Guest Zack Malibu Posted December 6, 2002 Report Posted December 6, 2002 Some backstage in WWE are criticizing the agents for being out of touch with today's wrestling, specifically Jack Lanza and Tony Garea. Terry Taylor, a younger agent, is currently cycling between Raw and Smackdown. Taylor is viewed as 'breath of fresh air', as are Johnny Ace and Fit Finlay who work with Smackdown and woman's wrestlers respectively. Kurt Angle has been pushing Jim Ross and other WWE officials to hire more smaller, agile workers that he and the other Smackdown wrestlers can work great matches with. This comes off of news that Ross pushed for the signing of Nathan Jones, who is a larger menacing type wrestler rather than a smaller technical guy. credit: Pro Wrestling Torch Newsletter Good for Kurt for speaking his mind on the matter. He is favored by Vince, since he's the best home-grown talent they have going for them, so maybe he'll get his wish. If Crips can get his friends World Title reigns, surely Angle can talk them into hiring better workers. James "Guido" Maritato is a start, but he's going back to comedy hell with the "Nunzio" gimmick surely. It's pretty sad the the road agents have better talent than most of the RAW roster. Hopefully they're still interested in Ultimo Dragon, because he could be just as marketable as Mysterio, and put on as good of a match. If they gave Noble, Guido/Nunzio, Kidman, Tajiri decent pushes, as well as bringing in Ultimo Dragon, Spanky (not for main event/upper midcard but probably a decent midcard role at first) and guys like American Dragon, then Smackdown could be a BLOW AWAY show every week. Sadly, in the long run, they'll probably just push Albert again. Oh, wait a sec...
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted December 6, 2002 Report Posted December 6, 2002 Wait, he's a world-class worker, a great guy, a real-life Olympic champion, AND he knows the business? Kurt's decision to start wrestling for the WWE is proof that there is indeed a higher power of some kind.
Guest Human Fly Posted December 6, 2002 Report Posted December 6, 2002 Who could they bring in to work with Angle though? They could bring in guys like American Dragon etc., but do you think they would bring in so many Crusierweights? Who is out there the size of Eddie, Benoit, and Angle that they haven't signed, and are available who could work with them?

He's American, has a good look, and he can wrestle. And he'd much rather work in the WWE, if only to get away from All-Japan who have jobbed him to everyone.
Guest goodhelmet Posted December 6, 2002 Report Posted December 6, 2002 the problem with kea is he is really flabby. i don't mind watching him work (sometimes) but the guy does not have enough cut to make the cut.
Guest razazteca Posted December 6, 2002 Report Posted December 6, 2002 Bring in SHOCKER, Black Tiger, Dr Wagner, Kael Sanderson, UFC or Pride workers. Shocker is 1000% Guapo damn it, he can bump, can cut a decent promo other than just cruising in a car and is more than just flying around like an acrobat which lucha-haters dislike. What is there not to like about Dr Wagner and Black Tiger? They are middle weights, RUDOs who would drop bums on their heads or win matches with the Kick of Doom, they can work tag team matches or go solo. TAZZ stole Dr Wagner's intense taunt, all Taz did was replace a torn towel for the mask.

I think he can get in shape. Send him to OVW for a month. He knows the weight of a WWE contract, what that means, he'll work out.

No one likes the style when it's in an American wrestling ring. The audience is different. The one UFC worker who got over did so because he was trained how to wrestle by Bret Hart. If you use them in a worked fight, they're boring. If it's a shootfight, you risk hurting your workers heat when they lose in 6 seconds. Middle-weights should be used to enhace the heavys. It's a sad fact of life. Get some heavys who can work. THAT's the key.
Guest Brian Posted December 6, 2002 Report Posted December 6, 2002 I wouldn't mind bringing in a guy like Shamrock who has experience in worked shoot environment and can give Angle or Lesnar some more dpeth there; or a Josh Barnett who's expressed alot of interest in going into the pro wrestling circuit. Other than that, no. On the indy circuit, they should have already picked up Daniels by now.
Guest The Hamburglar Posted December 6, 2002 Report Posted December 6, 2002 Daniels, American Dragon and Doug Williams. All great workers, and I've no doubt that they could be great entertainers with experience and proper handling.

All great workers, and I've no doubt that they could be great entertainers with experience and proper handling. Does anyone else think that American Dragon needs to be put under a hood, or facepaint? He currently looks like the geek from Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Once again, it's a waste of time if you don't get a heavyweight who can wrestle. Even Chris benoit knows that Light-Heavyweights will never draw in the US which is why he bulked up.
Guest Anglesault Posted December 6, 2002 Report Posted December 6, 2002 The evil WWF booking team has taken Angle's request for better workers and have given him a Job to the Big Show on the Bossman PPV. And to top it off, you KNOW they will enter him into a low profile pointless midcard feud with one of these guys as soon as they bring him in to warn him never to ask for good workers again

