Guest Kamui Report post Posted December 1, 2002 Two Angle topics in a twenty-minute-span, wow, new record! Seriously- was watching the Smackdown Tag Title Match over again out of boredom, and the first time through I never really noticed how great Angle was at the hot tag. He's been a heel for almost all of his career so he's obviously not had much of an opprtunity to do them, but here is a guy that just runs in and KILLS Eddy and Chavo with the Belly-to-Bellys, and the fans love it, rather than the usual WWE-cliched "run in, punch, Clothesline over top rope" hot tags. In a related note, I was also watching some early '02 tapes- isn't it funny that how Angle gets better pops for his in-ring moves than HHH did, and Angle's still techinically an heel and gets "You Suck" chants when he comes out, while HHH was all-babyface? Guest godthedog Report post Posted December 2, 2002 well...keep in mind he was in the ring with eddie. it's hard to tell who's calling the moves, and i'm actually convinced that eddie calls all the moves he takes when his opponent gets the hot tag (cause EVERY SINGLE TIME the guy on the other team gets the tag, he gives eddie a back body drop). Guest creativename Report post Posted December 2, 2002 Angle's moves always get big pops. He's very over as a babyface. The fans may chant "you such" during his entrance, but he's one of the most over faces on the roster. At Survivor Series he was the one getting cheered against Rey and Edge. When Benoit and Angle were eliminated, the crowd was very pissed off. Angle and Benoit generally do get babyface reactions during their matches, though Angle moreso than Benoit. They should definitely turn him real quick, and the crowd is practically begging for it with "Let's go Angle" and "We want Angle" chants. Edit: typo Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Guest evilhomer Report post Posted December 2, 2002 Angle's goofy character make the "You Suck" chants more for fun than an actual hatred for the performer. He plays off of the chants so well, I think the crowd does it just to see the reaction it'll get.
