Guest Patriotsfan2000 Posted March 6, 2002 Report Posted March 6, 2002 I think I've figured out how the WWF could have done a much better job on "The Road to Wrestlemania." If you remember, in years past the WWF has had Wrestlemania on the first Sunday in April and then done Backlash the same month, saving the remainder of February and the entire month of March to build towards Wrestlemania. This year, we have Wrestlemania on March 17th, taking away three solid weeks of RAW and Smackdown, and what seems to be a rush job on putting together matches and getting us excited. An April 7th Wrestlemania would still give them a few weeks to build towards the less important Backlash PPV. Anyone else have any opinions on this? I just think that with the whole Asia tour and everything, the WWF could really have used an extra couple weeks to build up feuds and make Wrestlemania feel special instead of just another show.
Guest converge241 Posted March 6, 2002 Report Posted March 6, 2002 Good point. With the small gap, it feels like just another ppv type of hype. I dont think anyone's mentioned the fact that it's Saint Patricks Day. A lot of the WWF audience might be out at bars or events when its on. Sure they might be watching it at said bar , but there's no buyrates in that. Maybe we'll have a lot of green-beer drinking in homes. It might be needed. Does anyone know ehat the dat for Backlash is off the top of your head?
Guest Gert Posted March 6, 2002 Report Posted March 6, 2002 I don't know the day for Backlash, but my guess is April 28th. The reason WM is in early March this year is that Easter is on the 31st, why that affects the 7th is beyond me, unless WAAAY ahead of time, WCW scheduled a slot on the April 7th slot, but I don't think the date for WM was set over a year ahead of time. I agree the 4 weeks in between didn't help, but its not like the WWF worked very hard this past Monday.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted March 6, 2002 Report Posted March 6, 2002 Half the guys needed for the angles were overseas. UT vs. Flair (flair gone...still progressed storyline) HHH vs. Jericho (Jericho gone) Regal vs. RVD (Regal gone) Austin vs. Hall (did progress storyline) Edge vs. Booker (Edge is gone) Trish vs. Jazz (did the setup) Hogan vs. Rock (Rock gone) What would you have had them do?
Guest Gert Posted March 6, 2002 Report Posted March 6, 2002 I understand that about 20 guys were in Japan, but I was talking about the 5-6 matches that aren't official.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted March 6, 2002 Report Posted March 6, 2002 Oh. Yeah that should have been taken care of by the second Raw after No Way Out.
