If you wanna talk about that, then you must include Material Issue's "Valerie Loves Me." As for what I consider to be a one hit wonder--that is, a single that received major radio/video airplay by a band who dropped into obscurity shortly thereafter (and I don't think any of the ones you listed were that well known), I'd say my favorite is Harvey Danger's "Flagpole Sitta." Catchy but not annoying, it was a good song that was everywhere back in '99. Too bad the band never went anywhere after that; what's especially a shame is that they released a very good disc last year, King James Version, which was met with widespread apathy. If we're talking the actual band, then it's probably Blur: They had one major hit in America with a total novelty song, despite releasing several good-to-great albums and having a massive following in England. You're damn right "Flagpole Sitta"'s a great song! That's the very first MP3 I ever downloaded (talk about useless trivia), and still gets a bit of spin on my computer to this day. I never heard any songs off King James Version, or even saw it in stores, but its a good disc? I'll fire up the ol' KaZaA Lite and check it out. I also second "No Pigeons" being a funny parody, however I have a "remix" (which I put in quotes because it's one of those ones where it's not a remix so much as a "part II" since they change the beat AND the lyrics) which is even funnier because it's even more chauvinistic. Sporty Thievz was a decent group too, too bad they're not around anymore since one of their members was killed a few months back (or was it last year?). How about Tonic's "You Wanted More"? The selling point of this particular single always eluded me, but that's usually the case with novelty hits. And, yes, SPIN did label both Beck and Radiohead one hit wonders, much to the chagrin of their fanbase. I can see a lot of people in America knowing little about Radiohead aside from "Creep," but the Beck nod is inexcusable. I still hear "Devil's Haircut" on rock radio to this day, not to mention that "The New Pollution" and "Sexx Laws" have both gotten fairly regular rotation on MTV. I personally mark out for Hum - Stars Tripping Daisy - I Got a Girl Charlatans UK - The Only One Screaming Trees - Nearly Lost You BUTT Trumpet - You're Ugly Jeff Buckley - Last Goodbye I know i'm missing some... dude, i don't know what your definition is, but screaming trees and hum are not one-hit wonders. both those bands still have sizable fan bases. i have many friends that still listen to hum, and they make good albums. you might as well say liz phair was a one-hit wonder cause her only single that got significant attention was 'supernova'. and saying jeff buckley is a one-hit wonder is akin to saying the velvet underground was a two-hit wonder for 'sweet jane' and 'rock & roll' or the pixies were a one-hit wonder for 'monkey gone to heaven'. jeff buckley's got a pretty big and VERY loyal fanbase, and he's already grown into a kind of quasi-legend.
