Look at it this way. In 1917, Russia was a backward state. By the 1950's, it was the second largest industrial power on earth.

It was backward because of a dictatorship. And it bas been severely in debt from 1918 until present say because of communism. Moreover, Russia's downfall in 1917 wasn't because of the lack of Communist leadership, it was because of war-time economy. They were blockaded by the Central Powers throughout the war, thus enabling them from recieving necessary goods for survival. They were driven into the ground by another power hungry embicile (Rasputin) which had nothing to do with Capitalism.

Don't try and play the history angle that Communism has EVER been a good thing. Even Hitler and Mussolini avoided that shit like it was the plague. It promotes laziness and fear within the ranks. Some people don't have to do shit, while others have to work extremely hard. People are put to work in factories for pennies - which was a common wage. Russia may have been a strong industrial state by the 50's, but it was terrible living conditions.

Okay, this is as much a troll as AngleOlympic Slam ever was if you remember him.

You can't even put together the old phrase "the pot calling the kettle black" means either you're actually a sixth grader with a textbook or (and probably) just a gimmick poster starting a fight.

Which leads me to wonder why on earth I'm feeding you like this...

Man, I feel like a shmoe, writing out a long response for the case against Communism, only to have it ignored and realize this is a joke thread about pringles :( carry on!

Julian, Junah: it's obvious you're making these posts to get a reaction, not because you believe in something. That's what we call trolling, and this is your one-time warning to cease and desist.

DrTom, I ignore that warning as it is an attempt by the Bourgeois elite to silence the working class.

You TOTALLY just started learning about this in school. How sad. Who refers to anyone as the bourgousie anymore?

Yeah, this is really pissing me off.

You're like these people I know, who make jokes about their communist beliefs and how inferior it is to our current condition, blisfully unaware/ignorant that other people around them (eg. myself) actually have Left opinions and don't appreciate such jokes.

What you are doing is not only infantile, inane and stupid, it is offensive. The fact you've been warned to stop and choose to ignore it show you are the stupidheads we believe you to be.

So, in closing, get a life, loser.

It just makes me laugh that people STILL think Communism works with limited resources after seeing the USSR tank itself and China faltering until they tried that "Capitalism thingamagig".

Enjoy your tractors, boys.

Seems like it worked, too.

Exactly. I found all of this offensive, as I do when anyone makes fun of the left without foundation for it.

I find some people who believe in it to be equally damaging.

And China, lets say this. 20 years ago they implimented a rule saying families can only have one child. They'd be fined, or worse for doing differently. Tell me, would a deomocratic state allow this? Or would only a greedy power hungry dictator implement this?

I'm not really defending this law, since it's led to many innocent baby girls being suffocated because having a son to carry on the family name is so important in Chinese society, but how else is China supposed to curb their massive overpopulation? I can imagine they'd be in the 2-3 billion mark were it not for this law.

The law is admirable and genius.

The cultural appendicies make it unfortunate.

Still, it had to be done, and might need to be done elsewhere soon. India is rapidly getting out of hand, as are other densely populated countries like Indonesia and Bangladesh.

This is true, but I don't really think the law would work if it weren't for a nation with as... "oppressive" a government as China. An idea I've actually had in the past to curb overpopulation is to go one step further and have a country put a "ten year moratorium" on reproduction, however again this wouldn't really work without any measures other than a draconian Fortress-like enforcement, plus there would be the desire for families to have as many children as possible, whether they were financially or emotionally mature enough, in the years beforehand so they don't "miss out" during the moratorium, which would negate the purpose of curbing overpopulation and responsibile reproduction.

You're very right. It's unfortunate that other countries lack the real federal structure to implement such a measure. As a result, democracies will be overrun with people in a matter of 100 years, while oppressed nations will have plenty of room and resources to stretch out and enjoy their weeky five minute freedom break.

Democracy + Fucking = OVERPOPULATION!!

Yea, I guess millions upon millions of innocent babies deserve to die because of this.

The law is a double edged sword, but I guess I am more of a *gasp* humanitarian than a realist.

Seeing as how one of the first things Bush did when he got into office was cut funding to contraceptive/Planned Parenthood-ish groups (sorry I don't know the proper term) overseas, I'd have to agree.

I don't make unfounded statements.

Instead of dropped condoms, it'd probably be bush in an airplane with a megaphone "DON'T HAVE SEX!! IT'S WRONG!! ABSTAIN!!!!!"

Hey everybody: I think we have gotten off topic. We're now talking about Bush, Republican Congress, safe-sex/contraception, China's reproduction policy, threats of banning, etc. I think we have lost sight of the one important thing in this thread.

What if I'd rather have Jalepeno Krunchers? Are we only allowed to eat state-distributed chips? If so, sucks to that.
