LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2002 I went to Best Buy and saw a few MST3K DVD's of episodes I've never seen. I wanted to see what ya'll thought of these episodes. The Brain that would not die (I think that's the name of it) Hellcats The Beginning of the End The Crawling Hand They were $17 each.
Guest Ravenbomb Report post Posted December 5, 2002 I've got the first and third one. The Brain that Wouldn't Die (The movie it's self, not the episode) is SOOOO bad, I cannot watch that episode without falling asleep. Beggining of the End is great. LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2002 Well I'm steering clear of Hellcats. I just read on a MST3K site that it's one of the worst episodes. I'll probably go with Beginning of the End or The Crawling Hand. I probably shouldn't buy more than one off this paycheck.
Guest MDH257 Report post Posted December 5, 2002 I thought Hellcats was pretty funny. I think that's probably because it was one of the first episodes I ever saw. The guy who runs that site has a theory: For every fan who thinks a certain episode is the shows lowest moment, there's another who thinks it's their finest hour. LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2002 I read somewhere even the makers of the show didn't like the Hellcats episode. They said most of the writers were out of town when they wrote that episode. I'll have to watch it myself since I'm easily entertained.
Guest MDH257 Report post Posted December 5, 2002 They were out of town when the host segments were written. Because of this all of the host segments ended up being flashbacks to previous shows. Even though they only had to film about a minute of material to introduce each clip, that minute ended up taking as long to film as the host segments usually do. So the brains were upset because in the end the entire point to not writng host segments that week was lost. Hellcats is very bizzare. A guy goes undercover in a biker gang to avenge his brother's death. There are a whole lot of unitellegable songs that the guys make fun of and a few extended scenes of partying that go nowhere. I guess you need to see it to see what I thought was funny. I'm not saying that's the one episode you should get, I'm just saying I don't think it's a bad episode. Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted December 5, 2002 If I can find Manos on DVD I'm snagging it on the fucking spot. ... I might get the MST3K version too. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest MDH257 Report post Posted December 5, 2002 Manos isn't available on video or DVD in anything but the MST3K version.
Guest Kagato Otaku Report post Posted December 5, 2002 Not quite. You can buy the unedited, unMSTed version of Manos on VHS and possibly DVD-R soon at Sinister Cinema. God have mercy on your soul Kotz, you poor deluded fool.
Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted December 5, 2002 I liked Manos, dammit. Something about the movie just tickles me. It actually keeps me up at night sometimes, scared as hell. I find the MSTing of it to be an absolute riot and their funniest episode, but the movie itself I absolutely adore for some reason. And MDH, I know it's only on DVD with MST3K right now, I was just saying. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest WrestlingDeacon Report post Posted December 5, 2002 You can also get the Manos MST3K version on DVD here atCreepy Classics They also have tons of old bad horror movies.

What, you afraid Torgo's knees are after you while strange women in weird robes wave their hands in your face? I'd go for the boxed set myself, even though I haven't found it anywhere. Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted December 5, 2002 No, dammit! Think about it! The Master who has some sort of vague yet tremendous power, Torgo's creepy theme, Mike being made into the servant at the end, the isolated nature of all the action, the driving scenes to emphasize that these perfectly well-adjusted and normal people are about to enter a new sinister world, and how the cycle repeats with the two women in the ending. I just really liked it, okay??? Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest Ravenbomb Report post Posted December 5, 2002 wait until they have Mitchell to get Brain that Wouldn't Die, as I think those are the only two episodes that were released that come one after the other in the series, the last one with Joel and the first one with Mike
Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted December 5, 2002 I saw Warrior of the Lost World at a video store in Morehead City, North Carolina once. I almost got it, as MEGAWEAPON~! rules the world, and it's another movie I wouldn't mind watching normally, but not on the Manos level. Oh, and did anyone find out about IMDB's listing of a "first season" boxed set, or was that just confusion over the recent DVD 4 pack? I'd love for more episodes to get released officially. Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Report post Posted December 5, 2002 you know, on the MST3K dvds, they have the option to watch the movie normally... so you don't really need to get them seperately

It was cofusion over the box set they just released. Rhino is releasing two more box sets by next summer, but there just episodes that they already released on video. Not all of the DVD's have the uncut movie. The recent one's do, but Manos and Mitchell don't.
Guest Ravenbomb Report post Posted December 6, 2002 Manos has Poopie! instead of Manos uncut, and Mitchell has the trailer to Mitchell (score!) I don't believe that 'I accuse my parents!' does either
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted December 20, 2002 Whooo Hooooo I just bought Manos on DVD today. Finally I got to see it and I love it.
Guest RepoMan Report post Posted December 23, 2002 I'd recommend avoiding the Crawling Hand. It's a very early episode and they hadn't really honed there craft yet.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted December 27, 2002 I saw some more the other day: Mitchell The Wild World of Batwoman I know Mitchell is good and I'll probably buy it next, but is Batwoman any good?
