Guest HBK16 Posted December 4, 2002 Report Posted December 4, 2002 My favorite is probably Family Feud. I can watch that show all day. Theres also Supermarket Sweep that is quite enjoyable. The worse is Weakest Link. I cant stand that show. With that rat lady host. I have also noticed that the audience is very very still even when laughing. I'm not saying that the audience is not real but maybe the laughs are.
Guest starvenger Posted December 4, 2002 Report Posted December 4, 2002 The worse is Weakest Link. I cant stand that show. With that rat lady host. I have also noticed that the audience is very very still even when laughing. I'm not saying that the audience is not real but maybe the laughs are. I read a while back that the audience is required to sit still. Favourite is Press Your Luck (not the new version) and Greed, least favourite is the current Family Feud (with Louie Anderson)
Guest Flyboy Posted December 4, 2002 Report Posted December 4, 2002 Favorite? Family Feud w/ Richard Dawson. I really don't have a least favorite.
Guest El Satanico Posted December 4, 2002 Report Posted December 4, 2002 Favorite: The Price Is Right & Lets Make A Deal Least Favorite: I can't remember hating any that i've watched. I haven't seen any of the Networks recent primetime Game Shows, but I'm sure i would've hated them.
Guest WrestlingDeacon Posted December 4, 2002 Report Posted December 4, 2002 I am a huge game show mark. Got a game show question, ask me. Favorites: Match Game Price is Right old Family Feud (Dawson or Combs) Hot Potato old $25,000 Pyramid Sale of the Century Worst: Most of the new ones on Game Show Network, like Lingo and Friend or Foe. They're just so generic and lack any spirit or life. I also hate Wheel of Fortune. It's such a pandering show. They're have been dumb game shows, but Wheel pretends like it's sort of cerebal and high class. It did have some cheesy charm when you could buy furniture like the ceramic dog.
Guest Eagan469 Posted December 4, 2002 Report Posted December 4, 2002 Favorite: Price Is Right Press Your Luck Family Feud w/ Ray Combs Worst: Whammy! (new Press Your Luck on GSN) Family Feud w/ Richard Karn
Guest HBK16 Posted December 4, 2002 Report Posted December 4, 2002 Forgot to mention also Price is Right. I dont know why I left it back.
Guest meanmaisch Posted December 4, 2002 Report Posted December 4, 2002 Favorite: Match Game Least Favorite: Win Lose or Draw
Guest Flyboy Posted December 4, 2002 Report Posted December 4, 2002 Most of the new ones on Game Show Network, like Lingo and Friend or Foe. Wha?? I love Lingo.. that's GSN's new best show.
Guest starvenger Posted December 4, 2002 Report Posted December 4, 2002 Most of the new ones on Game Show Network, like Lingo and Friend or Foe. Wha?? I love Lingo.. that's GSN's new best show. I still remember Lingo from the late 80's when Mike Reagan (Ronnie's son) hosted it. Good concept, but I never really took to it.
Guest GeneMean Posted December 4, 2002 Report Posted December 4, 2002 Favorites: The Price is Right, Match Game (not the damn later one without Gene though), Press Your Luck, Family Feud (Dawson), Ben Stein's Money Crap: Friend or Foe, Card Sharks, Wheel of Fortune (more like torture) Ever play online with any of those gameshownetwork games? I tell you it's impossible for me not to bust out in a tirade of curses every time I hit that SDFSDFS whammy. I don't see how the contestants on PYL or Whammy! don't bust out some serious swearing.
Guest godthedog Posted December 4, 2002 Report Posted December 4, 2002 best one ever HAS to be 'press your luck'. 'the newlywed game' is a close second. worst is 'whammy'. ugh. followed closely by russian roulette and that damn show that kennedy hosts.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted December 4, 2002 Report Posted December 4, 2002 Favorite: Jeopardy, and Tic-Tac-Dough
Guest dreamer420 Posted December 4, 2002 Report Posted December 4, 2002 favs: the price is right, win ben stein's money, family feud (ray combs), who wants to be a millionaire (meredith vierra MILF) least: russian roulette, greed, pyramid
Guest red_file Posted December 4, 2002 Report Posted December 4, 2002 I enjoyed Beat The Geeks when I had bronchitis last year. Not sure if I would've enjoyed it as much if I wasn't doped up. I also enjoyed catching the sports gameshow on ESPN. I was just fascinated by how these guys knew the most obscure sports facts. I can't stand Wheel of Fortune. Reminds me of my grandmother's house. The horror, the horror...
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted December 4, 2002 Report Posted December 4, 2002 Jeopardy owns all game shows. My least favorite is easily the $25,000 Pyramid. THE ANSWERS ARE RIGHT THERE, what's the fun in watching that?
Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted December 4, 2002 Report Posted December 4, 2002 Remote F'n Control owns all. ALL~!
Guest starvenger Posted December 4, 2002 Report Posted December 4, 2002 I can't believe I forgot to mention the greatest Canadian game show ever (although that's not saying much) - TEST PATTERN. The show redefined the phrase "so bad it's good" and I'm amazed at how far a $500 budget can go...
