We emidiately have the singing of the national anthem clipped much like Wrestlemania 2 & 6 on coliseum video. Any, buy what i remember, Willie Nelson was wearing a bunch of WWF Merchandise, from Bret Hart sunglasses, Hogan doorag and Cheap looknig Title Belt. I remember the singing being emoitonal, since i was only 7 at the time.

 

Wow, 2nd edit is "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan coming out to do PBP wearing a Unlce Sam like suit. Oh brother.

 

Opening Match: The Rockers (Marty Jannetty & Shawn Michaels) vs. Barbarian & Haku.

Ok, first edit, no 2nd (or 3rd) of the night is a Rockers promo (probably sucked thats why) So we cut right to Barbarian & Haku in the ring already. Wow, my favorite tag team vs. my least favorite guys of all time. (not counting TL Hopper & Sammy). Both men are weighed in at 713 pounds (wow). Rockers come out to a hugh pop. (damn i loved thier theme music.) They both look sober tonight, lets hope it stays like that. Worst rockers attire yet. Had to add that one. Meng starts with the soon to be heartbreak kid. Haku starts with a side headlock and a bear hug. Michaels escapes a slam to nail a nice flying shoulderblock after some leapfrogs. Shawn works the arm but Haku changes that, as he gos into his slu of offense (chops). Rockers with a double hiptoss, then run into the Barbarians double clothesline and selling with the 360 flip. Rockers regain advantage with  2 double cresent kicks on both men, which barbie no sells. Marty's in thier, so we know what happens. BArbarian with some nasty shots on Marty, nothing really great. What a difference in BArbarians appearence since the POP days. MArty gos for the hurricanrana, but cant turn it over, so shawn dropkicks barbie in the back to help him out. Marty try's it again on Haku, but Shawn is caught by the ref and barbie clotheslines him across the top rope. Nice shot. Heels just beat the holy hell out of Marty til Barb. misses a LAME top rope headbutt, allowing the hot tag. (Mention that thier was a blatant edit job there). Shawn gets the hot tag (as usual) and gos ape-sh*t on both men flying elbow! punchs galore! !) 10 PUNCHES OF DOOM on Haku, and a body press onto the barbarian. Meng gets a swiningneckbreaker for his troubles. Marty nails a top rope ropkick followed by a cross body press by shanw for the academic 1-2-3. 8:40. *** Hot opener, this was only thier 2nd PPV victory since joining the WWF in summer of 1988, and were only a mere 9 months away from the breakup that shook the world. (not really, i added that part.)

 

Gene Okerlund is with 3 "celebrity guests" Regis Philbin, Marla MAples & Alex Trabek. I dont care bout this, except Regis is afraid of Earthquake. PREPARE TO FAST-FOWARD!!

 

Texas Tornado vs. Dino Bravo

Oh great, just the match i wanted. Considering both these men died 2 years later just weeks apart. Anyway, Bravo jumps Tornado before the bell, and Tornado cant get his robe off. Tornados theme rules btw. This is the first of 4 Jimmy Hart appearences. Bravo clothesline stornado out as i ramble. Punch Punch Punc, Tornado with a atomic drop and a clothesline sold like shit by Bravo. The Claw gos nowhere as Bravo nails some crappy chops and his finisher the side suplex. OH my, Tornado REALLLLLY kicked out?

 

Heenan: Boss Mans mother could've couned that fast!!

 

Bravo falls right into the Claw of Doom! And Tornado finishes him off with the Spinning Tornado at 2:47. DUD if i ever saw one. Referee in this match btw is current official Mike Chioda, with alot more hair then he has today.

 

Mene Gene is with British Bulldog, Davey Boy Smith. (Warlord & Slick promo clipped to my recolection).

