triple h fears being overshadowed by flair

Is it available on VHS/DVD? I'd love to see it.

It's odd seeing two teams, with one member of the old guard and another of the "new" guard (at the time, of course). Hell, HBK began to use the Savage Flying Elbow in time, too. Plus Bret and Flair are probably the best technicians of their eras (okay, Bret's not as good as Ric was, but how many are?).

And it just kills me to think of anyone shilling HHH to be comparable in any way to those 4 (other than asskissing, which he may top HBK with). I don't know how Flair can keep a straight face.

I liked Bret's move-set more than Flair's. He seemed more balanced.

He could never give a promo like Flair though.

Andy...don't compare Richard Keil to HHH. That's an insult to Keil

Hell...comparing HHH to Arch Hall Jr. would be an insult to Arch Hall Jr...and that's saying something.

After reading this, I came to a realization. HHH thinks he's Ric Flair. I've heard him talk about how he idolized him on "The Game" DVD (I got it for Flair/Steamboat in the extras). Think about it, he had a run of great matches in 2000 and people started calling him the next Flair coughCRZcough. Now he pulls to have his friends in top spots, like flair, he pulled in an old buddy in an attempt to have a big-time feud (Steamboat for Flair and Michaels for HHH) and he always has the belt, like Flair, although Flair earned it more often than not, whereas HHH takes it (at least alledgedly). Flair never catches as much flak from smarks about his power struggles because a lot of his ideas sound good to us.

More balanced, yes, but more formulatic. Flair would change up more during his matches, while a lot of times it seemed Bret would be running through the same match all the time.

Now, in big matches Bret would pull out all the stops, and Flair carried a lot of slugs to good matches while Bret had a good match with DIESEL! They both deserve their props, but Flair's a very hard act to follow.

You really can't compare Flair bringing in Steamboat to Trips bringing in Michaels and excahnging the world title with him.

THere are PLENTY of avaliable challengers for Triple H. Booker T, RVD, and Jericho are all more then ready. Yet Michaels is brought in (a retired wrestler might I add) and given the belt instead.

Let's look at who Flair had. Luger? They had feuded throughout all of '88 so something fresh was needed. Sting? Eh..possibly, but he was still just a year into the NWA (and basically just a year has a singles wrestler). That was a little too early (especailly in that enviroment). Windham was gone shortly after Steamboat came in and was a fresh heel to boot. Thre weren't many options. Not to mention that Steamboat was still a good and active wrestler. Michaels is not. Michaels has virtually nothing to offer that RVD or Booker can't. Steamboat, however did.

Flair was still awesome in 94.

HHH is a useless slug.

That is the difference.

All I said was that HHH thinks he's Flair, he's only really that good in his own mind.

It seems like Hunter doesn't need him anyway, so why even have the two together?

That's what I'm thinking. It doesn't even seem right to have Flair following HHH down to the ring for his entrance. It's not like HHH needs the help or is unpopular with marks or anything.

Also, Flair/Bautista is equally weird. Probably because I'm so used to Flair coming out to 2001 and not Motorhead and BUTT Metal.

JotW: Ditto. And to me, Davey Big Hoss BAHGAUD-Tista's theme sounds like a rejected Undertaker theme.

And when they were trying to come up with one for Dave they picked it up off the cutting room floor and ran with it.

I think when they paired HHH with Flair, they were trying to get rid of HHH's "Dudley Boyz circa 2001" heat. Just like the Dudleys back in 2001, HHH has won so much and dominated everybody that his heat is a mixture of apathy, face pops, groans, and scattered boos.

If the Flair/HHH partnership had worked like it was supposed to, he would be getting heel heat from Flair's association alone. But since Flair is just a trophy for HHH to show off and not actually doing anything, HHH is still getting Dudley Boy heat.
