Guest Kamui Posted December 3, 2002 Report Posted December 3, 2002 I just reviewed the tape of the last time HBK served as a referee, SummerSlam '97 (my tryout for TSM, actually), and the ending to the Bret-Taker match would have worked PERFECT here. If they had to job RVD again to HHH on Monday night, that's how they should have done it. i.e. RVD has HHH beat with the Five Star, HBK is distracted by, let's say Flair (taking the place of the Hart Foundation in the SummerSlam match) and can't make the three count, HHH goes for a chair, Shawn pulls it away, HHH spits on Shawn, Shawn goes for a chair shot, hits RVD, HHH pins and Shawn has to make the count or else he loses his title. That ending would have protected RVD, put heel heat on HHH, and put heat on the HHH-HBK match. Instead, we got to see RVD job near-cleanly to HHH, AGAIN, and also look like a moron by hitting HBK by accident twice. -Duo
Guest FeArHaVoC Posted December 3, 2002 Report Posted December 3, 2002 But then you would have bitched they did the same ending from Summerslam 97
Guest DJ Jeff Posted December 3, 2002 Report Posted December 3, 2002 Well, that would have been the better way to go about this situation. Instead, the WWE buries RVD once again, by having HHH beat him without outside interference. Now we're stuck with HBK vs. HHH at Armageddon, where HHH will win the World Title, and prove to everyone that when you bang the bosses' daughter, you'll get somewhere.
Guest Mole Posted December 3, 2002 Report Posted December 3, 2002 Yeah, don't copy storylines from the past. Even some casual fans would remember that. If anything, you could of done the same thing, except have no spitting, but Triple-Juice gets mad at Shawn for making a slow count, so he hits him. HBK then tries for Sweet Chin Music, but misses and hits RVD. HBK then has to do the three count.
Guest pappajacks Posted December 3, 2002 Report Posted December 3, 2002 Duo, that does not work. Because Shawn accidentally hit Taker, Shawn had to face Taker at the next PPV. Following your logic, Shawn will have to fave RVD at Armaggedon. The WWE wants Shawn vs HHH. If Shawn screwed RVD last night, then Shawn and RVD had to have a match against each other. That idea could have worked 2 weeks ago before their match.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted December 3, 2002 Report Posted December 3, 2002 And HHH would have to face the Patriot? I was thinking they would do the finish like the Bret/Taker match, and they sorta did w/ HBK taking the chair away from HHH and having to count against his enemy.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted December 3, 2002 Report Posted December 3, 2002 Hey, isn't it funny how they had an HBK 'special guest ref' 'animation' when they showed the RVD vs. HHH graphic?
Guest EricMM Posted December 3, 2002 Report Posted December 3, 2002 Honestly, we all know what they *SHOULD* have done, and it's called the Van Terminator 1-2-3. You'd build more heat for HBK-RVD than HHH-HBK ever had simply by having trash talk after that match when HBK gave RVD the chance to take his belt.
Guest Ravenbomb Posted December 3, 2002 Report Posted December 3, 2002 and prove to everyone that when you bang the bosses' daughter, you'll get somewhere. Hey, thanks to 3H's carreer success plan, my job at Blockbuster is a lot better. I can now hold down those other workers to restocking VHS while I'm up restocking DVD's. And I've gotten Employee of the Month twice and those were just last week, not to mention the free 'rentals'
Guest Brian Posted December 3, 2002 Report Posted December 3, 2002 They should have just done the Survivor Series 1997 finish and stripped HBK of the title.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted December 3, 2002 Report Posted December 3, 2002 Um, er.. Why do you drive on parkways but park of driveways?
Guest EricMM Posted December 3, 2002 Report Posted December 3, 2002 I'm waiting for Bischoff to call HBK for being biased against HHH, give the belt back to HHH, suspend Michaels, have RVD win some sort of tournement, and have RVD win the belt at the next PPV. That's what I think should happen in 6 days.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted December 3, 2002 Report Posted December 3, 2002 "You know boss, I think I caught Johnson putting an R rated movie in with the PG-13's... Just thought you'd like to know" "Thank you Hunt, you really DO care for this company don't you? Here's a raise." "Thanks boss, and don't forget that Smith showed up late for work last month..." "You're always on the ball, aren't you?" "Yes sir, just doing my best. I guess I just have a passion for the business"
Guest HartFan86 Posted December 3, 2002 Report Posted December 3, 2002 Leave the Summerslam 97 finish alone. Only true professionals are allowed to do that and do it correctly (Taker & Bret), not the shit we have seen on Raw. Raw doesn't deserve having good endings to matches with HHH involved.
Paul Stanley Posted December 4, 2002 Report Posted December 4, 2002 And HHH would have to face the Patriot? I was thinking they would do the finish like the Bret/Taker match, and they sorta did w/ HBK taking the chair away from HHH and having to count against his enemy. Classic. And Patriot wouldn't go over AGAIN.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted December 4, 2002 Report Posted December 4, 2002 Don't you remember Jim Cornette's rule of booking it has to be at least 7 years before you can steal a storyline idea. Know if you wanted HGH and Ric Flair to give RVD a double Bear Hug than that would be acceptable.
Guest dreamer420 Posted December 4, 2002 Report Posted December 4, 2002 But then you would have bitched they did the same ending from Summerslam 97 Damn, you beat me to it.