 

Davey Boy Smith (w/ Winston) Vs. The Warlord (w/ Slick)

Oh Please no, I HATE this match. The only one (well not only one) that I dispise on this card. Slow, power offense for the first 2 minutes, most notable 2 warlord double fist pounds, and a reversing of a crxifix. MAJOR CLIP JOB. Warlord locks on the Full Nelson, Bulldog breaks it, reverses a slam, nails his pattenet runnig powerslam and gets the win at a OVERLY CLIPPED 2:32. This match lasted WAY too long i remember with a long Full Nelson aplied. Thank you WWF Edit jobs. btw, DUD. Worse then Tornado/Bravo. Heenan bitches about the ending. Faces are 3-0 so far. This much mean something.

 

Gene is with Jimmy Hart (already?) & Nasty Boys Knobbs & Sags. Super Fats Foward. Hart Foudnation give an equally bad promo.

 

WWF-Tag Team Championship Match:

Hart Foundation (Bret Hart/Jim Niedhart) © vs. NAsty Boys (w/ Jimmy Hart)

Side note, Brets first succesful title defense on a PPV was at Survivor Series 1992. Jim Niedhart nor the Nastys have ever done so. Im praying this match be good, or as close to it. Foundation have the kickass jackets and niedhart has his little pink hat. Monster Pop for the champions. Another theme i love, Hart Foudnation's. Monsoon doesnt recognize Macully Culkin. Heenan makes a tastelss joke about monsoon calling Jimmy Hart a little runt, transfering the insult to Culkin. Bret with the Lou Thesz Press and punches, before it had a name. Bret cleans house of both Nasties 1 minute in. Knobbs wants Niedhart so guess what? Niedhart cleans his clock with some rights and a hiptoss following tossing both men out of the ring. Niedhart ring around the rosies Knobbs in a armbar. But gets trapped thier orner and beaten on. Sags with some more right hands, but Niedhart avoids a backdrop and slings Sags back by the hair. Bretr back in and pumbels Sags again. 10 PUNCHES OF DOOM. Sorry Scott, had to use that one. Russian Lepsweep......second rope elbow drop, but Knobbs clobbers Bret giving them the advantage back. Bret is of course, playing the role of face in peril, or Ricky Morton, whichever you prefer. Bret nails his famous corner turnbuckle bump for good messure, and knobbs works on him verrry slooooowly. Rea chinlock stall a minute and bret reverses into a neckbreaker. Knobbs again works on the Hitmans back with some elbows and ANOTHER rear chinlock. Bret gets him on his shoulders and drops him down hard. (see mankind vs. big slow WMXV). Bret avoids Knobbs corner splash and cothesline Sags down in the process. Niedhart with the 2nd hot tag...but the ref didnt see it. Knobbs clobebrs Sags with the megaphone acidentally and Niedhart is hot tagged for the 1st official time after 2 failed attempts. Double clothesline on the nasty dudes. Pier Six Brawl errupts and i dont know whos legal anymore. Hart attack by Bret gets 2, Sags nails Jim with the motorcycle helmet for the 3 and the Tag Team Titles at 8:56. **1/2. Definitly a good match, the middle portion was somewhat slow, but whenever the foundation are in contral the pace picks up. This was the 2nd to last match they had as a team at the time btw. Thier last was a rematch at MSG.

 

Recap of Jake Roberts/Rick MArtel fued. Jake is no Brother Love show (10/6/90) when Model sprays Arroganc ein Jakes eyes. Several weeks later Jake came back on the show "blind". In the process laying out Love with a DDT to the delight of Piper (YEEEES YEEES YES YES!).

 

Jake roberts: (CLIPPED): The blind leading the blind....even a fool knows a man has 5 senses. But a snake, it has 6. And we always do it better....in the dark.

 

Blindfold Match:

Jake "The Snake" Roberts vs. Rick "The Model" Martel

5th theme of the night on my personal favorites list. This is Jakes last PPV as a face, before turning evil and becoming a drug attic/alcoholic at the same time. Danny Davis is referee. Whats up with that? wasnt he suspended for life plus 10 years as a referee?! Shit happens i guess. Lets get down to all the contact portions of the match. Jake grabs Martels legs but nothing notable....martel trips over Jake, but he starts pounding on Jakes face. Backdrop fails. No shit. They backinto each other, then martel runs into the ropes with davis grinning all the while.

