Guest raptor Posted December 7, 2002 Report Posted December 7, 2002 Reports are suggesting rapper turned actor Eminem (8 MILE) is the frontrunner for the role of the young Bruce Wayne/Batman in the long-awaited BATMAN : YEAR ONE. Eminem joins a long-list of mooted names for that film, including Christian Bale. from Zentertainment.com I think I'll go shoot myself now.
Guest starvenger Posted December 7, 2002 Report Posted December 7, 2002 I'm taking a heavy dose of salt right now. I'm not surprised that this popped up though. Given the success of 8 Mile it was almost inevitable that they'd start throwing Eminem's name into the casting rumour mill.
Guest Sassquatch Posted December 7, 2002 Report Posted December 7, 2002 I gave up on this shown when Birds of Prey was given the greenlight over it. This is just adding more crap to the pile.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Posted December 7, 2002 Report Posted December 7, 2002 Speaking of Birds of Prey, how was the episode with Batman?
Guest Sassquatch Posted December 7, 2002 Report Posted December 7, 2002 I did not watch it. I did see the Shiva episode and it was nothing to write home about.
Guest HellSpawn Posted December 7, 2002 Report Posted December 7, 2002 Please, tell me its just a late april's fool joke! I mean, we are talkin 'bout BATMAN, this guy is one of the top 5, maybe Top 3 heroes... and people actually want this guy (I dont even want to type his name) to perform him?!?!? With all respect for you guys on USA (at least the people who suggested, not you raptor, you are just the messenger), its something on the water ? Oh man...
Guest raptor Posted December 7, 2002 Report Posted December 7, 2002 We americans due tend to make some cracked out decisions, don't we? I don't know if it's true, but the fact that they suggested it makes me believe that no matter what, it's gonna' be crap. Christian Bale would be awesome though, imo
Guest Sassquatch Posted December 7, 2002 Report Posted December 7, 2002 You need to know this HellSpawn: Hollywood is filled with more idiots than a Marvel meeting room and about half the time all they put out is crap.
Guest Ozymandias Posted December 7, 2002 Report Posted December 7, 2002 Don't panic. This is Warner Bros. They are incapable of getting a superhero movie of the ground. Even if Em is interested (he probably is) the project will be delayed until he gives up. Hell, Warners once wanted Keanu Reeves to play Terry in a live-action Batman Beyond movie, but that nightmare never happened either.

I'd hope you'd shoot yourself over something with at least a slight bit of truth to it instead of this. Eminem as Batman? Yeah, that's gonna happen. Check the source, that "rumor" came from The Daily Star. The Daily Star really sets the bar for entertainment news reliability. Plus Zentertainment is the same place that said Robert DeNiro is going to play Doc Ock. Ahem. Ok. Those morons just need to put Christian Bale in there and make the son of a bitch. But by time they make the movie he'll be old enough to make Dark Knight Returns.
Guest Lethargic Posted December 7, 2002 Report Posted December 7, 2002 Speaking of Birds of Prey, how was the episode with Batman? There hasn't been an episode with Batman in it. The advertisements tried to act like it was Batman but it was really Lady Shiva.

The Daily Star really sets the bar for entertainment news reliability. Dammit, if it's not from the Globe or the Weekly World News or the Onion, it can't possibly be true...
Guest El Satanico Posted December 7, 2002 Report Posted December 7, 2002 His name will likely be popping up in casting rumors for alot of "big" movies.
Guest red_file Posted December 7, 2002 Report Posted December 7, 2002 Hell, Warners once wanted Keanu Reeves to play Terry in a live-action Batman Beyond movie, but that nightmare never happened either. Which always struck me as odd because Will Friedle seems like he'd be perfect for the role. Not a big enough star, I suppose.

He's also the voice of Terry in Batman Beyond...
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted December 7, 2002 Report Posted December 7, 2002 Will Frielde or Gisuppe Andrews (I think that's his name; played "Lex" in Detroit Rock City) would kick ass as Terry. Eminem wouldn't be able to pull off the class of a Bruce Wayne. They could maybe get him to be a little prick that does some crime and shit, but not Bruce.
Guest C.H.U.D. Posted December 7, 2002 Report Posted December 7, 2002 Wasn't Birds of Prey cancelled already?
Guest starvenger Posted December 7, 2002 Report Posted December 7, 2002 Yes, but they're still airing whatever episodes they've ordered.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Posted December 7, 2002 Report Posted December 7, 2002 There hasn't been an episode with Batman in it. The advertisements tried to act like it was Batman but it was really Lady Shiva. That's fucking lame. I don't think it would be at all possible to do a live action superhero show and do it right. I think the Superman show that they did back in the mid 90's was decent enough, but I can't see a live action Batman show or something like that being done without costing a shit load of money.
Guest raptor Posted December 7, 2002 Report Posted December 7, 2002 I'd hope you'd shoot yourself over something with at least a slight bit of truth to it instead of this. I was just using some creative liscence in saying "i'll be pissed if it happened." Sorry it seems to have offended you.
