in the last Wizard they presented some scenarios for ultimizing the DC books

 

 

what are your thoughts?

 

i was curious because the chain of the store i used to run has the ear of DC and got feedback from customers are really pimped it to DC during last conversation with them

Gee, and here I thought that "Just Imagine" WAS their "Ultimate" line.

 

Looking back, the main DC universe has been "ultimized" about 3 times (Silver Age, Modern Age and Zero Hour) so is there REALLY a need to do a separate one, especially since they can't keep the current one straight?

There's no need to Ultimize the DC universe. Smallville is good enough of a retelling and I don't think you can modernize Bruce Wayne any more unless he's an owner of a million dollar Computer company or something.

I'm actually really interested in all the characters Wizard described. The stories were all cool, especially the Ultimate Teen Titans, and the idea of a Wayne Enterprises vs. LexCorp business war.

The Ultimization of DC would be one of the stupidest things Paul LeVitz and the boys could *ever* do this year and are better off letting Wizard know that their fanboy ass's can go fuck off rather than play into a fad that they invented.

 

For the first time in over 2 decades the DCU seems to *finally* be in order. They do not need another fuckin universe that is "different" which DC became famous for doing. This kind of bullshit sales idea fucked them up so badly in the long run that they had to restart their company's universe two times.

 

Paul needs to leave this idea in the Wizard fanboys mail trashcan.

I just thought the idea was interesting. I don't think they should scrap their whole universe for it. Plus, they already have Elsworlds for this stuff, don't they?

That's the problem though raptor.

 

DC's Elseworld's series does *not* sell for the most part and it's only later on that many Elseworld's books pick up buys. If DC sees the possibility to make some extra cash by doing their own Ultimization of the DCU then don't be surprised to possibly see it happen.

 

I will give Levitz the benefit of the doubt though since I have followed Paul's career for many years and will say that an Ultimization of DC will not happen.

 

But in comic books, you can never say never.

and IMO i dont think they should do it but i just was interested in what others had to say
