Around the Horn & PTI

has anybody notice this? today both shows ran down the same topics, especially the SAP vs Green Bay Coach, Michael Jordan pulling a HHH power move, Lions overtime game. It seems that the only difference is that Max gets to mute the other sports writers.

I think they should just make it an hour show and just call it Sports Writers Version 3, it would be an hour of 6 sports writers ranting and yelling at each other over trivial topics of the day.

No.

Because PTI is ten times better than Around the Horn will ever be, and I don't want to have to see Max Kellerman on their set ever again.

I tend to agree with this.

Oh, fuck it. I REALLY agree with this. Wilbon and Kornheiser totally smush all of the columnists on Around the Horn combined. And Kellerman can take a long walk off of a short pier for all I care.

put Wilbon and Kornheiser on PTI and Mr Combover will get muted for the whole show. Really I think putting Wilbon, Kornheiser, Kellerman, Stuart Scott, and 2 other sports writers could make a better hour than having PTI and Around the Horn being split.

Max can shrill boxing

Scott can pretend he is Ja Rule

Wilbon & Kornheisser could agrue about Tennis women

its Sports Entertainment the Talk Show!

Speaking of PTI, I missed some shows a couple weeks ago and then when I caught it again, they were making fun of Stat Boy and Charles Barkley. Can someone tell what that was all about?

Charles made a bet that if Yao Ming scored 20 points or more that he would kiss the ass of Kenny Smith.

No, before that. Kornheiser and Wilbon were like saying that Stat Boy and Barkley were lovers or something. Which of course got a "What the?" response out of me.

not sure then, was it that Charles wants to be a politician? or that he likes Rush Limbaugh or white women?

Sir Charles has talked about being the Gov. of Alabama, and he has golfed with Rush. In addition his ex-wife was white, so I guess all your questions have been answered...

The only show better on ESPN than PTI was the old Sports Reporters when Schaap was still alive. That show ruled, people forget that PTI is essentially a spinoff of the old Sports Reporters. PTI is great but it's essentially just the two of them ranting. SR was Schaap trying to control madmen like Wilbon, Korheiser, Ryan, Lupica, etc.

Sports Reporters was the show I deemed "the old men that yell."

I loved the sports reporters. Did anyone ever pick up Schaap's book? Was it any good?

Stat Boy and Barkley supposedly kissed each other at a party on the weekend before that show aired.

Thing is, Wilbon is the PTI'er with a weird obsession with Sir Charles, mainly because they're good friends. Wilbon was also the Editor for Barkley's book.

According to both Kornheiser and Wilbon, PTI is the two of them doing on television the same thing they've been doing in the hallways of the Washington Post office building for 20 years.

PTI is just awesome in so many ways. I don't care much for Around the Horn as the host is uber annoying and everything he says sounds so forced. Oh yeah, he kind of reminds of Michael Cole.........

What's the deal with Woody Paige? Is he really that much of a jerk or is it an act?

I like Kellerman, actually. I tend to agree with a lot of his opinions when it comes to boxing, but not too much outside of that. PTI owns Around the Horn, though.

One thing that I love about the show is the chemistry those two men have. They just get so into what they are saying, and really know what they are talking about.

Hell, even my mom watches the show. She makes sure she watches it everyday. Well not really, my dad watches it everyday, and she is just in the room.

1) Kornheiser & Wilbon are respected journalists that have lots of knowledge about sports. Max Kellerman is a fucking nobody, that only knows boxing, and he's not even a master of that.

2) Tony & Wilbon bring humor to the show with their mostly intelligent bickering on sports topics. Around the Horn's humor is Max and Woody Paige hurling childish insults towards each other. I get humor out of the fact Max puts down Woody... considering Paige has shown he's extremely knowledgable at sports... more so than Bob Ryan who spouts the most bland lines with no meaning.

I still Around the Horn though, because Mariotti, Paige and TJ Simers know their shit... not because Max buzzes someone because they're from the west coast. Hehehehehe Max. It's like a mark coming to this board, and telling all the smarks to shut up.
