Guest SP-1 Report post Posted November 30, 2002 Just wondering on some other people's thought about Enterprise and if you're pumped for the upcoming release of Nemesis. Personally, I feel that Enterprise is much like TNG in that after it's second season, it will find it's heart and pace. I hope so, at least. I feel that they should concentrate on the pioneer aspects of the show, give the ship's computer systems some kinks, some bugs, etc. I also feel that the crew of the good ship Enterprise NX-01 should . . . fail. Fail miserably at something important. Be defeated, have their asses handed to them. I think they should concentrate on the fact that this is the first Earth crew to hit the stars like this, and in that they will face hardships and make big mistakes along the way. As for Nemesis, I'm eager to see it. From what Patrick Stewart has said in interviews, is sounds like a very emotional and action packed film that is different from what has come before in many aspects. I may have the opportunity to see it a day before it comes out, so that'll be fun. SP
Guest starvenger Report post Posted November 30, 2002 Of the "new" generation Trek shows, Enterprise ranks a close 3rd behind TNG and DS9. It's not a bad show, but I agree with you that the crew needs to fail some of the time. After all, they are the first deep space vessel from Earth, and they're bound to make mistakes. And not that I mind that much, but they need to drift away from creating scenarios where T'Pol and/or Hoshi wear little clothing. Looking forward to Nemisis. Mind you, after Insurrection, almost any Trek movie would be better. And rumour has it that they may spin off a new series for one of the ships in the movie. Should be interesting. Guest SP-1 Report post Posted November 30, 2002 I agree on the T'Pol/Hoshi remarks. It doesn't make much sense to me for anyone on that ship to not be wearing something that appears at least a little warm. NX-01 seems a bit cold in it's design, and it's color/lighting scheme. I think that their flightsuit uniforms were perfect for the show, as it makes it seem as if Space is indeed a cold, harsh place in some small way. It's little touches like that that are there (and at times blatantly contradicted), that both impress me and tick me off with the show. Now if only they'd put that much effort into the stories . . . Insurrection was okay, but it was one of the weaker films. Seemed like an episode of TNG with a bigger budget in some ways. In some ways that's good, and in some ways that was to it's detriment. The rumors about Nemesis and the possibilities it may present for spinoffs and how the casts may be assembled for possible future films certainly add to the hype for the film. I'm certainly looking forward to how those things play out.
Guest DrTom Report post Posted November 30, 2002 Enterprise is OK, but I really haven't watched a lot of it this season. Nemesis is an even-numbered Trek film, so it should be good for that reason alone. My problem with the TNG Trek movies is that they're basically two-hour episodes with better special effects. I'm hoping this one breaks that cycle.
Guest SP-1 Report post Posted December 1, 2002 Hopefully, it will do that. John Logan has some pretty good films to his credit as a scriptwriter, and Stuart Baird is a new slant on things so hopefully it's something different.
