The Soprano's last season...

I can not believe that next season will be the last one (or is it the one after that, whatever). I am so damn hooked to that show, and with it's being ended, it pisses me off more than any other TV program in the history of my watching TV. Eh, I don't know what to say other than I am not pleased. I'll ask this I guess...

...since that show has such a HUGE following, what happens now? Will the series turn to film, or will it just end and be left in the past?

Sincerely,

...Downhome...

It's over unless HBO wants to try and do a spin off show. They could probably get most of the crew to return and may be able to get some of the secondary cast members to return.

Unless the main guy wants to do a film that won't happen.

Chances are it's gone forever.

It is not confirmed that the SERIES is ending. David Chase just said he wants to move on. So maybe just a new crew to direct and produce.

But I think they said Chase is also keeping the rights to the show if he leaves or something like that.

David Chase himself commented on it......

This is from the TV Guide magazine on the Sopranos that came out before the season started in an interview with him:

TVG: You've said that after the 5th season, that might be it?

DC: That IS it. For sure. Definately. No more. People don't believe me because I've said that before. I mean they might choose to keep doing it. It's just that I don't want to.

-I don't know know exactly who would make the desicion to keep it going, but I would bet this will be the last season.

I saw it on CNN when I posted this, they said it is 100% for sure that the series will be ending now, they even had various stars from the show talking about it.

It is sad that we only got 65 esp of The greatest Televison drama of all time, but a great 65 shows it was.

I don't see HBO having the balls to go with a Spin off because...What would they do? Have Chris take over and move the crew to Vegas?

They will just create three more new HBO staples to replace Sopranos, OZ and 6ftunder (which I think is over after the next season) and new comedies to replace Sex and city and Curb.

It looks like another few bad years are coming for HBO before they can find some new programs.

I don't think so, Sure, It will take maybe never to reach the levels of Sopranos and Sex and the City and the Cult status of Oz, but HBO will stick to their guns...The Wire was solid Show although nowhere near the levels of The HBO "3".

I am sure they can produce three new hit shows for the future...

Call me crazy, but that would be awesome as fuck.

You are forgetting about Six Feet Under, that's a great one also in my eyes.

I think that Chris in LV deal would be pretty cool, but I don't think there is anyway a spinoff would succeed. Every episode woud be compared to The Sopranos and I think that show was lightning in a bottle.

If they got good writers to work on it they could make a Sopranos spin off work.

It depends on what secondary stars they could get to return. It would be alot easier to do if someone like Chris agreed to return.

here is a question...Should they do a AJ gets sucked into the Mafia world angle ala Tony when he was a kid? Or what? Should AJ have some interest in his father's job?

Six Feet Under is already a critical hit and HBO is starting to throw all of it's promotion behind the new season.

Curb Your Enthusiasm is still the best show on TV and the best comedy that HBO has had since the Larry Sanders Show.

Eh i can't see AJ making it in Tony's world. He's a pussy and too much of an idiot. He'd end up as one those little punk kids who run errands and gets gunned down trying to make a name for himself.

Hmm does that remind you of anyone?

I would hate that. To me, Christopher is a totally unlikeable character. Part of the appeal of the Sopranos was Tony as the likeable Mob boss.

Well I'd personally enjoy a show about a total prick Mob Boss.

the evolution of Tony's character will fit RIGHT IN with next season being the end. As a more calm and collect (likeable) type of mafia boss, he could keep everyone and everything in check pretty good, but lately we have seen him lose control and just cease to give a shit about anything and not think things out and be a lot more open to start grudges. This is a prime reason why he will most likely get offed to end the series, or just go so crazy that he ends up getting caught and jailed for life.

I think Tony will push Carmela too far and she'll probably kill him or have him killed. Tony's death is invetiable.

So who would Carmella go to? I doubt she is tight with Johnny Sac's crew...MAYBE Furio...but I don't think so.
