Dajuan Wagner

I mean he just came off the injury list and he's lighting it up already, not bad for a guy who only played one year of college ball. I have seen highlights of him I haven't seen him play yet but they say he's Iverson with muscles.

You striked a question in my head.

What is better, A high school player outright skipping College for the pros or Going to a school with the sole intention of staying One season and bolting to the Pros? In my mind, it's the latter, It is just insulting to the program and the fans of Collegiate basketball.

However, That aside, Dajuan Wagner is a stud. A intelligent yet AIish player who has a big look and marketablity. However, Stuck in Cleveland won't do that much good but I'm sure sooner or later, DaJuan will find his way to a big city like NY, LAC, Miami or Seattle and be a huge draw and NBA superstar.

Oh, I should add...LeBron James...Motherfucking Jesus. See him in Action one and you'll be wowed...He might be better today then some 3 year NBA players.

Wagner will do his three year sentence in Bolivian then he will be a free agent and be set wherever he wants.

I also think it is a disgrace to treat college like a one year training program for the NBA. There are kids who want those slots or need those slots to help pay for an education they actually want and do you really learn that much in one year of college.

Nothing will be learned in Frosh year since it is all introduction and you pretty much party...

He didn't go for education, he already went to a damn good privite school anyways...He went for his father's wishes and To get his Boy a place to ball (One of his conditions).

I meant do you really learn that much on the court in one year. I know it was a farce him going there in the first place.

The only thing you really learn in a year is how to travel...Instead of staying in your home state like in High School...That is about it...DaJaun is likely the same player he was leaving High School as he was leaving College...

The only person I've seen in the years, I've Had NO problems leaving college after 1 season was Caron Butler, who NEEDed to go pro to raise his two sons and wife and already had his rude awakenings in life.

Yao Ming for Rookie of the Year! Has a FG% in the 70s that is not just dunks and can get double doubles against good teams.

As a Bulls fan, let me remind you that putting up 27 on Jalen Rose is not the hardest thing in the world.

Drew Gooden should be mentioned has well.

To answer Chosen One's question. I'd rather see players go directly from H.S. It doesn't help a college program if players are only there for one year.

Coran Butler stayed two years, I believe, and even as a devout UConn fan I have no problem with him leaving. As much as I would of loved to see him stay and have a very good chance to win a national title, his situation was not the "Prep star with parents who have gaga money" like some of the others.

LeBron James is sure lighting it up against a bunch of high schoolers. I'm sure he's going to be very good, but when I hear GM's would only not trade 5 certain NBA players for him, you gotta wonder how much of it is hype. Hopefully it's not, and he's a supahstar.

This is one of the best rookie classes in a while.

The LeBron James hype has gotten to him possibly going to the 2004 Olympics for Team USA. That they're actually talking about this and his games on PPV is just mind blowing.

And I'm for Yao Ming for ROY. 27 Pts. 18 Reb. 3 Blk. against Tim Duncan and David Robinson. Just some consistency and he'll have that award wrapped up in a few months.

But, yeah, this Draft Class looks to be a winner.

I think Drew Gooden has to be mentioned also, especially since he'll get more and more PT throughout the year.

I'm surprised how little Ginobili has produced so far... he's behind Stephen Jackson at guard... that's sad.

Yao Ming has to be WAY more consistent to get ROY. 2 games does not a great player make.

As a Memphis Tiger fan all I have to say is fuck Dajuan Wager

How can you blame a player for grasping the chance at financial security for the rest of life? Isn't that the whole point of going to college? Seriously, it's stupid to blame a kid for going to the pros early.

if you ask me, LeBron James should have left last year. Can you imagine the fucking freak show that is this kid's life right now? As good as he is, I wouldn't be suprised if he goes all Leon Smith on us once he gets drafted.

He promised the Tigers two years.

He stayed for one.

He wasn't even that great anyway- he didn't get us into the NCAA tournament either

ROY is Yao Ming right now, IMO, although he could easily start playing badly again like he started..

To me, it's no contest Yao is the lead candidate for ROY.

I’ve watched Yao all season with the Rockets and stats really don’t tell the true story on the impact that he's had on the team. His defense and rebounding have improved a lot, making it very difficult for the opposing team to get any points inside. Before he came to the team, the Rockets offense was atrocious. No team basketball whatsoever, just Francis and Mobley dribbling the ball for 20 seconds and taking wild shots. With Yao on the floor, as the focal point of the offense, he’s got the Rockets playing as a cohesive unit for the first time in years. Not only is he a great player, he makes the players around him better.

Another point I’d like to make is that Yao is pretty much the only rookie this season on a winning team. He has single-handedly lead Houston to wins over Los Angeles, Washington, San Antonio, Seattle, and almost carried the Rockets to a win over Dallas. He may not be averaging 20pts. on 37% shooting like Wagner, but put Yao on one these lottery teams and he would be getting 20pts. on +60% shooting. Gooden and Wagner have pretty stats but what have those stats led to, a combined 4-34 record, the 2 worst records in the league. And it’s not like these guys don’t have any talent around them. Gooden has Gasol, Swift, Battier, and J. Williams. Wagner has Illgauskas, Ricky Davis, and Darius Miles. It’s not that difficult to get inflated stats on a bad team, ask Damon Stoudamire or Joe Smith.

Amare Stoudemare of Phoenix has been having a pretty good rookie season too. He leads all rookies in rebounding. Not too shabby for a guy who came out of High School.

Living in Cleveland, most of us wish the Cavs would just go 5-77 (which doesn't seem all that unrealistic) so they can have lottery balls a-plenty. LeBron James even got Coach John Lucas suspended for the 1st two games this year for participating in some Cav workouts.

When asked about LeBron on radio shows, Coach Lucas replies with, "Who? What? Uhhh, I'm sorry, our signal must be breaking up."

As for DeJuan Wagner, who Lucas refers to as Juanny, he may have a legit shot at ROY. Most know about his scoring ability, but he's awfully mature for a 20-year old. This past Wednesday, The Cavs (w/ a 15-game losing streak) were playing The Bulls. Wagner forced a turnover and on the break. He was fouled as he was going for a layup. As the ball was lingering on the rim, teammate Ricky Davis ran up and FOOLISHLY jammed it in! Ughhh!!! Most of us would be pretty pissed, if only for a second or two. Not Wagner, he immediately grinned and put an arm around Davis as to say "Don't worry about it." How old is he again?

Finally, offtopic, Lucas not only refers to Wagner as Juanny, but he calls Chris Mihm "MihmS" and Carlos Boozer gets the "Booze" treatment from Lucas. It's pretty amusing to hear Lucas conducting a serious interview while hoarse and saying comments like,

"We gotta get Mihms back to help take the pressure off Juanny. I have been pleased though with the progress of Z and Booze."
