Guest treble charged Report post Posted December 6, 2002 Ok, in the wake of Glavine signing with the Mets, CNNSI.com decided to have a poll, asking who the best team in the NL East is now. The choices: -Atlanta Braves -Florida Marlins -New York Mets -Philadelphia Phillies . . . They left off the team that finished second place last year! They put on the team that finished 3rd, they put on the team that finished 4th, and they put on the team that finished LAST, but they didn't put on the team that finished 2nd. I find this VERY maddening, even though the Phillies have definitely improved, and the Mets, at least on paper, have, too. What have the Marlins done that makes them better than last year's Expos team? Why does a team that was almost killed, and then, when they couldn't finish the job, were basically left for dead, yet persevered and improved to finish over .500 and finish ahead of a high spending team like the Mets, one of 2001's surprise teams, the Phillies, and everyone's favourite up and coming team year in and year out, the Marlins. I realize that I may be the only one on the board who cares about the Expos, but this is just ignorance on CNNSI's part. A team that did what the Expos did last year under those circumstances deserves a little respect.