Guest Kingpk Posted December 4, 2002 Report Posted December 4, 2002 Favorites: Price is Right, Press Your Luck, Jeopardy! (everyone keeps telling me I should go on there), Win Ben Stein's Money, 2 Minute Drill, Family Feud (Richard Karn is much better as host than Anderson), Lingo Least: Whammy! (Todd, just say "fourteen hundred" every time instead of "one thousand four hundred", you'd sound less retarded), Wheel, and most of GSN's original games
Guest Brush with Greatness Posted December 4, 2002 Report Posted December 4, 2002 Win Ben Stein's Money, Rock n' Roll Jeopardy As for Canadian shows the sports trivia show "Game On" was pretty cool. And for nostalgia purposes "Kid Street" totally owned.
Guest notJames Posted December 4, 2002 Report Posted December 4, 2002 I don't know if this was a strictly Canadian game show, but there was one called Pitfall that I loved watching as a kid. I vaguely remember seeing it only when I'd visit my cousins in Ontario during the summer. Other than that, I'd say Card Sharks is my favourite. Close seconds would be Jeopardy and Tic Tac Dough (Wink Martendale was the biz-omb!) Least favourite is everything else. Especially Wheel of Fortune. They seem to pick the stupidest contestants.
Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Posted December 4, 2002 Report Posted December 4, 2002 My favorite is Double Dare, followed closely by Family Fued (Dawson or Combs), and Jeopardy. Worst is probably the Newlywed Game (Bob is cool though), because it would be so incredibly easy to cheat. No challenge = no entertainment. I don't like Wheel of Fortune now, but when I was a kid I loved it for some reason. In fact I used to tell people Pat Sajak was my stepfather.
Guest hardyz1 Posted December 5, 2002 Report Posted December 5, 2002 Favorites: Family Feud (Dawson and Combs), original Press Your Luck, Price is Right, Match Game (hosted by Gene Rayburn only), Jeopardy (regular and Rock 'n' Roll), Blockbusters, Hot Potato, Concentration Least favorites: Newlywed Game, Three's A Crowd, To Tell the Truth, Whammy Call me crazy, but I actually like Russian Roulette and Lingo. Does anyone remember back in the early-mid 90's when USA and Family Channel would have afternoon game show blocks? I was in heaven.
Guest WrestlingDeacon Posted December 5, 2002 Report Posted December 5, 2002 I watched both of those on end. I fondly remember the more obscure ones they showed like Face the Music with Ron Ely and Jackpot.
Guest notJames Posted December 5, 2002 Report Posted December 5, 2002 ...Face the Music with Ron Ely... This one reminded me of another favourite old school game show - Name That Tune.
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted December 5, 2002 Report Posted December 5, 2002 From my Tough Enough Week Five recap... ... But seriously, can you really deny the power of The Price Is Right? It’s got BOB F’N BARKER on it, an ever-rotating stable of hotties that he gets to call Barker’s Beauties, he uses an old school microphone with the long handle, and the games RULE. Pity they got rid of Rod Roddy as the announcer. This new guy can’t quite hack it, but he comes close. Nothing will ever match Rod’s “A NEW CAR!!” or the excitement that would rush through your veins every time he described how to get tickets, thinking to yourself, “It’s that simple? I pray for the day I can be called to ‘Come on down!’ and be offered all sorts of cash and prizes in scintillating games of chance and skill!” PLINKO~! Can you tell me, with a straight face, that PLINKO~! doesn’t rule the whole motherfucking world, more than a billion Jonahs and Scotts fused together into one gigantic Sco-nah ball of flesh? Coming in a close second is Hole in One... OR TWO!!! TWO, I SAY!!!! You THINK you’ve exhausted your chances, but BOB F’N BARKER rules PLINKO~! and thus the entire universe, so he just slaps that game and it COUGHS UP another shot at being a part of game show LEGEND because he’s BOB F’N BARKER, and you WILL obey him when he says to have your pets spayed or neutered, even if you have to do it YOURSELF!! Grab Fido with one hand and an oyster knife with the other and OBEY BOB F’N BARKER. Take a stabbing guess at my favorite. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest CanadianChris Posted December 6, 2002 Report Posted December 6, 2002 I don't know if this was a strictly Canadian game show, but there was one called Pitfall that I loved watching as a kid. I vaguely remember seeing it only when I'd visit my cousins in Ontario during the summer. That show was awesome. Very inventive endgame (contestants cross a bridge made of eight elevators in 100 seconds by answering trivia correctly; three elevators are "booby-trapped" and will drop the contestant unless they have a pass that will allow them to cross safely), and Alex Trebek with the white man afro was funny as hell. Other favourites: Jeopardy! The Price Is Right Press Your Luck (the original) $ale of the Century Whew! Now You See It Blockbusters Pyramid (Dick Clark version) Tic Tac Dough Family Feud (Richard Dawson version) Scrabble Password Plus Card Sharks (Jim Perry version) Classic Concentration High Rollers Split Second Let's Make A Deal Some of the worst: Jackpot Monopoly Friend or Foe? Whammy! Newlywed Game
Guest razazteca Posted December 6, 2002 Report Posted December 6, 2002 Beat the Geek was good until they change hosts and I don't like the current shocking gross games like Fear Factor, the Chair, the Chamber, Dog Eat Dog. Classic Concentration with Alex Tribec was a good game when game shows owned the mornings and afterschool time periods.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted December 6, 2002 Report Posted December 6, 2002 No love for Street Smarts?!
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted December 6, 2002 Report Posted December 6, 2002 Price is Right, Press Your Luck, and Jeopardy before those retarded Clue Crew cameos... Family Feud with Louie Louie...
