6.17 GAEA-JAPAN  - MAYUMI OZAKI & KAORU  vs  LIONESS ASUKA & SAKURA HIROTA

 

Fun old-school styled tag match, with a classic story, as quintessential innocent babyface Hirota is isolated and mauled by the heels. A white hot crowd, and everybody involved delivers.

 

7.27 ZENJO - TOMOKO WATANABE & NANAE TAKAHASHI  vs  ETSUKO MITA & MIMA SHIMODA 2/3 FALLS

 

This is the rematch for the WWWA tag titles. Tons of near falls and big moves, coupled with a really feud-like atmosphere. Watanabe is particularly awesome in this. A great standalone match that's even better when you've seen their match from 5/4.

 

8.17 ZENJO - MANAMI TOYOTA  vs  KAORU ITO

 

JGP match that is a rematch from the 9/00 match that Ito won the title in. This is the birth of the 'new' Toyota, and damned if it isn't one of the best matches of the year. Lots of great wrestling from each of them, and the hardcore Korakuen crowd is overjoyed to see Toyota steal the show once again.

 

8.17 ZENJO - KUMIKO MAEKAWA  vs  MOMOE NAKANISHI

 

JGP finals match that occurred unannounced directly after the previous one. Watch Momoe call out Maekawa, watch fifteen minutes of breakneck action, watch Momoe bask in the glory of winning the JGP. The rivalry is in full swing.

 

9.26 JWP - YOSHIKO TAMURA  vs  RAN YU YU

 

From a JWP house show, two of the best (and coolest) unknown wrestlers in Japan face off in front of 140 people. Both are so versatile that they can work a good match in almost any style, and here they decide to take it to the mat and wear each other out. Stiff elbows and nasty submissions everywhere!

 

9.16 ZENJO - MOMOE NAKANISHI  vs  KAORU ITO

 

This is the title shot Nakanishi earned for winning the JGP. Excellent match between student and teacher, with great psychology, intensity, and some insane bumps by Nakanishi. Both really stepped up for this, and it shows.

 

10.24 ZENJO - MOMOE NAKANISHI  vs KUMIKO MAEKAWA

 

The rivalry continues in the form of a 60 minute draw. While this isn't the greatest 60 minute match I've ever seen, it's basically non-stop action and an awe inspiring look at the stamina and potential these two have. They bust out all the stops. Maekawa's kicks nearly kill Nakanishi several times over, and Nakanishi bumps like mad and delivers some beautiful high spots along the way.

 

11.23 JD' - SUMIE SAKAI  vs  THE BLOODY

 

The two best workers in Jd' meet up in a 60 minute ironman match for the double titles. Full of innovative moves, blood, and unique ironman match psychology. And also the pre-requisite Jd' face-first-dive-off-a-lighting-rig-through-tables style bumps. Clipped to about 45 minutes.

 

12.16 GAEA - AJA KONG  vs  MEIKO SATOMURA

 

The culmination of the years long feud is a match completely unlike it's predecessors. A really interesting match with a great story, as the roles have reversed, and Meiko finally takes the title.

 

12.15 ZENJO - KAORU ITO  vs  YUMIKO HOTTA CAGE WEAPONS DEATH MATCH

 

And finally, one for the vampires. The rematch from the harrowing 5/4 street fight won by Hotta. This time it’s for the title, and after this match Ito was out of action for two months, for good reason.
