Guest ArkhamGlobe Report post Posted February 5, 2002 AFI - Who? Tiger Army - Who? Danzig Era Misfits - Haven't heard enough to form an opinion. Graves Era Misfits - See above. Dead Kennedys - Excellent. A New Found Glory - Who? Code 13 - Who? Minor Threat - I remember liking them when I was thirteen. Black Flag - Liked what I've heard. Buzzcocks - Liked what I've heard. GG Allin - Who? Aus Rotten - Who? Circle Jerks - Who? Vandals - Who? The Sounds of Liberty (TSOL) - Who? Offspring - Bleh. The Ramones - Good, but I prefer to listen to them in moderate doses, otherwise they get very repetitive (for me, anyway). Rancid - Good. Guttermouth - Who? Guest gthureson Report post Posted February 5, 2002 AFI: S'okay. Won't go out of my way to hear them. Tiger Army: Who? Danzig Era Misfits: Never a big fan. Graves Era Misfits: Ditto Dead Kennedys: Occassionally brilliant, sometimes utter shit, almost always amusing, admire Jello for having a stand to take. A New Found Glory: Eh. Code 13: Eh. Minor Threat: I love these guys in a platonic music fanboy sort of way. Black Flag: Henry Rollins is a fascinating guy, a great spoken word guy, can be funny as hell. That being said, not a fan of Black Flag. Buzzcocks: Good little band. GG Allin: What can you say about a guy who kept his career going by people hoping the show they attended would the one where he finally offed himself on stage? If you were into shock value over music, then sure. But GG Allin the artist? Nothing to write home about. Aus Rotten: Eh? Circle Jerks: They've done some good stuff. They've done some crap too. Probably overstayed their welcome. Vandals: Amusing little band. The Sounds of Liberty (TSOL): Eh. Offspring: They were only barely punk even at the start of their rise to power, they have moved into arena rock areas now. They were better before everybody knew they only had about three or four songs. The Ramones: Its fashionable these days to heap praise on them because Joey is dead. However, the only two Ramones albums you need are Ramones and Ramones Leave Home. Maybe Rocket to Russia. After that, everything else is pretty much the same thing in different order for subsequent albums. The only time the sound changed is when the lineup changed, and even then, it wasn't by much. A fun band, a long lasting band, a good band. But they blew their creative load on the first two albums, and not much changed in the next 20 years. Rancid: I like Rancid. Took me awhile to get into Life Won't Wait. Its more like their 'Sandinista' than their 'London Calling'. And hey, it took some balls to not just make '..And Out Come the Wolves Part Deux'. But..final judgement will come with their next album. If they can keep it going after they reggae card has been played and deliver, then they may make some all-time lists. If not, thats fine. They still put out some good albums that I can still go back and listen to now. Guttermouth: Decent. Nothing earth shattering.

Guest EI Cubano Report post Posted February 10, 2002 AFI: Good but not great Danzig Era Misfits: AWESOME Graves Era Misfits: blah Dead Kennedy's:semi-catchy but overrated as hell, Biafra had one of the most annoying voices I have ever head but some people love it. A New Found Glory: My current FAVORITE band and just fucking insanely good live, I have been following them since we used to them play in their hometown of Coral Springs, FL like 5 years ago. They are going to be huge some day. Minor Threat: Time hasn't done their material well in my opinion Circle Jerks: That yellow cd with the two older albums both on it was awesome but the newer cd with Debbie Gibson doing backing vocals was just aweful. Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted February 10, 2002 I'm only going to do the ones I am really familar with:AFI A New Found Glory...good sound, but whimpy lyrics...I still have their cds though. Vandals...I guess they would be the godfathers of MODERN punk...one of my favorite anyway. (Hitler Bad, Vandals Good is a must have) Offspring...they seem more of a rock band to me then a punk band. Great stuff though. The Ramones...overrated...don't get me wrong, I like the band, but they don't live up to the hype...real hit and miss. Today's "punk" bands seem to be diced up as: 33% Rock 33% Alternative 33% Emo 1% Punk