 

Heenan: Hes an erie kind of a guy. Hes the kind of guy that gos bump in the night.

 

Get it? BUMP. Anyway...Martel starts kicking at air while jake is a good 20 feet away from him. Martel misses an elbow drop. No shit part 2. Rick grabs the snake bag and falls right into jake roberts. Match ends with Martel getting the boston crab on Jake, but he powers out and nails his first Offensive move of the night, the dreaded DDT for the pin at 6:11. * The crowd was really into it, so was I, plus it was a new thing to the WWF, so ill be genrous for this match.

 

Marla Maples is in the Jimmy Hart locker room where NAsty Boys are celbrating with Quake, Bravo & Mountie.

 

Wrestlemania VII Festivities narrated by Lord Alfred Hayes. Jake kisses a girl on the lips. Thats a lawsuit i bet.

 

The Undertaker vs. Superfly Jimmy Snuka

Im guessing Snukas the heel with the evil goatie, while UT gets a major fac epop. OH MY! ITS The PHENOM vs. THE PHENOM! DUMMM...........DUMMMM.............Its the Undertaker! This guy literaly scared me to death at this point. For whom the bell tolls. gotta love that line. Undertaker just about beats the shit out of Snuka for 4 minutes or so. Paul Bearer looks slim comapred to now. Someone special is in the UT urn. Couldnt they use that for the Kane fued 7 yrs. later? for his dead parents part.

 

Heenan: He should have a bigger urn for the Big Boss Man, maybe one of the green trashbags.

 

Undertaker jumps the cardinal veteran from behind with some heavy shots. Bearer had a very ugly expression on his face right on cam, (shudders). Snuka eats turnbuckle followed by UT thrusts to the face! Not the neck Choke in the ropes. UT nails a tremendous flying clothesline! About 5 feet  in the air he got on that one. Snuka gos for a flying body press but UT dogdes it and he gos flying over the top rope. He gos for a slingshot in but Undertaker catches and legitimatly drops him on his head with the tombstone for the win and his first WM win for those out thier at 4:19, BIG POP for that one. DUD by the way.

 

Warrior/Savage fued recap. Savage attacked Warrior on SNME back in 1990 vs. Dibiase, then costs him the world title at the 1991 Royal rumble.

 

Career Ending Match:

