Guest Downhome Report post Posted December 1, 2002 I was looking up information on this, what WILL be a GREAT Pro. Wrestling game, as I was just about to buy an import PS2 to go along with my US released version, just to play this game. I then came upon this short article over at GameSpot that was posted way back on 05/31/02... "Bam Entertainment will publish versions of Spike's Fire Pro Wrestling and King of Colosseum in the US. Bam Entertainment, the publisher of Wipeout Fusion and World Rally Championship, has secured the rights to publish Japanese developer Spike's popular pro wrestling games in the United States--Fire Pro Wrestling for the GameCube and King of Colosseum for the PlayStation 2, as well as the previously announced Fire Pro Wrestling 2 for the Game Boy Advance. Bam is currently evaluating specifics regarding a timeline for the release of the GameCube and PS2 games. Stay tuned for more details as they become available." ...now I assume there is truth behind this, as Fire Pro. Wrestling 2 for the GBA did indeed come out a while ago. If you know nothing about this game, then check THIS out. The following is from http://www.spike-online.net/koc/ and it's a MUST SEE people! Go to that site for more pictures, character models, and even videos of the game in action. I hope it does make it to the US, because not only will it save me a few hundred bucks, but it will be in English (although I LOVE Japanese commentating in games, like Giant Gram 2000, so that will be missed!). I can only hope it will have the greatess of the Fire Pro series, in a 3D enviroment, like Giant Gram 2000. If so, this could very well end up being my favorite video game, of all time. Anyhow... ...do any of you know about this, any more than I've said here? Sincerely, ...Downhome...

Guest Downhome Report post Posted December 1, 2002 Ah f*ck it, here is the entire IGN article, lol... " We wish this were a Fire Pro Wrestling game. Time and again, the classic series has delivered the finest in wrestling action, adventure, and customization to fans of the sport, with the minimum of extra frills to get in the way of the pure pro grappling goodness. Unfortunately, things sometimes don't work out that way, and it's not as if Spike's King of Colosseum doesn't have an awful lot going for it regardless. One, it's in realtime 3D. Two, it features licensed wrestlers and promotions, which Fire Pro never has. Three, it spreads those licenses across multiple expansion discs, allowing fans to grab their particular favorites or a broad collection of wrestlers. Two volumes have been announced so far: King of Colosseum Red will arrive in September with All Japan Pro-Wrestling, New Japan Pro-Wrestling, and Pancrase stars, followed by King of Colosseum Green in November with Pro Wrestling NOAH and ZERO-ONE. Spike hopes to release more discs in the future, including famous stars of the past and lesser-known independent promotions. King of Colosseum's 3D grappling system is based on that featured in the PlayStation All Japan game, King's Soul. Offense and defense are integrated into the same timing-based grappling scheme. Grappling can be initiated in different ways, though -- the intent is to include the feel of both traditional wrestling and more contemporary shootfighting. As in Fire Pro, when wrestlers contact each other, they lock up, and the player who enters their command quicker executes their move. Trying too strong a move will lead to a counter, though, so you can't just start powerbombing your opponent left and right in an early stage of the match. Meanwhile, it's also possible to initiate grappling via the amateur takedown, which leads to a different tree of possible outcomes. The best possible timing when shooting in means the aggressor takes the full mount, and can transition from there to strikes and submission moves. However, if the defender has the better timing, they can counter with moves like the front facelock while standing, or a variety of submissions on the ground. The plan is to include around 250 wrestlers, about 130 of which are licensed. The game's create-a-wrestler feature includes more than 1,500 different outfits, 2,200 maneuvers including taunts and feints, and 150 pieces of entrance music, both licensed and original -- Spike claims the customization features will "surpass Fire Pro." Blow-by-blow will be provided by Kazuo Yamasaki, formerly of the UWF and New Japan, with color by NOAH's Mitsuo Momota, and All Japan founder Giant Baba apparently also pops up here and there to provide useful explanations. The wrestler list is not complete as yet, but here's a preliminary listing of the stars appearing from each announced promotion. The New Japan, All Japan, Pancrase, and Free Lance sections are complete, but the full lists of NOAH and ZERO-ONE stars are not yet available. New Japan Pro-Wrestling Tatsumi Fujinami Kensuke Sasaki Yuji Nagata Manabu Nakanishi Shiro Koshinaka Takashi Iizuka Yutaka Yoshie Osamu Nishimura Atsushi Onita Kengo Kimura Jushin Thunder Liger El Samurai Minoru Tanaka Masayuki Naruse Masahiko Kakihara Shinya Makabe Kenzo Suzuki Hiroshi Tanahashi Wataru Inoue Katsuyori Shibata Katsushi Takemura Blue Wolf Super J Dr. Wagner Jr. Dan Devine Black Cat Masahiro Chono Hiroyoshi Tenzan Hiro Saito Tatsutoshi Goto Koji Kanemoto AKIRA Jado Gedo Scott Norton Giant Silva Giant Singh Black Tiger III GOKUDO All Japan Pro-Wrestling Giant Baba Keiji Muto Kokushi-Musou Toshiaki Kawada Satoshi Kojima Great Muta Taiyo Kea Masanobu Fuchi Hiroshi Hase Mitsuya Nagai Kendo Ka Shin Tokimitsu Ishizawa Hideki Hosaka Shigeo Okamura Kaz Hayashi Tomoaki Honma Kazushi Miyamoto Jimmy Yang Steve Williams Johnny Smith Mike Barton Abdullah the Butcher George Hines Mike Rotundo Jim Steele Giant Kimura Genichiro Tenryu Arashi Nobutaka Araya Nobukazu Hirai Hybrid Wrestling Pancrase Masakatsu Funaki Yuki Kondo Yoshiki Takahashi Minoru Suzuki Kiuma Kunioku Osami Shibuya Ikuhisa Minowa KENGO Kei Yamamiya Sanae Kikuta Akihiro Gono Yuki Sasaki Kiyoshi Tamura (U-FILE CAMP) Free Lance Riki Chosyu Tadao Yasuda Michiyoshi Ohara Don Frye Pro Wrestling NOAH Mitsuharu Misawa Kenta Kobashi Akira Taue Jun Akiyama Takao Omori Yoshihiro Takayama ZERO-ONE Shinya Hashimoto Shinjiro Otani Tatsuhito Takaiwa Though King of Colosseum is almost certainly not going to receive an American release, we'll continue to follow it assiduously for all the puroresu fans in attendance. Again, you can look forward to the first installment in the game, Red, in September, with Green coming in November and future installments hopefully to follow. We'd like the Toryumon/Michinoku/Osaka Pro/DDT/ZIPANG/SPWC disc first, please. -- David Smith" ...if that doesn't get you pumped up like a mother f*cker, then NOTHING will! Guest Downhome Report post Posted December 1, 2002 Just for the record... "Though King of Colosseum is almost certainly not going to receive an American release, we'll continue to follow it assiduously for all the puroresu fans in attendance." ...they posted that BEFORE Spike and whoever is involved in this game annouced it coming to the US, so do not despair. I just hope they haven't changed their mind yet!

