Sorry i just can't pick him over Alfred

Honestly I couldn't either. Stalag 17 is my favorite movie of all time, and Double Indemnity is in my Top 10, but Hitchcock made more good movies than Wilder.

has anybody been put up against as many great directors in this tournament as Scorsese? It always seems like he's up against someone I'd vote for if they'd been up against anybody else (mostly). Kurosawa (who I'd put at 2nd best ever), Coppola, and it looks like Orson Welles next round, and if he wins that, it'll probably be Hitchcock last round.

Go, Martin!

Alfred Hitchcock vs Billy Wilder

STEVEN SPIELBERG vs Howard Hawks - There is NO WAY IN HELL, that all these people really think Hawks is THAT great. It has to be this ungodly Spielberg hate that inexplicably permeates this board like some vicious disease.

Francis Ford Coppola vs Martin Scorsece

Orson Welles vs John Huston

Well Hawks IS that great. Need proof? Ok, these names mean anything to ya'?

Scarface (1932)

Twentieth Century (1934)<--- So unrecognized it's criminal

Bringing Up Baby (1938)

His Girl Friday (1940)

Sergeant York (1941)

To Have and Have Not (1944)

The Big Sleep (1946)

Red River (1948)

Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953)

Rio Bravo (1959)

That, my friends, is range. The only movies I will hear arguement of, that Speilberg has made of this caliber are "Schindler's List" "Raiders of the lost Ark" and maybe MAYBE "Saving Private Ryan" or "Jaws". A possible four to Hawks' ten. Two of which are World War II related stories.

And Speilberg doesn't even crack the top 40 directors of all time. His survival to this point should be sufficient enough for Speilberg lovers. The top eight? Come on, like that's something to be disappointed about.

yeah it's only a matter of time before people stop voting based on his reputation and start voting for directors who made movies they actually enjoyed. Either Hitchcock or Scorsese's winning this thing.

Spielberg and Hawkes are tied. It's the only match that's undecided.
