Guest BobBacklundRules Report post Posted December 8, 2002 Members of Ken Shamrock's Lions Den fighting team told Ed Doty from MMA weekly that Shamrock is retiring from mixed martial arts. Dave Meltzer expects that Shamrock will try to get back on with WWE.

Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted December 8, 2002 Only been hearing this rumor for 3 years now. I hated when the 3rd rate news sites had a message KEN SHAMROCK'S WWF RETURN Then you'd click it and get "Ken Shamrock has no plans on returning to the WWF." Seems like they'd run that one once a week
Guest buffybeast Report post Posted December 8, 2002 I read this rumor at 411wrestling. I'm skeptical on Shamrock's return, mind you. He's been gone for 3 years now and the business has since changed. He was a fool to leave in the first place.

Guest geniusMoment Report post Posted December 8, 2002 Did you guys really hate Shamrock that much? I wouldn't mind seeing him be a mid carder on raw or smackdown, it would be something different. Everyone seems to be fighting the same people week after week, Shamrock gives you some fresh match ups. I'm not going to criticize Shamrock for wanting to continue to do what he loved to do, UFC, hell I even respect him for taking less money to do that than he would have made working for wwf/wwe. Guest razazteca Report post Posted December 8, 2002 Will Shamrock snap and eat dog food again? If WWE goes with the World Most Dangerous Jobber angle I will be happy. Let the MMA Invasion begin might as well bring in Antonio Inoki to book it also.

Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted December 8, 2002 Shamrock's work on NWA TNA made me a whole lot less intersted in seeing him back in the WWE...maybe he was unmotivated or something, but he bored the hell out of me.
Guest Dr. Wrestlingphysics Report post Posted December 8, 2002 I, for one, wouldn't mind seeing Shamrock back in a WWE ring. This news hardly comes as a shock, though. It seems that since the day he left there has been talk of his imminent return.

Guest blachuuh_monkey Report post Posted December 9, 2002 ARGH!! I really really hate Shamrock. If he comes back I'm going to be incredibly pissed. He was horible. Every move he did sucked and was performed much better by most of the people on the roster when he was in the WWE before. He was also the only person I seen to hav a shitty match with Michaels in 1997. If he comes back you know damn well he is going to have a pointless fued with Angle, and although it will probably produce the best match of his career their is no way it will be anywhere close to 4 stars. Bottom Line: He is not worth spending time and money on with so many more younger and better talents on the roster. Did I mention I hate Shamrock the wrestler? Guest The Tino Standard Report post Posted December 9, 2002 This discussion is pointless... The news item simply said that Shamrock's people are saying he is looking at retiring from MMA. That does NOT make a WWE return imminent. Just because Dave Meltzer thinks this would be a logical career move for Shamrock doesn't mean it is a done deal. Keep in mind that Shamrock hasn't even retired from MMA yet. "His people said he's thinking about it." Yeah, THAT is pretty definitive. This is all just speculation on a slow news day. Don't accept any of this as fact.

Don't accept any of this as fact. Dude, it's not exactly like Meltzer's speculation is a stretch. As someone else said, Shamrock has been talking about his "imminent return" ever since he left. Shamrock just got his ass whupped by someone is a lower weight class, he's clearly not cut out for MMA. Where else will he go? Back to NWA? Doubtful. It seems clear that he himself wants to come back to WWE and have his own little fantasy feud with Angle--the question is whether or not WWE will take him back. I'm guessing they will, though they shouldn't, since he's not worth it and will be stealing the push of someone more deserving. But apparently the relationship between him and the company is friendly, as they reportedly wanted him to train Brock for the Lewis shoot-fight (even though he would have been a terrible choice for that). And re-signing him just seems like a "WWE move", if you know what I mean.