Guest Downhome Report post Posted December 2, 2002 Delphi or EZ? I was at both of them, I don't remember which was first though, lol. Yeah, the Xbox is dying for a wrestling game, although, so is the GamCube. *thinks of WMX8* *shudders in fright* *things of RAW* *shudders in fear*

Guest Grenouille Report post Posted December 3, 2002 Here's a little more info on KOC. -Official Release date 12/19 in Japan, I doubt a US release is coming. -The Japanese HDD is required to have matches between the Red and Green discs. F'n Spike, they use a piece of shit that's discontinued in Japan, and expensive as all hell. I paid $200 for my Japanese PS2, it'd cost another $250 for an HDD. -Spider Muta is in the game -Hiddens Kuniaki Kobayashi Seiji Sakaguchi Osamu Kido Great Muta Power Warrior Kendo KaIshiizawa Super Strong Machine Black Cat -List of people that will be in under assumed names Kazushi Sakuraba Tsuyoshi Kousaka Nobuhiko Takada Akira Maeda Hiromitsu Kanehara Takeda Minoru Fujita Kazunari Murakami Dory Funk Jr. Mirko Crocop Arnesto Hoost Peter Aerts Mike Bernardo Jerome Le Banner Mark Hunt Mark Kerr Mark Coleman Gary Goodridge Igor Vovchanchin Vanderlei Silva Heath Herring Rampage Jackson Semmy Schilt Carlos Newton Ricardo Arona Gilbert Yvel Volk Han Andre Kobiroff Lenart Bable? Guest mach7 Report post Posted December 5, 2002 Uh, incase you hadn't heard, Bam/Spike reported huge losses this year and have stated that thet will cease production on all NON-CORE projects. That means KOH for PS2 and Firepro for GC aren't being ported as hoped.
Guest Grenouille Report post Posted December 6, 2002 Uh, incase you hadn't heard, Bam/Spike reported huge losses this year and have stated that thet will cease production on all NON-CORE projects. That means KOH for PS2 and Firepro for GC aren't being ported as hoped. Spike isn't the one with problems, they all belong to Bam. KOC was never intended to be released domestically, this was a rumor that was started by gamespot. I personally have no clue about Fire Pro for GC, but I have heard that Spike is currently developing Fire Pro Wrestling Z for the PS2 with an undetermined release date. Guest Cavi Report post Posted December 6, 2002 I saw the bit about the game using the HD a few days ago. Kind of pisses me off that Spike is doing that (well, we aren't 100% sure just yet on that, but from most reports, it uses it). Just put as much as you can on one DVD disc and call it a day. Nonetheless, I'm hyped to see how this turns out. I'm badly in need of a great wrestling game. You can only play so much of the old AKI and other Spike stuff.
