New Creative Staffer Working With Paul Heyman On Smackdown

Paul Heyman, as head booker for WWE Smackdown has recently stopped producing backstage vignettes and promos.

Heyman has delegated that responsibility to Dave Laguna, a new young member of the creative staff.

In addition to Laguna, who is now viewed as Heyman's right hand man, Stephanie McMahon has been performing some of those producing duties.

Damn, We can't blame everything on Steph now!

"Right hand man." Hmm...does this mean he's a wrestling fan thus they have similar mindsets?

The quality of Smackdown has gone down the last few weeks. The Smackdown 6 matches have been done so many times they don't mean has much, Big Show is the title, and Albert and Rakishi are getting another undeserved push.

Riksihi isn't really getting a push, I mean he never wrestles on PPV or anything.

He's on Smackdown going over more talented people everyweek.

John Cena is debateable but except for going over Mattitude he hasn't really done much.

And he is over so I have problem with him getting a push

But he's over, always gets a reaction and his matches generally have heat.

So why not put him on SD!?

Hey guys. You could give anyone that gimmick, you could give my cat that gimmick, even. And they'd be over.

I thought though that they had officially traded him and Perry Saturn to WWA in exchange for Steiner, though?

EDIT: I guess I'm mixing up Godfater and Rikishi, or accidentally replied in the wrong thread.... But either way, it's not suprising, as guys I can't stand all sort to become a blur after a while.

Rakishi

Pet peeve of mine, nothing against you. But for fuck's sake, there is no "a" in "Rikishi" It just bugs me when people spell it like that.

Think they need to find the Hawaiian Shirt ECW Hat guy to do the booking. Probably do just as good as everyone else.

Iwonder if this guy came up with "Hey, let's job Angle to Big Show!"

I like Cena. He's funny, not a bad wrestler really, and has a good look.

But if they keep jobbing him to Rikishi he won't be worth much.

People pop for Rikishi cause he's a comedy character.......that's all. He has no real redeeming value other than a quick "pick me up" for a dead crowd.

Rikishi is always getting a perpetual push that never leads anywhere.

My problem with him is that all the young guys with potential keep getting fed to him.

He's like the Bubba Ray of SD!--he's uber-protected when, in actuality, he doesn't need it at all because he has a comedy gimmick. He'll be over regardless of whether he goes over in his feuds or not.

Does Rikishi get "Real" pushes though? With a lot of the other useless bastards on the roster, the push is an attempt to bring them up in the card. I mean, Albert lost to Funaki on Velocity not too long ago, and now he's fueding with upper-mid carder and bigtime babyface Edge? Now that's a useless push.

Rikishi though, is generally in extremely short term fueds where he isn't pushed to the moon. Like the esteemed LaParkaYourCar said above, he's just used to perk up a dead crowd, and I think he does pretty decent in that role. I mean, that dumb little segment they had tonight was somewhat entertaining, mostly because Cena and especially Bull are very amusing as Poser White Boys. So Rikishi and Tazz get to dance, crowd is happy, it's a nice little segment. It didn't exactly hurt Cena and Bull at all, and no one else was involved, so no one gets hurt.

I can see what you're saying though, creativename...he really should put people over. Hopefully Cena does go over him at some point.

Cena will probably beat Rikishi someday, only after gratutious amounts of B-squared interference. Because you know, Rikishi's heat is dependent on whether he wins a lot or not.

10 points to whoever mentioned the ECW Hawaiian Shirt Hat guy, he's been hung over since the reagan administration

Hey, if this guy put together the promos for last night putting over the World Title shot than hoo rah.

Rikishi has the role of midcard face who pops the crowd and doesn't actually accomplishes anything. No one has ever gotten a "I got beat by Rikishi" stink ever in history so I don't think it will happen to Cena either, why would it? And with no other midcard faces on SmackDown, Rikishi gets to be on TV pretty often to play foil to younger heels. Who else is going to do it?

Tey've got to let Benoit cut those serious, sports-like promos. Those are great, perfect for him and his character.

They are overdoing it with Cena's character. Freestyling in a promo now and then was one thing. Turning him into Vanilla Cena is the kiss of death. Yes, he may get over, but in a SCOTTY 2 HOTTY im over prelim guy kind of way.

Cena could be more with a little seasoning.

He probably jokingly said it, and Steph thought it was a great idea.
