Guest cynicalprofit Report post Posted December 4, 2002 I remember how in ECW rob didnt need the title, he was just over. Rob is still insanely over and still doesnt have the world title. Why does he need it? (I mean I want him to have it, but I dont see why he needs it when he's already so over) Could they be saving Rob as a backup incase someone got hurt and everything goes fuckakzoo? Guest FeArHaVoC Report post Posted December 4, 2002 Just for the simple fact of having something New and Fresh.
Guest Insane Bump Machine Report post Posted December 4, 2002 RVD doesn't need the World title, the World title needs RVD.....or someone else who is new, over and credible (you can make a list if you want LOL).

Well, for most of RVD's ECW career, he had the TV Title. That title made him look like one of the top contendors. Then he got injured, and when he came back, ECW folded shortly after. (if my history is correct) I think Fear said it best, someone new to have the title. Plus, when someone who is over and who can help the business, it is good to put the title on them. Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted December 4, 2002 Because WWE hasn't had a new credible main eventer in a long time. Brock's a stretch even, and was pushed only because of Vince's hard-ons for big, strong guys. HHH is slow, plodding, puts on shitty matches, isn't over, isn't a credible champion, and is proven to drive crowds away because people WALK OUT during house shows that he headlines. The only bona-fide, credible main eventer besides him is..well, Undertaker. And he's old, isn't really considered a true draw, and is broken down and soon will retire. Austin I guess would be when he comes back, but isn't at the moment so he doesn't count. So, SOME ONE needs to be pushed to the main event. Why not some one who is over, and while doesn't have the best workrate, puts on enjoyable matches and has the potential to be a great wrestler? Oh, that's right--because the WWE is run by fucking idiots dumber than tree stumps. So, Vince knows best. Hosses and HHH we'll get instead. And if HHH blows out his knee again or tears his quad again, it'll be far too late because they didn't make stars by having engaging programs with their old main eventers. Guest cynicalprofit Report post Posted December 4, 2002 OK, but he doesnt need the title to draw. He already does this. Yes he does need to be a new face, but couldnt they do that with Edge (but not right now, hes not ready yet), Rey, Tazz, Raven, I mean they could theoretically try to get anyone over. If they bothered to try.
Guest FeArHaVoC Report post Posted December 4, 2002 Just for the simple fact of having something New and Fresh. I'm sticking to that. Yes, RVD is over. Yes, RVD is already a Draw. But, RVD could become a even bigger Draw as Champion. He's already over, so there is no "building him up" that needs to be done. They can write 'New' Storylines and go in a new direction. We wouldn't have to see the same old tiring guys with the Belt. Instead of seeing Triple H against RVd, Jericho, Booker T, HBK, Kane, etc, We could see RVD put on more Exciting and 'New' Matches with these guys. Even guys like Christian & Storm being jobbed out to RVD would be more exciting then watching Triple H squash and No Sell them. Plus, there would be something Special with seeing RVD win the belt. Much like Jericho last year, it's Exciting and Special when a Guy you watched for Years finally becomes Champion. We didn't get that with Brock Lesnar. It was fun to see someone new, but we still didn't know much about him and it took something away from his win. I can look past RVD's weakness in his matches, as long as he is able to Entertain me. Which is what Raw is missing right now, Entertainment.

Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted December 4, 2002 The short answer is that the biggest fan favorite shouldn't lose every time.
Guest Nevermortal Report post Posted December 4, 2002 Right, bps. If they aren't serious about giving RVD the title, then stop making him job in all these title matches.
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted December 4, 2002 Because there has to be someone for the "smarks" to get behind and blame HHH for everything in their career.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted December 4, 2002 We already have Jericho for that.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted December 4, 2002 I actually adressed this in my TNA preview (link at top of board) when I recapped my week. ... Everyone read!!!!!!!! Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted December 4, 2002 Kind of makes you wonder if they got rid of the IC title just to spite guys like RVD. I mean the IC title as a great way to get guys over as new stars and do SOMETHING with them. Now you have to have about 10 potential guys wanting 1 single belt. It kind of hurts everyone, but it especially hurts guys like RVD who are plenty over and easily ready for the title.

Guest The Hamburglar Report post Posted December 4, 2002 We already have Jericho for that. Nah, Jericho's hissy fit after KOTR and the general crappiness of his work over the last year, as well as the fact that HHH wasn't even hooolding him down subtly anymore has killed Jericho's appeal as an Internet martyr. RVD is now much more suitable, he's over, and HHH has held him down in a more cunning fashion. Only certain maniacs use Angle as a cause celebre, as most others sort of recognise that Angle got one of the biggest rookie pushes ever. Benoit also doesn't pass because he's not "cool" enough and also because, despite the bitching, its pretty widely accepted that he's used quite well. Booker has all of RVD's flaws, but doesn't have the interesting-to-some floppy offense or the few good matches in the last 18 months that RVD has. Hence, RVD is the martyr du jour. Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted December 4, 2002 It's not that RVD needs the belt...but he's so over he deserves it. Plus like it's been said, they need some new blood on the big gold belt. It sucks knowing it's just a matter of time till HHH gets it back.
Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted December 5, 2002 RVD came to the WWE with a rather Unique Mystique to him. That technically Speaking few people ever really beat him, and even Fewer were at his Speed and technical level. Two people stick out who seem to go toe to toe with RVD. One never wants to work for the WWE Sabu Whom is Burned out from all the Highspots And the other the WWE Just never liked since they hired him twice and fired him twice Jerry Lynn RVD comes to the WWE with this wildly unpredictable potato style which bothers the more Plodding move and punch punch punch punch look to the crowd Spit water then another move. If you put RVD with the Title you'd have to find someone credible enough to stand toe to toe with him in the WWE. I can think Jericho would fit the bill, so would Benoit. But it would really force people like everyones favorite Booking Nazi HHH to actually dig up his old 2000 Material and actually WRESTLE! and he is too tired you know boffing Stephanie the way she likes it so he can stay in power... You may as well call HHH MEAT and Steph Terri... theres some Trivia for ya. notice how it always goes back to HHH? To end this... RVD would make a Killer World champ, and would Logically open the doors to those wrestlers who we know should be getting the shots... But this is WWE... Logic doesn't apply.