Ultimate Warrior vs. "Macho King" Randy Savage

Heenan spots Liz in the audience in the aisleway area 2nd row. sheesh. she that poor she couldnt get front row ring side?! Hey, thiers a japanese jobber carrying Savage & Sherri. #7 & 8 on my all time favroite themes list. Warrior actually walks to the ring for the first, last and only time in his wrestling career. Savage tries psyching out the Warrior to start. He rips off his shirt to show he means bussiness. Savage tries sneak attacking Warrior but stops in his tracks. Warrior tosses Savage like a rag-doll. Savage with some eye rakes and punches to the back of the head, but warriorknocks him on his ass with a shoulderblock. Savage with a sneak attack on Warrior, but again gets layed out. Warrior with a guilotine drop.  Followed by a stalled Atomic Drop. Savage gos into the guilotine choke for the 3rd wrestlemania. See WM 2 & III. Savage his having his ass handed to him. Warrior gos down to 1 clothesline, but he catches Savage off the top......and merely slaps him across the face. Savage throws a chair at Warrior but doesnt help as Warrior clobbers Savage AGAIN. And AGAIN. and AGAIN, but that shot didnt even connect. Savage is gotten almost zero offense in 5 minutes. Savage dodges a warrior shoulder tackle in the corner and he spills to the floor. Sherri bends over, thankfully her face isnt shown, shoving her ass right in front of the camera. Then leashes some shit i cant describe. Warrior sells Sherri & NOT Savage? Savage sneak attack #668485 Warrior and throws him into the post. Sherri again gos for Warrior. Savage gos for long rear chinlock and a sleeper. Again we get a nice shot of Sherri bending over. and since we dont see her face its a nice shot. Not a Trish shot but hey, its fuckin 1991.Double clothesline knocks both men down. Warrior with an inside cradle(!) for a 5 count that was only 2. Whacky Ass Edit job as Savage has the same chinlock, then the ref is out all of a sudden. ????.Sherri nails Savage by msitake with her shoe, nearly casuing him to lose. Savage hooks the tights for a 2 1/2 count. Heenan is going nuts by now. Savage with the eblow off the top rope.....followed by another.........and another..........and another!.........and a final and 5th Elbow Drop in a mere 30-40 seconds. Only gets a 2 count. Warrior comes back with clotheslines and the splash....for only a 2!! God this match is awesome. Wwarrior starts talkin to his hand and procedes to leave, until Savage sneak attacks (no really) Warrior while hes trying to leave. Savage gets nailed by Warrior with the double axehandle to the floor, then Warrior procedes to nail 3 shoulderblocks on Savage to get the win and to "end" Randy Savage's career at 20:46. ***** all the way. After the match. Sherri starts laying into Savage for losing and now shes out of a job, after a few minutes, Liz leaves the crowd and enters the ring, then tosses Sherri out of the ring. Savage comes to and doesnt realize shes thier and starts todo the look at crowd in shock syndrom. The imbrace in a great reunion after 2 months apart (in TV) and we see shots of several fans in tears, including Lord Hayes.

Savage for the first time, holds the ropes for Liz, shwoing he has completely turned Face to a HUGH POP.

 

Savage rants about the Kingdom crumbling and all that jazz.

(Demolition, Undertaker & Tenryu/Kitao interviews edited)

 

Tenryu & Kitao vs. New Demolition (Smash & Crush)

Wow, talk about shit. Demolition start by attacking the japanese sensations(?!) with thier usually brute strength. No Orient Express theme!? I feel robbed. Crush unloads on Kitao and Mr. Fuji gives him the Cain job for good messure while Smash antagonizes Tenryu. Smash tags in and they just beat on the fat jap with shitty action. Tenryu chops away on Smash and dropkicks Crush to the outside. Misses the backwards elbow drop. Crush back in and just kicks on Tenryu. Smash with the side backbreaker, as Crush gos for the Decapitator. Crush sends Kitao outside andslooooooooooooowly gos for it again, but is pushed off the top to the floor and Tenryu pins Smash witha  powerbomb at a meger 3:02. 1/2*. Thats being generous cause i like Demolition. BTW, #9 on my all time favorite themes.

WWF-Intercontinental Title Match:

Mr. Perfect © Vs. Big Boss Man

God im tired, so ill rap this one up in as little words i can. #10 & 11 on my alltime favortie themes list. Bossman wipes his ass with the towel and they exchange slaps and spit. Boss Mans slap is overselled with the 360 spin. Perfect gets thrown around by the hair and gets clobberd by a hugh Boss Man clotheslines. Great speed sequence. Why couldnt we get Duggan back instead of Hayes at PBP? LOL. Perfect soon takes back the advantage until Andre wanders out stalking Heenan and taking the IC Title belt. PErfect gets in Andres face and eats the steel, but Haku & Barbie run in for the DQ at a HEAVILY CLIPPED LIKE THE BULLDOG/WARLORD MATCH at 4:34. Afterwards Andre/Boss Man kick the Heenans Family;s ass. As Perfect sells a andre punch with another 360 spin.

Greg "the Hammer" Valentine vs. Earthquake

Earthwuake no sells everything, Valentine cant get the figure four on him, Quake slams hi, elbow drop and Veritcal Splashes the Hammer for the Quick win at 3:18. DUD.  In 1 line it took them that long to produce.

