Don't ever buy a Gateway...

Well, last year I bought a Gateway so I can have for when I go to school. I had no problems with it for about a year. One day in September, a year after I got the damn thing, I am asked to do a Windows Update. So I do that, and my computer is restarted. Well, when it restarts, it fucks up, and my computer is broken. I can't do anything on it. It won't let me restart it, it just freezes everytime. When I tried to use the quick restore thing, I couldn't do that either.

So I called Gateway so they could help me fix it. I get some Indian guy, who can't speak English to save his life. I can barely understand him, while he is trying to fix my computer. Needless to say, he can't help me, so it doesn't work.

Now I know that Gateway has a warranty thing, so I ask if I can get a new computer since mine isn't working. Well, I can't get a new one. They only issue new computers if there is a hardware problem with the computer, not a software one. The guy kept on telling me that it is a virus that is messing my computer up. But, it was damn Windows fault for my computer not working. I was sooo pissed off. When I go home for X-Mas break, I am going to bring it to a Gateway Country store, and hope they can fix it.

What have I learned from this? Never buy a computer from any name brand computer place. I had a Compaq first, that died on me. Then the Dell I have at my house always fucks up, now Gateway is being queer. Next time I get a new computer, I am building it myself.

I own a Gateway and, other than Windows ME wigging out on me about a year ago, I would have to say that my computer's performance has been nothing short of exemplary.

BTW: my Windows ME problem was caused by some software compatibility issues, as best I could tell. Fuckin' Imesh screwed me up my OS royally...

I have a Gateway also, and it's the best damn machine I've ever owned, with the best damn support ever, for me anyhow.

If Windows is screwing it up, then it's not the computer that has a problem.

No company will give you an entire new Computer if the only thing wrong with yours is the Windows software.

I got two Gateways. Haven't had anything wrong with it that was major and what did happen Gateway fixed for free without hassle. From what I read you've had a Compaq, Dell AND a Gateway computer all screw up on you. It sounds to me that the only thing that computers have in common is you.

Yeah, but it would be nice.

Well, sure. It'd be nice if they gave me full price when I sold my university textbooks back, too, but it ain't gonna happen.
