002 I agree... GTA 3.5 is accurate when describing VC... and I also agree, this isn't a bad thing. As far as GOTY, I can see it getting nominated, but I think Metroid will swipe that. (Maybe Splinter Cell, but who knows if the gameplay will be good)
Guest Youth N Asia Posted November 25, 2002 Report Posted November 25, 2002 I'm about at the end...I just have to wrap up a couple Malibu missions and then I guess I have a big showdown with another couple Tommy V missions. This game is so easy. I really would much rather have rented it and beat it over a weekend.
Guest EQ Posted November 25, 2002 Report Posted November 25, 2002 I don't wanna say I'd rather rent it. Cause, I'll probably play through it again, but I just wish it was longer. Give me more missions to do... something. Oh well, GTA4, here I come
Guest Kingpk Posted November 25, 2002 Report Posted November 25, 2002 Well, you do have a lot more to do: collect packages, do Rampages, Pizza Delivery, Vigilante, Paramedic, Firefighter, stunts, running up and down the street with a chainsaw like in some B-Movie.
Guest EQ Posted November 25, 2002 Report Posted November 25, 2002 yeah, but let's face it... most gamers arent going to do all that stuff. IMO taxi missions and delivering pizza is boring
Guest GeneMean Posted November 25, 2002 Report Posted November 25, 2002 I liked the pizza missions. Put the radio on VRock and just cruise. It helped me learn those specific areas of the city really well also. Plus the +50 to your max health for finishing made it a no brainer.
