Guest Anglesault Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 Do you think this move could slowing replace the actual Angle Slam? I for one think it's more convincing (Obviously, the regular move kind of sucks) and could conceivably beat most guys. However, it's going to become really contrived finding a way to get whomever the oppoent is up on the top rope every match long enough for Angle to hit the move. Do you think he should use it almost as a new finisher, a set up for like the Anklelock, or just drop it?
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 Keep it, but have guys counter it or take it 50/50. It's way too contrived for a finisher, kinda like the 619 isn't Rey's finisher, but the West Coast Pop is. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
ChrisMWaters Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 I think he should use it whenever he gets someone on the top rope. The Angle Slam should be used for set-up for his anklelock. And now that Saturn's gone...Angle can take the rings of Saturn and call it The "Olympic Rings"
Guest El Satanico Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 I don't think he should use it as an everyday move. Like you said how is he going to get the opponent up there every match and look believable espiecally when wrestling someone who doesn't go up top. He should pull it out from time to time when he can fit it into the flow of the match.
Guest raptor Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 I agree. Perhaps not good as a primary finisher, but i definatley mark like a bitch when he does it, so keep it around. By the way, i still think the Olympic Slam is pretty over as a set up to the Angle Lock
ChrisMWaters Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 That's something that I always wondered about... Why did they change the name of the move from Olympic Slam to Angle Slam? Oh, and I still think Kurt could use the Rings of Saturn, calling it the Olympic Rings. Would give him a credible alternate finisher.
Guest the 1inch punch Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 And now that Saturn's gone...Angle can take the rings of Saturn and call it The "Olympic Rings" Genius Chris, as usual
ChrisMWaters Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 And now that Saturn's gone...Angle can take the rings of Saturn and call it The "Olympic Rings" Genius Chris, as usual Thanks 1inch. Now that I said that, I'm going to give my E-Fed clone of Angle that move. Should be fun.

Do you think he should use it almost as a new finisher, a set up for like the Anklelock, or just drop it? The Olympic Slams fit the gimmick, looking something like a real amateur takedown souped up for a WWE ring. And looking contrived never stopped WWE from pushing a move. See: 619, Stinkface, Bronco Buster, convenient ref distraction on Wazzup Drop. Angle's not a completely comical wrestler, so probably shouldn't use that so much. If he came up with a better finisher, I'd say drop the Olympic Slam, demote it to a set up move, or maybe use one or the other rarely in big matches (like Austin's Million Dollar Dream).

Guest Vern Gagne Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 The WWE has ruined all the credible submission moves.
Guest Anglesault Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 Taker did a damned good job all by himself.
Guest godthedog Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 he's using it just enough right now. it's still an amazing sight & is unexpected when it happens. he really needs to stop doing the top rope belly-to-belly though. the first few times it was awesome, but now it's pretty contrived & predictable.
Guest Anglesault Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 You see, I always though the Belly to Belly was somewhat believable, especially when you had someone who went up a lot or had a signature to rope move.
Guest godthedog Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 You see, I always though the Belly to Belly was somewhat believable, especially when you had someone who went up a lot or had a signature to rope move. well it started off as being rather cool, and it's still believable, i've just come to expect it now. when his opponent is taking just a little too long to set up his move, you can see it coming a mile away.
Guest Anglesault Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 It makes sense if the guy's leg or ribs have been pounded, to slow down the climb, too.
Guest Black Tiger Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 Angle should use it as his absolutly when all else fails move. When he can't get tap out, when cheating won't do it, and when he can' use his standard Angle Slam to win, onl then should be bust this bad boy out. ASm who'd have thunk it that you and I are rooting for the same wrestler to win the WWE title at Armageddon?
Guest godthedog Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 It makes sense if the guy's leg or ribs have been pounded, to slow down the climb, too. it does make sense, but making sense isn't the only thing that goes into it. it has to be new & exciting. in bret hart's waning days in wcw, he worked the leg in damn near every single match he was in. now, it made perfect sense for him to do that, but it was also boring as hell. i'm not saying angle can't use it at all. he just needs to stop using it in half his matches--let the people forget about it, then bust it out when they least expect it. just like the moonsault he'll probably bring back sometime in the near future.
Guest Brian Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 The thing that makes it unbelievable know is that he just pops up now. Like the Rock nipping up.
Guest godthedog Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 The thing that makes it unbelievable know is that he just pops up now. Like the Rock nipping up. what's so implausible about it? he's playing possum.
Guest Anglesault Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 The thing that makes it unbelievable know is that he just pops up now. He's playing possum, BAH GAWD
Guest Trivia247 Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 the "Super" Olypmic Slam can be used as the Grand Closer if the Match drags on to the point where no normal Finisher gets the job done. The normal olympic slam is a better setup for the Ankle lock. Espically when he hops around unstrapping and someone in the commentators comment...Hes going Olympic!
