Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted December 6, 2002 Why does the media give coaches a free pass when they bail out on a school. Dennis Franchione is doing it to Alabama, and he's already done the same thing to TCU, and New Mexico. Guess who Alabama will hire? another head coach who will bail on their team. It isn't has bad in CFB has it is in CBB. These coaches lie to the kids. Do you think Francione told recruits their was a chance he'd leave Alabma...hell no. Guest phoenixrising Report post Posted December 6, 2002 Franchione managed to convince his players to stay in school despite the heavy sanctions...and then bolts first chance he gets. That's gotta suck big time. I remember a lot of talk from Bama fans about what a great coach Franchione was and they seemed proud to have him as their coach...and then he turns around and spits at them. That just sucks. He's replacing R.C. Slocum, who had one bad year and got removed as coach (he still has a job at A&M as an assistant to the AD). Gotta wonder who's next. Could be Bob Toledo if he loses Saturday...I'm getting tired of UCLA going down the drain only to save their coach by winning just enough (this applies to both football and basketball programs). Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted December 7, 2002 Good to see both Kornheiser, and Wilbon were critical of Franchione. Wilbon was talking about the double standard when it comes to players and coaches.