 

Legion of Doom rant about Power & Glory, or according to Hawk, Sour & Gory after the match. EEEEWWWAAAAAAH WHAT A RUSH!!!

 

Legion of Doom vs. Power & Glory

Match starts after the what a rusah part. Smart clipping. ITs a piersix brawl all the way as no one ever tags in or out. Hawk takes care of Hercules while Animal nails a hugh powerslam on Roma. Hawk clobbers him with the Doomsday Device at 0:59. DUD. Next.

 

Virgil (w/ Roddy Piper) vs. "million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase

Wow, they clipped the fucking Fued recap package. Damn you Coliseum Video! Well anyway, its all a boxnig match for Virgil in between Dibiases ass kicking. Piper keeps getting in Dibiases face and gets knocked off his crotches twice. Dibiase is so worked up about Piper he gets counted out. time of the match a quick 4:36. * For historical reasons. Afterwards Dibiase & Sherri take apart Pipers "injured"knee, and Virgil incourages him to get his ass up. Good little finish.

 

Sgt. Slaughter promo. Gen. Adnan talks like he has shit in his mouth. Clips of Him beating up on Jim Duggan & Hulk Hogan.

 

Tito Santana vs. The Mountie

Guess who wins this one? In short order, Mountie uses his Cattle Prod on Tito behind the referees back for the win at 1:21. DUD

 

Heenan: I believe it was something he ate!

 

Hulk Hogan promo. Brother count for this one is 4 in the first half, and 0 in the 2nd. Highlights from Gen Adnan vs. Hogan match that weekend.

 

WWF-Championship Match:

Sgt. Slaughter © vs. Hulk Hogan

First we have the 3 guests enter the ring, with some near great upskirt shots of Marla Maples. We missed all the other celebrity interviews in the crowd. Hogans theme is #13 of the night on my favorite list. I always liked the PPV Reports back then. Real American is #1 on the list though brother! Marlas teeth are bigger then Edge's! Hogan chases Slaughter to start. stall central for first 2 minutes. tieup goes all over the place, Chant of USA is mega loud. The ref pushed the ref, DQ him. Not, hogan rules, fuck you whoever says he doesnt. Hogan gos to a sideheadlock then takes down Sgt with a shuolderblock (the move of the night). Hogan slams Slaughter into the steps then gos after Adnan, as Hogan no sells a weeeeeak chair shot and just snaps on him. Slaughter works over Hogan with some boots and nuckle shots and a weak elbow to no reaction. Hogan with a hugh clothesline on slaughter and a roundhouse to Adnan as he gos back to a slugfest on slaughter. Slam gets only a 2 count.Hogan with a boinic elbow right between the eyes gets 2. Slaughter eats more turnbuckle (see Steele, George) Hard corner bump by the Sgt. as Hogan nails a high knee to the back. Hogan slingshots Slaughter to the post and stupidly gos up the top rope. after 2 sets of the 10 PUNCHES OF DOOM! Slaughter slams him off and gos to work by choking him with cable wires and a chairshot. DQ Ref? Long boston crab, but Hogan gets the ropes. slaughter smashes a chair in hgans face as I CLEARLY SEE HIM BLADE!! Only a 2 count. slaughter with the Camel Clutch but he lets go and covers Hogan with the Iraqi flag. Bad move. Hogan HULKS Up, rips up the flag, Waves his finger nails 3 right roundhouses, big boot, atomic leg drop, new wwf world champion at a long 20:23.**1/2. Some people may not have seen it, but the first 12 minutes or so was very good considering the two of the participants. great way to end the show.

 

Other then the filler/jobber matches in between 5 or 6 of the best matches, this is a good card considering the state sof the WWF was about to be in.

Bro, are you sure this one was clipped down? I've got the Coliseum and box set versions, and I thought that the box set ones were basically the full PPVs. But the box set version of WM7 cuts in right at the beginning of this quote. Is there more to this on the PPV? Excellent rant, btw. -Jim