Guest Human Fly Posted December 6, 2002 Report Posted December 6, 2002 If recent booking trends are any indication they'll let Mark Henry be the one who "hurts" Angle's knee. That will show him.
Guest Ravenbomb Posted December 6, 2002 Report Posted December 6, 2002 enough cut to make the cut. Um, excuse me, but BRADSHAW, or maybe BIG SHOW..bah, I'll save time and just say HOSS. I thought American Dragon wore a mask before I saw him, mostly because I heard 'Dragon' and thought of the Japanese guys with Dragon in their names, and they all wore masks. I dunno, but I agree that he needs a mask.
Guest Cataclysm911 Posted December 7, 2002 Report Posted December 7, 2002 Well, had the WWE not released him, Jerry Lynn could've had great matches with Kurt Angle.
Guest TheyCallMeMark Posted December 7, 2002 Report Posted December 7, 2002 Zack, I'll go out on a limb and say Ultimo won't sign a contract with the WWE. With the whole Toryumon thing and all.

Guest razazteca Posted December 7, 2002 Report Posted December 7, 2002 Ultimo Dragon does not need WWE, Vince needs Ultimo Dragon. As for American Dragon getting a mask or face paint, well it all depends on the gimmick, his youthful looks are not as bad as say Rey Misterio Jr. Middle-weights should be used to enhace the heavys. It's a sad fact of life. Get some heavys who can work. THAT's the key. well I consider Benoit, Eddy, Angle, Edge as Middleweights. They could work some good matches with some middleweight luchadores. Hombre Sin Nobre could be a heavyweight contender as he is starting to get that gut Rayo has.
Guest Banky Posted December 7, 2002 Report Posted December 7, 2002 They have John Cena - and they don't use him. So why sign mid-size wrestlers? They'll only get wasted away.
Guest DragonflyKid Posted December 7, 2002 Report Posted December 7, 2002 Joey "God fears Venom" Abs was great. He had the look, ability and mic skills of a Main-eventer. Why they releashed him I don't know but he moved around well for a guy his size and would be a welcome heel on Smackdown or Raw. Steve Bradely also was good in the ring and on the mic, he had good size to be a credible heavyweight but was also very athletic. Both guys were also polished having been in the WWE system for a while.
Guest El Satanico Posted December 7, 2002 Report Posted December 7, 2002 Didn't Ultimo Dragon retire from in ring because of a injury shortly after he was gone from WCW.
Guest HartFan86 Posted December 7, 2002 Report Posted December 7, 2002 They have John Cena - and they don't use him. So why sign mid-size wrestlers? They'll only get wasted away. THANK YOU. Finally someone other than me has said that the WWE fucked over John Cena.....he was really becoming something in the summer of 2002 (especially the win over Jericho and the matches with Angle) and I thought he was gunna take off around the time he, Rey, and Edge were built as the "Future of SD", but of course that lasted 2 days. Turning him heel was stupid...but he does play heel better. I just regret the fact Cena could of made it big as a face right off the bat.
Guest El Satanico Posted December 7, 2002 Report Posted December 7, 2002 Cena will be fine in the future. It may take awhile, but Cena eventually will be pushed more.

Right around then, Cena proved himself to be worse than useless when not facing someone named Angle or Jericho. And then there was the Lesnar match.
Guest Mulatto Heat Posted December 7, 2002 Report Posted December 7, 2002 Don't forget that Cena's face act SUCKED 862 FORMS OF ASS too.
Guest HartFan86 Posted December 7, 2002 Report Posted December 7, 2002 That's true AS....but he still was green and the Angle/Jericho matches really overshadowed the bad stuff, IMO. I see why they stopped the push, but I think they could of milked it out a little more. It was like he pins Chris Jericho on PPV and drops off the face of the earth the next day.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted December 7, 2002 Report Posted December 7, 2002 Chris Jericho and Booker T. should go to Smackdown. Than I'd have no reason to watch Raw.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted December 7, 2002 Report Posted December 7, 2002 I think Kurt's got an idea. Sure, Vince likes hosses, but there's so many hosses promoted to the full roster, it wouldn't help to go find athletic smaller guys and fill up OVW with them. The NWA (and I'm not just talking TNA here, but some of the regionals too) have quite a few undiscovered talents, but they don't have all the tools, so you might as well take a shopping cart through the indies, pick up the most impressive guys, stick them in OVW and see who winds up being able to cut a good promo and who can't cut it, then slowly call people up and postion them appropriatly. Of course, I'm 70% talking out of my ass, because this is what I'm doing right now in my new EWR fed simulator savegame. I currently have Brock as champion, but give me a bit. My goal is to eventually have Chris Jericho and Matt Hardy feuding over the world title and the crowd EATING IT UP.
Conspiracy_Victim Posted December 7, 2002 Report Posted December 7, 2002 Well if they want big guys who could work, was Waterman that much of a stiff? I thought Big Poppa Pump Jr. was like 260. I know he was a bit older than what they like, but shoot they had DDP and Undertaker feuding, not exactly youth vs. youth. Plus isn't Shelton Benjamin about 240-250? From the couple matches I've seen of his on Heat he seems to be somewhat green still but can work and bump pretty well. And yes, I hate Cena jobbing to The Ass That Walks Like A Man just to give Bull friggin' Buchanan yet ANOTHER shot at getting over.
