The Used are HORRIBLE. Horrible, horrible, horrible.

 

They are probably the worst live act I've ever seen. Ridiculous posturing, incoherently dumb songs, simplistic whining with a fake hardcore edge...oog. Worst of all, they're just excessively dull. Being sandwiched between Vendetta Red and Andrew WK didn't help them look good at all.

 

"A Box Full Of Sharp Objects" is good for a laugh, "Poetic Tragedy" makes me kind of want to vomit, and so on, and so forth. It's pretty generic emo with one dude who screams.

 

I'm really not a fan.

Have you guys ever seen the way emo kids dance? It's terrifying. They wiggle their arms and touch their wrists in bold symbolic gestures about getting dumped and crying or something, and I have no idea what's going on. It's pretty scary stuff.

Why haven't I heard of this band? I swear, before this thread was started I had never once heard of The Used before in any shape or form. I can only faintly recollect having heard the name Thursday tossed around a few times, as well. I'm starting to feel like our shitty 21st century youth culture is passing me by.

I've suddenly noticed a lot of people in hip circles talking about something called "electroclash." I'm totally in the dark, and yet it seems to be some sort of underground phenomenon. How did I get so far outside of the loop?

1) I like a lot of emo...for one a lot of it is just good music, not saying all is, but a lot of it is. And I don't sit in the dark and sob about relationships.

 

2) I like Sebastain...he takes a lot of shit here cause his taste in music.

I've heard of The Used, but never actually heard anything by them... Upon seeing this topic, I had to think for a few minutes as to where I've heard the name before though.

 

Electroclash - It's apparently a dance music thing, steeped in '80s influence and fashion, along with arty posturing. And the originator, or the guy who re-introduced it to the scene, going by the pure '80s influence, was responsible for RuPaul's old "hit" from the early '90s (which doesn't make me very hopeful for the trend).

 

Heh, electroclash in a nutshell.

 

A search on Google should get you more adequate information... one article I found pretty much referred to it as "new new wave."

 

And I'm out of loop as much as you are, Kinetic. In fact, I was never very into it in the first place.

Yucky Band...Taste of Ink was fun for the first 23 second and then it sucked from there and so did the whole album...can't believe I wasted a perfectly good blank disc for them...
